My old sewing machine died halfway through my first mask. So frustrating, but it is at least 25 years old so not surprising.
Anyone making and selling masks?

I’m happy to send some. No charge. Just paying forward all the kind things peas have done for me. Message me your address and whether you want Olson masks or the ones Patter makes

I have sent a number out to peas, and will do more, if need be. My issue is that I don’t want to go to the post office any more. I was having to go a few nights a week - after they were closed, but the lobby open, and my son was asleep. I no longer want to do that. If people still need them, after the people above me have and are willing to send a pdf of a prepaid shipping label - obtained through either Usps.com or PayPal multi-order shipping (the cheapest way) - I’ll send them with no payment to me, just the label. I have both regular envelopes and flat-rate envelopes and will use whatever you want. These are the masks I am making now: www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/ I can make the nose-wire pocket and put in a pipe cleaner that can be removed for washing, if you would like. I am making them without the pocket for a filter; there is woven cotton on the outside and the inner layer is cotton flannel. Just let me know here or pm me.

Elaine, that is the pattern I settled on too! I'm using the directions from FabricPatch.NET (not .com). They are also using her pattern and crediting her but only posting the pattern WITHOUT the seam allowance on her site.
I'm using 910 Pellon inside as my filter. I'm using the large colorful floral wire from Dollar Tree, not sure what gauge but I've also used the smaller similar 16 gauge $1 colorful wire they have in the bead department at Walmart. I like both doubled AND I did sand the ends smooth but probably fine single. I didn't want sharp ends poking through the fabric and poking me in the nose.
I made a pocket tube INSIDE on the lining with Bias Tape, slid the wire in and sewed it shut. Won't have to worry about it rusting. Only thing different, I'm not looping around the ears, I'm going to the top of my head on the top one and around the base of my head for the bottom. Wore it all day today at work. Very comfortable except that it is a pain breathing through a mask. I did NOT smell the fabric softener sheets so that means it was doing its job! I'm just glad I thought to go around my head with the elastic and didn't have the loops go around my ears, 8 hours and your ears will let you know about it! My husband wore his yesterday and was pleased with the comfort of the mask since I didn't go around the ears.
I made my masks more to protect me from all the clorox wipes and other sanitizers rather than the virus but I figured if I couldn't smell the chemicals, it might protect me from the virus. The pleated ones might be easier to breathe in but wouldn't filter out the chemicals that I need filtered out.

You may want to try Facebook online classified groups. I saw one tonight where they were being sold for $3.00 each. I'd prefer just to buy a pack of disposable masks, but I can't find them anywhere.
I don't know of a better solution, you buy online, someone may have to go to the post office. You buy in person, you go out of the house.

These are the ones I'm making. They have an opening on the inside so a filter can be inserted. If anyone wants a few for themselves and family I can send them by walking down the street and putting them in our cluster mail box. IMG_4520 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr

I would love to buy several! I'm in Florida (live in Chicago) and we have been trying to make our own without sewing. They either don't stay on or we can't breathe I ordered bandanas but they won't come for a while...

I am making the Olson mask and will have another stack of them after this weekend. If anyone needs them just message me. I don't want anything for them, just cover shipping (priority mail because I can send from my house).

I just bought a pack of disposable masks at our Macey’s tonight. Maybe call yours and see if they have them. They were at the checkout.

I had a little kitty help too with my sewing. Thankfully I got them all in plastic bags before she decide "help". Most of these have gone to my son (essential retail and his co-workers), my sister (essential government) and my stepkids who are RN's and are not getting masks at the hospital unless they are working with a confirmed Covid patient I do have a few of the ones with the pocket in the back for filter that I can mail to peas who need them. Our county just passed an order to wear masks if you go in public so I'll have to fire up the machine again this weekend to keep us all covered.
