I wish when you bought something you could scan the package and it would add all the items to an index... so if say, I don't know... you can't remember if you bought something with a cactus on it, all you have to do is look up cactus and all your cactus papers, embellishments and die cuts show up and tell you where they are in your stash.
Unlike now where I have to guess which theme bin I put it in, or maybe it was on a sticker sheet, or maybe in a box of random stuff, or maybe I don't own anything with cactuses on it, and only imagined I owned one, or maybe it was a double sided paper and I filed that paper with whatever was on the other side...
Meanwhile, while I wait for this indexer to be invented, my photo of my aloe plant shall remain unscrapped because I can't find the stuff I swear I own to scrap it.
Anyone else?

Have you ever watched Big Bang Theory? Sheldon always inventories all of his items as he packs a suitcase.
I remember some things very clearly... I just don't always remember if I thought I bought it or actually did buy it. My sticker sheets are all in 12 x 12 plastic envelopes so I can see all of them by flipping through them. Papers... way too many to remember them all.

I know some people around here have created their own catalogs, at least of their stamps and dies, using Evernote or a home inventory app. It's not quite as convenient as just scanning a barcode, and of course you'd have to be diligent about registering the information of where you put the thing and then any time you moved it you'd have to log that too...
I have a crafty business so I actually have to stocktake all my patterned paper and cardstock sheets and stickers and clear dewdrop embellishments, all my countable materials, which means that I have to know what I called them, and where they are, and I can tell you it's the WORST part of owning a business! It does encourage me not to buy too much and to use up what I have so I don't have to count it again next year.
I hope you find your cactus paper... Maybe if you let it go your brain will remember for you. Assuming you didn't imagine something you didn't actually buy... I have some cute cactus die cuts (that are not in inventory). I could pop in the mail for you.

Just last week I was wishing for some way to search for a collection that has a sticker or die cut of a baseball cap so I could see if I may have it in my stash. There are some hidden gems in those ephemera packs and 12x12 sticker & chipboard sheets and no easy way to find them. Then when you do find that elusive embellishment, it's the wrong size or color (and not something you can re color).

I just made a layout using 18 potted cactus stickers, and then I gave the rest of the pack to DD.
I hope you find your stuff !

I keep a hidden Pinterest board called "Purchased" where I link to the stuff I have purchased, mostly kits and collections, so I can look quickly through to see what I have in my stash. It's not very detailed, though. The picture format works best for me rather than a list.

Color my life is an iOS app that does just this. Not 100% of all barcodes are in there but many are.

This would be a nightmare to me because I know myself. I would never keep it up, would never check it, would not delete stuff I used. It will be one more organizational item I will never use. I am more likely to just rebuy things that I know I have but can't find.
What I need is a large enough room (not gonna happen) that I can put things away and know where to look. Right now there are so many things still in bags it's not funny. It's a very sad state of affairs.

When I find a random image in an ephemera package that I know I could use elsewhere, I move it to that box. So, a random coffee cup goes into my kitchen/food collection.
I even use an exacto knife to cut an image out of stickers sheets.

And much needed 😂

I catalog all my stamps and dies but not all the rest. That would be way more work than I could handle.
I really hate when I just know I bought something, can’t find it, scrap the page without it, then find it a couple of weeks later.

This is why I talked myself into buying a Cricut. Now if I need a cactus and can't lay my hands on that embellishment or whatever I know is SOMEWHERE - I just download a cut image file, use scrap paper, and create one in whatever size I want. A weak justification, but it works. UNTIL I find that perfect embellishment a few weeks later and then I'm kicking myself for not remembering where it was to begin with.
