linkDo you agree with Max Boot’s view that trump will go down in history as the worse president ever? The trump administration knew about the potential of this virus at the end of January but did nothing. The United States had people working in China who’s job it was to watch for these types of virus and raised the alarm. trump slashed their jobs. His handling of the virus has consisted of him blaming the Obama Administration for “broken” tests on a virus that didn’t exist three years ago to claiming the healthcare workers in New York are selling the medical supplies they receive and then claiming the Federal stockpile is his and not the states and they need to get their own supplies and then claiming he’s doing a great job when he’s not going on about how we have to “open up” the country even as number of reported folks with the virus goes up along with the number of people dying from it. So do you think trump will go down in history as the worst president ever? Max Boot in the Washington Post. “The worst president. Ever.”From the column... ”Until now, I have generally been reluctant to label Donald Trump the worst president in U.S. history. As a historian, I know how important it is to allow the passage of time to gain a sense of perspective. Some presidents who seemed awful to contemporaries (Harry S. Truman) or simply lackluster (Dwight D. Eisenhower, George H.W. Bush) look much better in retrospect. Others, such as Thomas Jefferson and Woodrow Wilson, don’t look as good as they once did. So I have written, as I did on March 12, that Trump is the worst president in modern times — not of all time. That left open the possibility that James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, Warren Harding or some other nonentity would be judged more harshly. But in the past month, we have seen enough to take away the qualifier “in modern times.” With his catastrophic mishandling of the coronavirus, Trump has established himself as the worst president in U.S. history. His one major competitor for that dubious distinction remains Buchanan, whose dithering helped lead us into the Civil War — the deadliest conflict in U.S. history. Buchanan may still be the biggest loser. But there is good reason to think that the Civil War would have broken out no matter what. By contrast, there is nothing inevitable about the scale of the disaster we now confront. & ”Far worse is the human carnage. We already have more confirmed coronavirus cases than any other country. Trump claimed on Feb. 26 that the outbreak would soon be “down to close to zero.” Now he argues that if the death toll is 100,000 to 200,000 — higher than the U.S. fatalities in all of our wars combined since 1945 — it will be proof that he’s done “a very good job.” No, it will be a sign that he’s a miserable failure, because the coronavirus is the most foreseeable catastrophe in U.S. history. The warnings about the Pearl Harbor and 9/11 attacks were obvious only in retrospect. This time, it didn’t require any top-secret intelligence to see what was coming. The alarm was sounded in January by experts in the media and by leading Democrats including presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden. & “This fiasco is so monumental that it makes our recent failed presidents — George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter — Mount Rushmore material by comparison. Trump’s Friday night announcement that he’s firing the intelligence community inspector general who exposed his attempted extortion of Ukraine shows that he combines the ineptitude of a George W. Bush or a Carter with the corruption of Richard Nixon.” & ”Trump is characteristically working hardest at blaming others — China, the media, governors, President Barack Obama, the Democratic impeachment managers, everyone but his golf caddie — for his blunders. His mantra is: “I don’t take responsibility at all.” It remains to be seen whether voters will buy his excuses. But whatever happens in November, Trump cannot escape the pitiless judgment of history. Somewhere, a relieved James Buchanan must be smiling.”

You know, maybe. Melania is definitely the most invisible FL ever, that's fer sher!
What worries me is that once we get through all this Corona Virus business, Trump will take all of the credit, none of the blame, and win by an effing landslide.

”We are learning much about the Invisible Enemy. It is tough and smart, but we are tougher and smarter!
A virus is “smart”?
Seriously, people think it’s a good idea to vote for this guy who thinks a virus has a brain and can think before it acts...

he was incredibly ill-prepared for the role BEFORE a global pandemic needed addressing.
but he is all about the "spin" so i think he will continue to spew his crap and the people that wanna believe will always continue to believe. it's gross. and shameful. lying, mistruths, misinformation and bluster... that is all become the norm.

I fully think he can win again in 2020 because there are so many fucking stupid people in this country. Yes, if you vote for him at this point, support him at this point, you're fucking stupid.

After reading about him (and viewing, and hearing) all I did before he was president I would have rated him pretty damn low as simply a human being.
Add that to his total all-about-me-ism, incompetence and vengefulness my answer would be yes. Hell yes.

The trump administration knew about the potential of this virus at the end of January but did nothing. Long, sorry!! He KNEW at a WH briefing Jan 18, IF not before... Alex M. Azar II White House briefing for reporters September 18, 2018Prepared for Delivery ** Most fundamentally, this strategy recognizes the importance of biodefense as a fundamental and distinct aspect of national security. Before 9/11, a future president understood this and recommended that we do a much better job of preparing for the possibility of a biological attack. “Our adversaries understand that if they are able to blindside us,” he wrote, “they will be much more likely to succeed in blackmailing us.”
That future president was Donald Trump, writing in the year 2000.With this strategy and President Trump’s strong commitment to defending the health and well-being of the American people, it’s going to get that much harder for any threat or any of our adversaries to blindside us. www.hhs.gov/about/leadership/secretary/speeches/2018-speeches/remarks-for-biodefense-briefing-at-the-white-house.html** Azar at Biodefense strategy conference April. 17, 2019 >> ALEX AZAR: Thank you for joining us here today. I'm here to help kick off this summit, because as HHS Secretary, as Dr. Bob Kadlec mentioned, President Trump appointed me to oversee the implementation of our new national biodefense strategy, and that effort is going to benefit greatly from your input and efforts. From the start, the national strategy was designed to be a highly collaborative effort, engaging the public and all key stakeholders is absolutely vital to successful work on a complex issue like biodefense. ** Now, this was a cooperative effort, with expertise from many domains, including the private sector. Many of you have been through the same journey that we have, but it's a cardinal rule of leadership that you have to have accountability, which means picking a leader, and that's a leadership lesson well understood by President Trump, who has a particular interest not just in our national security, but in preparedness for biodefense in particular. You know, this isn't a topic that crosses the minds of most Americans every day, thankfully. In order to keep it that way, we need to continuously improve our preparedness work, which is why the biodefense strategy is a blueprint for action. Since we officially launched the strategy at the White House back in September (September 18, 2018) , we've begun implementing on a number of fronts. First, we established the biodefense coordination team, a group of leaders that is chaired by Dr. Bob Kadlec that began meeting regularly to begin implementation. We've been extremely pleased with the buy in of leadership across the federal government so far, both members of the coordination team, as well as my fellow cabinet secretaries. www.phe.gov/Preparedness/biodefense-strategy/Pages/azar-transcript.aspx** On January 3, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar learned of the spread of COVID-19 in China. According to the WaPo, he could not raise Trump on the phone to warn him of the looming threat until January 18, at which point “the president interjected to ask about vaping and when flavored vaping products would be back on the market.” ** On F ebruary 5, Trump turned down an offer from Congress for supplemental funding for the pandemic. That same day, Azar asked the White House for $2 billion to buy respirators, and Trump pared that figure down by 75 percent. Two days later, the regime “facilitated the transportation of nearly 17.8 tons of donated medical supplies to the Chinese people, including masks, gowns, gauze, respirators, and other vital materials.” www.rawstory.com/2020/04/trump-appears-to-have-fraudulently-manipulated-financial-markets-yet-again/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=4212Let us not forget the 17.8 tons of donated supplies he flew to China Feb 7 and more promised!! www.state.gov/the-united-states-announces-assistance-to-combat-the-novel-coronavirus/

I really really want to know who could possibly be worse, according to the 17 people (so far) who have voted No in this poll.
trump is so far ahead in the "worst President ever" race, that no-one can possibly catch him. I can't image how bad someone has to be, to be considered worse than trump.

It had a bit on weekend up date concerning the coronavirus. It triggered me to remember hearing trump earlier in the day saying 'if only I knew sooner', ' who could have saw this coming' blah, blah, blah... Then later in the show, they mentioned the yet to be played Super Bowl. I checked the date of the show. It was Feb 1st. So, yeah, you mean to tell me SNL and it's writers knew about it before the sitting president of the US? I call BS. To say SNL did more about it than him by then would probably be correct. They were taking it 'serious' enough to air it. Maybe what he meant to say was, "If only I would have listened and taken it seriously enough to focus on it more than my golf games." You know how we're always misinterpreting and have to be scolded and back-splained to because we just don't get it. But presumably the people who answered "NO" to this poll wouldn't be assessing trump against some future President who might be worse - they must be assessing him against a previous President. My "interest" in and knowledge of American politics is only fairly recent (the last 2 decades I guess)...... so who in the history of the USA was so bad, did things so heinous, that he could be considered a worse president than trump? I really am very curious.

I voted Yes in the poll, but in terms of your question and history I would have to say possible candidates would be Andrew Jackson (for his treatment of American Indians), LBJ (for the escalation in Vietnam, although he did amazing things in other areas like Civil Rights), Hoover (for his escalation of the Great Depression), or Andrew Johnson (abandoned Reconstruction, opposed the 14th Amendment, was impeached). Edit: Apparently Trump is proud of the fact that he gets compared to Andrew Johnson www.washingtonpost.com/news/democracy-post/wp/2018/07/09/looking-back-at-andrew-johnson-the-president-most-like-trump/

LBJ (for the escalation in Vietnam Let's see, the Vietnam war lasted 16 years and killed around 58,000 Americans (I did google it) So far this virus has been around (at least commonly known about) for 4 months and so far around 8500 Americans have died from it. Trump is almost up to 2.5 years worth of Vietnam war deaths on his watch and won't take another 15 years to get another 50,000, so on that statistic alone he is going to much much worse than LBJ. His actions (or more correctly lack of action) is a major factor in how many virus deaths America will have. (this comment is directed at you personally, but at anyone who might be ticking "no" on the poll) US 'wasted months' before preparing for coronavirus pandemicjust one point:
