Hang in there. It gets better. That is how it was here a couple of weeks ago when I went. It took a day to recover emotionally, it was a big day. Now it is nice and organized with a long line to get in but an easy shopping experience with a limited number of people in the store. The line took 37 minutes to get in and by the time I shopped, waited, loaded up, and drove 45 minutes each way it was time to unload, shower, put groceries away and make supper. I didnt mind the line outside because it was beautiful but storms came in fast, bad weather could be worrisome. Stress filled, but calm. I wish inside of Costco was always like that. Agree, I told my Husband what a process this is!! Wipe the door handles, cart, steering wheel...hands hands hands. Do not touch face, cannot see foggy glasses... ugh, get all the groceries in bleach them down, wash the fruit, veggies in soapy water (ick I know). Put it all away...clean counters with bleach, door knobs, light switches. strip naked...get in shower. Disinfect mask and clothes in sanitize washer setting. It is an ordeal and I keep saying I am just going to get a few things but when you see how empty the shelves are you buy things just in case it is not there next time!!! ugh. Would be so much easier if I did not have teens, kids eating because they are bored!

I haven't gone in a store in over a month and only left home for essential medical appt. Because I was out I scheduled a WalMart pickup same day to be put directly in my trunk. As I waited in my spot, I watched people coming and going from store. Many (most?) were wearing masks. What I did notice was many who weren't appeared to be the ones that should- older and/or frail. I don't get it. Of course today I heard someone (I know) say Bill Gates and the techies made covid19 to track us. So yeah, nothing should surprise me at this point, but it does.

I went today too. My last trip was 11 days ago. Could have made it longer but we needed cat food! At least I got that curbside pickup at Petsmart. Target was pretty well stocked. MOUNTAINS of toilet paper. I got a couple bags of Easter candy to treat ourselves, and scored the saltine crackers I couldn't find last time. The grocery store was a lot more crowded and stressful, I'm sure becasue of the holiday. They still had everything in stock I wanted, so I was happy. As far as masks, fewer than a quarter of the shoppers and none of the workers were wearing them. There were enough people with them to keep me from feeling self concious about mine, which was nice. It made my glasses fog up too much though, I might need to make another using a different pattern.

I’m sorry, but I laughed. Hard. But that’s because I empathize completely - because that’s what grocery shopping is now like! Running the trench gauntlet in 1917!

Masks do not prevent anyone from getting this virus. So judging the elderly on the fact that they didn’t wear one is ridiculous. The non-medical masks prevent the wearer from passing it on. They don’t protect you unless you have an N 95 mask on or something of the like

I haven't been inside a grocery store in 3+ weeks. Tuesday, I went to the gas station to get gas, propane cylinder refill, milk, bread and yogurt. I had myself totally freaked out by the time I got back to the car that I was afraid to take off my mask...so I drove home with it on.
I'm going to have to go out next week. My mom said that she was at the store yesterday and the meat and TP were both almost fully stocked.

I also haven’t been out in three weeks. I’ve been fortunate that my local Fred Meyer/Kroger has a delivery service that is still functioning well (so far). I’m curious what my downtown area looks like now - our Fred Meyer, Costco, and Walmart are all next to each other - but I don’t want venture out if I don’t absolutely need to and I know I’m fortunate that I haven’t been required to lately. Next week, though, my son has to have some blood work done so we’ll be headed to the lab . On a happier note the sky is more intensely blue than I’ve seen it in a long time - a benefit I guess from having less cars on the roads.

I went this morning too. Last time I went was 11 days ago. It was amazing to see the changes: 11 days ago? Maybe one person in a mask and I remember thinking: "huh, that's extreme." Today? Maybe one person without and I thought "stay the eff away from me, you freak!" Got pretty much everything I needed - store was stocked well on pretty much everything. Even TP. Next time I venture out I have to take a list. I forgot one thing and there was no way I was going back. I noticed the same thing! I went to Costco this morning for the first time in two weeks and in just that time EVERYONE was wearing a mask. I even saw some bikers and joggers wearing them as I was driving home. Costco wasn't bad because the store is so huge and they're limited the number of people who can go in at one time. I prefer it over my regular grocery store because it's easier to stay away from people. And everyone was being polite and not passing too closely, or waiting off to the side if someone was already near what they wanted to buy.

I'm kind of glad to hear other people are coming home with things they don't remember putting in their cart. I think it's just the whole surreal experience. The good news is I have plenty of cheese sticks.

I found it difficult to wear the mask during my entire shopping trip, and I'm used to masks from working in a hospital! But my fitted one is fitted properly and is only for visiting certain types of patients (TB for example). The other disposable masks are just that...disposable. So I only wear one in a particular patient's room, then I throw it away. So I never realized how it would be to wear one for a couple of hours.

I swear a chic fil a manager took over our WM grocery pick up. I haven’t had to go inside a store since all this started.
I just did a huge pick up order today (for us and my MIL). There were minimal out of stock items and our subs were all fine (things like 2 smaller bottles of ranch instead of one big one). It was ready early. I checked in on my way and the worker was outside waiting with my stuff when I got there. Loaded it up without me having to touch or sign anything. I was the only one there. In and out in under ten minutes. No problem getting a spot.

My ddil just got home from grocery shopping. She even found toilet paper!! And rice, and eggs. She was doing the happy dance when she got home. Our home has 10 people living here, so yes, we go through a LOT of toilet paper because everybody is home. Three living here are small children, so the eggs will be for them to color and hide for Easter. She even found some Easter candy. Besides all that, she bought some fresh strawberries. Yum!!

I cannot even imagine and know I would not deal with this well at all. It's been 4 weeks tomorrow since I've been in a grocery store and it stressed me out so badly that I won't be back if I can avoid it at all. I'd rather keep checking many multiple times daily for a random delivery opening than visit the store in person.
Going to the (quiet) pharmacy to pick up prescriptions the other day was anxiety inducing enough for me.
I bow down to those of you visiting stores in person, you all are amazing!

I needed to get more of the soup DD likes so I went to Target. The soup section, which is normally about 16’ long, was reduced to like 4’ and it was nearly completely wiped out even though there were limits posted. The cereal aisle was pretty much fully stocked and I had no trouble finding what I wanted there. I never even looked at the cleaning stuff aisle because I knew from the whiteboard at the entrance that there was nothing there anyway. The aisles of Easter candy and stuff were plentiful.
In my rush to get the heck out of there I forgot to even look for milk chocolate chips. Normally I have 3-4 bags of them in my baking pantry at all times and of course now that we’re home for weeks on end I’m totally out. I have every other kind of chips though. Andes mint, peanut butter, white chocolate, dark chocolate, semi sweet chocolate, even cinnamon. Even mini chips and mini m&m’s. WTH?
Surprisingly though, the store was not remotely crowded. Customers were well spaced out and avoiding one another, some had masks and some didn’t. The cashiers had masks but many of the rank and file floor stock employees didn’t. There were several groups with a mom and 2-3-4 kids shopping like nothing was unusual. I’d be willing to bet the grocery store in the same strip mall was crazier though. I avoid that place under normal circumstances but now you couldn’t pay me to go in there.

I wasnt looking but I dodmt see cleaning wipes and they sold out of TP, but I found everything else I needed. They had chicken tacos (praise!) They were out when my neighbor went last week. The worst part was waiting to go in, the next time I'll bring a book.

I know the nose is too loose. I made the design with the lengthwise pleats and then added a pair of tiny pleats on the top edge to tighten it up by my nose. Maybe it will soften up after a wash (two layers quilting fabric and 2 layers interfacing) and fit better.

Look up "flute breathing"...this is how we were taught at my hospital anyway. Shape your mouth as if you're playing the flute and direct the air downward. It takes practice. I do actually play the flute though, so maybe that's why it wasn't too difficult for me to remember when wearing a mask.

I am lucky that I have a good store only a couple blocks near me and they have good prices. So I have had to do large grocery runs.
But today I went to the restaurant supply store to buy lettuce and half and half. No boxes of lettuce. Lots of milk product.
Went to winco. Omg I am so depressed just thinking about it. So quiet, and sad. Everybody in masks, acting like the person near them is Typhoid Mary. ( one guy made me laugh as he was wearing men’s underwear for a mask. All I kept thinking wa those were his boyfriend’s used ones. ).

All the posts about crowded stores with empty shelves is really surprising to me. I shop at a fairly large store and I've not had problems with crowds or finding needed items. The store is sanitizing carts, they have had TP, food and all other essentials I need except for hand sanitizer.
I'm not stressed or anxious about going grocery shopping knowing I'm doing what is within my control to be clean and safe. There is no way we can totally eliminate all possibility of getting the virus. Being anxious just wears me and my immune system down, which isn't healthy either.

I went yesterday to my Costco. I didn’t have to get any prize toilet paper, wipes, or sanitizer. I went at 3:30. No one was there. It was great! I did not find everything I wanted- no precooked ribs, nounsalted peanuts. But found other things to substitute. I never saw the clothing section so neat. No one was in it at all.

There is an immune compromised person in my household so we decided not to go to the store. I don't know how but I forgot about Easter being this Sunday. (well, this whole situation is kinda disorienting, and I'm not getting together with family like usual ~35 people.)
We placed an online delivery order a couple of days ago (instacart was recommended by bil) and won't get it until the 21st! I'm probably going to try Whole Foods/Amazon but we are frugal shoppers and rarely go there.
Life is different that's for sure.

I went to the store today & it wasn't too bad. It was odd because of what they were out of, mostly in the refrigerated section--no biscuits, cresents, or anything Pillsbury makes (or store brand either) and the ice cream section was pretty picked over too. They had lots of meats, flour, fruits, veggies, bread, canned items, etc. I was excited to see that the one-way aisles matched up with my usual route thru the store!

I haven't gone in weeks. I've gotten 2 Instacart orders from Publix (thanks to some sweet Peas here!!) which were a blessing. Last night I was cleaning out the freezer and realized how low we were on meat. We normally go to Sam's Club and/or a butcher here..... There's no way in the world I'd go to Sam's Club now. I contacted the butcher via msging, arranged a time to go and he said that if I had a written list of meats I wanted, he'd prepare it while I wait outside or inside. They only let a few people in the store at a time, so I quickly picked up pasta and grated cheese, some pre-made soup for DD and by then my meat order was ready (and this butcher store accept Foodstamps, so I was happy about that!!)
Besides wearing a mask, gloves, my eyepatch and glasses, it felt like a lot. I REALLY feel for the healthcare professionals who have to don their PPE stuff for 12 hour shifts in the heat of hospitals. I don't know how they do it and I'm sure that the heat and equipment is not a big deal compared to everything else they have to suffer with.
The store was really quiet, empty and clean. I kinda wish that stores could always be like this! I came home, took off my shoes on my lanai, unpacked my bags into a clean bag and brought them in, and showered off. Phew! At least I have meat if I want to make my sauce and meatballs for Easter Sunday.
DD(32!!) actually later asked, "Where's the Easter chocolate?" Are you freakin' kidding me??? I risk DH's life every time I go out or step into a store......... Ain't gonna happen!
