My cousin recommended this handy little app called PictureThis. It uses your phone's camera to identify plants and flowers. I've found it highly entertaining. It's also been really useful as we moved to a new house and I'm trying to identify what's planted in the landscape.

My first guess is unripe blackberries. They usually stand up, where raspberries droop down.

Blackberries or raspberries that aren’t ripe yet. The leaf shape looks like either of those. Raspberries also come in a variety of colors now, so it could be a hybrid.
Regardless, I wouldn’t eat the berries unless I knew for sure what they were.

Are they not raspberries? Heck if I know. My dad sent me a photo asking me to figure it out. He wanted to eat one but was afraid. They were on his walk. Raspberries would be strange for my area but I guess not unheard of.

I’ll tell him to leave them alone.

According to my app called Plantsnap, it is a blackberry.
Plantsnap is a free app that let's you take the picture of any plant and it matches it up.

Raspberries tend to hang and the leaves aren't super pointy at the edges. Blackberries stand up and have sharp pointy edge leaves.
I say blackberries that still have a long way to go before being ready to eat.

They look like unripe salmonberries to me. It’s waaaaay too early (here) for even unripe blackberries.
ETA: I just noticed the stems further back in the leaves are green. Probably blackberries. Salmonberries have brown branches.

Unripe wild raspberry or other "bramble". They come in red or black but even the red are much deeper and juicier looking. Those are hard & not good yet. Later I'd fight ya for them.😉 northernwoodlands.org/knots_and_bolts/wild-bramblesHard to tell exactly which bramble berry they are, but all are tasty.

I would say unripe blackberries. I wouldn't eat them like that though, they're not ready.

Yep, they are very sour at that stage. Not good at all. I would say unripe blackberries. I wouldn't eat them like that though, they're not ready.

Word of warning if you do get that "picture this" app....Make sure you read the fine print. Its only free for 7 days. Then they will charge you a yearly subscription for it. It was hard to find the instructions to cancel...just FYI because it wasn't clear (at least to me) before I downloaded it.

It was hard to find the instructions to cancel...just FYI because it wasn't clear (at least to me) before I downloaded it. And I just deleted it. Thanks for the info. Not going to pay for this, esp as it’s advertised as a free app. I went through the FAQ and followed the steps to not renew a subscription. We don’t have any subs in our acct so I guess I’m good?

Hopefully... that’s what I did too but I’m still going to check back after a week to make sure nothing pops up as a charge.

My cousin recommended this handy little app called PictureThis. I used to use Picture This when it was free. Then all of a sudden, I couldn't use it anymore without paying! My son said the same thing! We both got rid of that app.

We both got rid of that app. I originally got it when it was free. I have never upgraded to the paid subscription, but I'm still able to use the basic features... just not the upgraded ones. My DIL has the paid sub and can do more with it than I can. For example, it 'saves' all her inquiries which gives her a catalog of what's in the yard that she can use when she goes to the nursery.
