...we have to have our entire leach field completely replaced. *sigh* $10-15K down the shitter, literally.
2020 can end any time now thanks.

Ugh! I feel your pain. This one of the reasons I'm leaning towards condo type living if I ever get out of here/move.

I don't know what a leach field is, but that sucks. Hope it gets fixed soon.

I had to look up leach field, and now I've learned a new term. I think we always just called it the septic drain but I'm not sure. Anyway, that sucks so bad! 2020 just cannot stop smacking us around. Its crazy.

Ugh! I'm so sorry! That is a bummer!!! 2 nights ago we had very severe storms and a tornado touched down in our city. It touched down 2 miles beyond our house, so we were spared the wind damage, but there was golf ball sized hail and dh's 7 month old car is full of dents. We let DS park in the garage where DH usually would because he bought himself a brand new car last May at the age of 19. It is actually a brand new car (not just new to him) and we didn't want him to take the brunt of the hail damage, but even knowing there would be damage, it still sucks! Of course, DH's car has the highest insurance deductible on it!

For anyone that doesn't know, the leach field is the part of a septic system that leaches the water away from your septic tank. Our system is only 15 years old... and wasn't installed properly(according to the guy that just fixed our neighbors leach field right before Christmas).
It's not the end of the world, I know. I'm thankful that we have the money to replace it. It just messes up the plans I had for that money. And I was having a bit of a pity party. I'm over it now...it is what it is. And it's not something we can live without. But it's definitely an inconvenient time. LOL All 5 people home all day, every day. And everyone here is full of shit!! 😁😁😁

I had to have that done at a previous house with the ex-husband. It's such a non-fun and yucky thing to drop so much cash on. Not even one of those home improvements you want to show off or brag about. I feel your pain. It's just a shitty thing. (Sorry... couldn't help myself!)

brandy327, that sucks. So not fun. I do like your attitude though. lol. We bought this house January 2019, last day of, went to have the septic cleaned this summer. 2 tanks, guess where the opening is to the main tank. They built the effing pool deck right on top of it. UGH. The filter and everything is right there as well. So we're moving the filter and such before opening it up this year. DH was hoping to re-brace the deck and move the part that is over the opening this year too, but we have to wait to get out of quarantine for that. birdy, that stinks. I couldn't help thinking, the things we do for our kids, while reading. I would have done the exact same, but it still stinks.

Thankfully our entire system is pretty small and it's shallow. It could have been a LOT more expensive.

Is the guy that fixed your neighbor’s leach field going to fix yours? I’m sorry you have to deal with this!

brandy327 I want to give you one tip. If you had a plumber give you a quote, try having an excavation company give you a quote. It should be significantly cheaper. I found this out about replacing our sewer line. We plan to have this done next spring. The plumber quoted me $7000. The excavation company quoted me $3000-$4000. Significantly less. Of course the job is going to completely ruin my landscaping in the front of my house so we will have to fix that as well. But we felt better about the second quote. Hugs. This is never the kind of news anyone wants to hear.
