Getting ready for Passover tomorrow night. Thank heaven I bought an extra brisket at Chanukah and put it in the freezer, because no one is delivering them. I printed up our copies of the 30-Minute Seder Haggadah and I think we are all so desperate for diversion that we’ll do the full thing and even sing all the verses of Dayenu and drink all 4 cups of wine. The only thing missing is a lamb shank bone, but I wasn’t going hunting for one this year. Who else is having a Seder tomorrow night? What are you serving? What are you missing? This year, we aren’t even going to attempt to go the week without leavened bread - G-d will hopefully understand.

It’s cooked & cleaned and then cooked until dried & you don’t actually eat it anyway. I’ve also been known to use a chicken drumstick bone when lamb shanks were unavailable. I’ve seen carrots suggested on the Internet but to me that’s opposite of what it should be. I’d be more like to use a stem or rind or other not edible symbol. But it doesn’t really matter what you use or nothing. It will be fine. It’s all fine. The important thing will be family Next year may we all be with all our loved ones

Oh I forgot to answer
DS is having a seder I have no idea what is or isn’t missing. I been answering questions via text since Saturday. I know that there’s plenty of vegetables & a leg of lamb. But I don’t know what else.

No Seder here. But I do have that nice egg matzoh imported from Israel. So good with LOTS of butter. I guess I will really appreciate Seder next year. You enjoy yours.

I just saw egg Matza at Fred Meyers. I might get some, since it wouldn’t be passed over Easter without it.
*Passed over Easter is that holiday where your not very catholic father drags the family to Cleveland to spend the week with his Catholic aunt and the only time of the year that I am Jewish uncle. My uncle was a wonderful person who actually went along with this holiday! I wish I had been old enough to understand what was going on with Seder. Actually I never understood the whole Easter thing until I was 10 or so, After my uncle died.

We are having a zoom seder with 40 people, 20 locations in 4 time zones. Both nights! I ordered my seder plate contents from Chabad and they delivered it today. The “shankbone” looks like it came from a chicken.
We are all cooking our own meals obviously. Dd made charoset, my mom made us matzo balls and chicken soup for the kids. Dh and i are vegan so we have veggie soup. We will make chicken for the kids and we are having jackfruit brisket. Sides are tzimmis and greens. Dessert will be baked pears. Someone was giving them away on a local fb group. I traded her fabric face masks. Win win as we celebrate our freedom from slavery with a plague.
Happy passover to all. Next year ...all together, even if not in Jerusalem.

I should have thought to check our local Chabad for Seder-related deliveries - they always do the strict official matzoh - the exactly 3 seconds on the fire, etc. - but I bet this year they did more. While dh and I have been to Israel numerous times, we have never brought the boys. This whole thing has made me want to at least get ds1 over there in the next couple of years.

The Charoset (with plenty of cinnamon and manischewitz) helps counteract the digestive stoppage issue. I also like enough horseradish with it to make my sinuses open up.

I hope all of you have a nice Seder. I love the story of the Passover and all the traditions associated with it. It's amazing that the traditions have been passed from generation to generation for thousands of years. I hope all of you who are celebrating enjoy your evening and are able to spend time with your friends and family, even if you have to do it remotely.

Wishes for a blessed Passover for my Jewish friends. I’m thinking this particular Passover, with so much uncertainty of what is going on in the world, may be more in keeping with what your ancestors might have experienced on that first Passover.
May the Lord your G-d cause the angel of death to pass over your door during this current crisis.

We're hosting. Dh is going to figure out how to live stream it for my inlaws and my sil's. I'm doing a porch delivery of Matzoh ball soup and brisket to my inlaws. My mil will make the charoset.
My sil threw in that we should also turn it into a surprise 50th-anniversary celebration for my inlaws. Since their anniversary is on the 12th and no one has done anything about it. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I made 2 batches of mandelbrot yesterday, but saved all my seder prep for today. Soup veggies are done and I'm going to start on the charoset next. I bought my matzah early, and I was able to get my shank bone the other day (my pharmacy is in my supermarket so I didn't have to make a special trip. )
It's just the 5 of us for the seder this year. We found out today that DD's boyfriend's father might have the virus. He's immunocompromised, and we're very worried. She's a mess. It's starting to hit close to home for us. I want to paint lambs blood over the door. I'm only half joking.
Wishing you all a meaningful Pesach.

Not good for mine, either. I’ve never let that stop me. . Crumble that up and add it to eggs.... um Matzo brei is only good if you keep it light & separate pieces if it gets heavy or clumpy it looses its appeal quickly. And I do not like most matzo kugel. There was this one PBJ kugel that was quite good but the cook would not share the recipe 😕 But matzo egg combos can go really awry ( we are also a fluffy matzo ball family not a heavy matzo ball family - I know that’s quite a good fight there sometimes )

Happy Passover to you. I have my matzoh right here. I buy some every year just because I love it. With butter of course. Coincidentally...since you mentioned "Dayenu"... I was walking dogs this morning with a friend who's Jewish and we were talking about the absolutely gorgeous weather we have, and all the lovely flowers, and all the flowering trees that are blooming, and the birds were all chirping... We were saying how lucky were were that we have all those things at one time, and she said yes even one would have been enough.

Crumble that up and put it a fry pan. Sauté until kind of crispy and then add the beaten eggs to that. Scamble until the eggs set. I liked when she used the onion matzo.

No Seder for us this year, though I think I might Zoom in on my dd's congregation Seder on Friday night.

It's not anything you could call delicious, but it's a staple in our house every year. The recipe isn't worth sharing, tbh.

Chag Sameach to everyone who celebrates.
We enjoyed our zoom Seder more than we thought we would. The kids asked for another one tonight.
My mom did a food drop off. Turkey, meatballs, matzo stuffing, and pesach kamish - little dd preferred the kamish to my from scratch pesach brownie. I made charoset, matzo ball soup, salad, and overnight potatoes (but since we’re home I put them in all day and they were delicious). It was enjoyable. We also started the 10 commandments last night. I’m glad it’s a long weekend from school so we’ll have time to finish it.

Update
I had a super blessed seder. The food was delicious and I didn't cook or prepare a thing.
As an added bonus I have a suspicion that my Ex & my DS might have learned something valuable about creating a holiday dinner/tradition/whatever. Hopefully my DS carries that knowledge forward in his life.
It was a win win for me

Hopefully my DS carries that knowledge forward in his life. It was a win win for me I’m so glad it was wonderful. Ours was great too. We made it through the whole 30 minute Seder Haggadah- for the first time. The bonus was that brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork - no knife needed. It definitely is a memory we will hold for our lifetimes.

SO! We had a brief Zoom Seder tonight. My sisters, my kids, the grandkid, some of my nieces, also mom and stepdad popped in for a few minutes.
After everyone else left, my kids and I stayed (DS hosted the meeting) and visited for a long time. It was really nice. We’ll do that again sometime soon.
