My oldest graduated last year and my youngest is a sophomore, but my heart breaks for my students, friends, and their families who don't get to celebrate or maybe even have their graduation.
So, I'm ordering some outdoor decorations and on the day that graduation should have been held, I am going to decorate my yard (and maybe a sign out on the busy road near my house) in Class of 2020 and Congratulations decor.
I know it isn't much, but it is something.
FWIW, graduation isn't until the middle of May here, but I wanted to order early so that it has plenty of time to get here.

That's so nice of you! I'm sure they will appreciate that people are thinking of them.

I ordered multiple banners in school colors (both the school district I live in and the one I teach in) and some yard signs. I also got a couple of extra to give to friends.
I hope I can make it go viral. We have small towns (like 5000 for one and less than 3000 for the other district which encompasses 3 towns) so someone knows somebody that goes to school at, graduated from, or works at one of these schools.

As the mom of a 2020 Senior, thank you!! This has been such a abrupt end to their year. Our district still plans on having a ceremony. The original date in May is still on as are 2 alternate days for June or July. But many are just canceling them or doing virtual ones. So thank you for celebrating the Seniors in your area!

My senior got an email today letting him know he can drive by and pick up his cap and gown on the 28th. They don't know what the plan is yet for graduation (the plan is still to return to school in May 1st. That hasn't been officially changed yet) But they do plan to do something for the seniors. I guess we will see. At least this way we can still do cap and gown pictures.
My oldest's, who is graduating from college, school has already had commencement cancelled and put a hold on all cap and gown orders, even though they have tentatively planned a ceremony at the end of August.

I love this idea! I do have a college senior who’s graduation has been cancelled, and I just saw lots of supplies at the grocery store. Will have to look for them on my next trip and plan to make a big banner.
And then I think I’ll hang signs and decorations in front of the houses of my HS senior Girl Scouts a month later in early June. We learned today that the rest of the school year has just been cancelled.

Thank you for doing this. My DD is graduating HS this year. It's been a hard battle for her. Without going into too much detail, I will say that we had numerous IEP meetings since she was in first grade. I was looking forward to her graduation ever since I had figured out her grad year would be 2020 (so pretty much ever since kindergarten). I though it would be such a cool grad year. The idea that we can't celebrate it in the traditional way is breaking my heart.
She's cool with it though. She has come up with a new attitude. She said tradition is just peer pressure coming from your dead relatives.
