Hi. I’m waiting for mine to arrive. I’d really like to use alphabet letters with it. Can you please tell me which ones will work ? Thanks so much.

They are showing thin metal so thin metal die would work Any thin that is less than 2.5” will go thru

Thank you so much for replying. This is my first die cut machine, so it’s all new to me. I’ve seen lots of alphabet sets that are thin, but, can you just take one letter off and send it through ?

Most alpha dies have tiny metal attachments from letter to letter. You are meant to use tin snips/wire cutters to separate them.

If you know anyone with Sizzlit dies those will also fit. I have several of the die sets with separate letters on each die as well as a couple that are long and thin which have the whole alphabet on them. Quickutz dies will work as well.

Tim Holtz has some sets like this.
(Photos removed)
These kind of word sets are something I use a lot for cardmaking.
Have fun with your new toy!

Thanks again for the help. Last night I ordered 2 sets of sizzix thinlits. The machine is coming today. Yay. And the dies have now been pushed back to coming on Thursday, but I totally understand that. Quite excited about getting it all. 😊

If you are going to be doing a lot of letters at once, I suggest getting these 13" cutting pads
And this adapter 10 pack
I'm not familiar with this website, it's just what came up when searching images. I've had mine for quite a few years.

If you know anyone with Sizzlit dies those will also fit. I have several of the die sets with separate letters on each die as well as a couple that are long and thin which have the whole alphabet on them. Quickutz dies will work as well. Sizzlits will NOT fit unless you get the CLEAR mini cutting pads Item number 654559 OR the 13 inch Sizzlits Decorative Strip Cutting Pads. THOSE two are the SAME thickness as the regular Big Shot and Big Kick. The aqua pads that come with your NEW machine are a tiny bit THICKER and you use them WITHOUT an adapter to cut Thinlits, wafer thin and QuicKutz. You can NOT cut the Sizzlits with those cutting pads, they have to use the thinner and original clear cutting pads.
The package on my Smoky Grey pads say 1/8" thick like the all the others BUT after I called Sizzix asking if the pads were thicker or if the machine was made different, they changed the description of the thickness from 1/8 inch to 4mm on the website shortly thereafter but the packaging is of course, still wrong. It is confusing since Sizzix didn't change the descriptions and don't always make it very clear what works with what.
The smoky grey and aqua are the thicker ones and say 4mm on the website while the others say 1/8 inch. I bought BOTH the clear I mentioned above AND the smoky grey and they are not the same thickness. I'm happy with the smoky grey because I don't have to use the adapter anymore!
If you are going to be doing a lot of letters at once, I suggest getting these 13" cutting pads
And this adapter 10 pack
I'm not familiar with this website, it's just what came up when searching images. I've had mine for quite a few years.
I'm sorry but honestly, it is NOT a good idea to buy the adapter set, there is a reason it is discontinued. Not needed anymore and it cuts best if the die is completely within the adapter, crossing two adapters next to one another, you'll have a part that might not cut well. It didn't work as well as it should cutting a long QuicKutz die with adapters.
The only reason you need the long Sizzlits Decorative Cutting Strip Pad is if you actually have some long Sizzlits Decorative Strip dies. Sizzix hasn't made the adapters for a long time. Cheaper to just use the new thicker cutting pads for wafer thin dies and make short passes. It took me a lot of research, talking to Sizzix employees that didn't know the answer and FINALLY getting my new Hobby Lobby only 45 miles away for me to find the answer! I have two Big Shots but sometimes I like to use my little machine to cut a lot of a small die while watching TV. Love that I can just use the new thicker pads rather than the adapters.

Ok I think I already ruined my aqua pads 🙁 Before I used it, I watched a couple of videos. So excited, ready to start. Put a piece of card stock and a heart die ( that came with it ) then placed card stock and die between aqua pads - and go through the little machine. Perfect heart. But - it left a heart shaped cut on the brand new aqua pad ! 🙁 Tried again with my Tim Holtz thinlit alphabet letter. Fit good. Cut good. But it left a cut mark on the aqua pad too ! Is this supposed to happen ? If so, I’m ok with it. Have I ruined it right off the get go ? Help please.

No, as caangel said, normal. Just wait until you've done LOTS of cuts, they'll really look terrible then! Still work fine but look terrible. You should see some of mine!

Your experience is normal. I strive to accumulate die impressions on the same plate (& use both sides of it), while the other one stays unmarked. Therefore, I'll only need to replace one plate, not both, at a time. Happy diecutting!
