My DS came home with DGS when he was 3 as well (now 11). Eventually I had to throw out DS, but I kept the kid. DS straightened out his life, got married, and now he takes the 11yo on weekends ... and he has kept him for most of this COVID time. So I miss my baby! So glad your son got his life straightened out. My son had some rough patches as well. Depression hit hard as he really wanted to be a family, but his baby's mamma was way too young and had a horrible upbringing that resulted in not being good mother material. She later had another child and that child also is now with his father. I bet it is hard to not have your grandson with you. I know I sure would have been lost without mine. He was just in here chit-chatting with me. When he got up to leave, it was like you're leaving already. I cherish our chats. yes Mine called me tonight because he missed me. I was unreasonably happy about it.

You forgot an option for me. Raising grandchildren not only counts as a “whole family,” but you get extra credit for it as well.

In our house it's me, DH, the 2 DD's and 2 kitties. Oh and one fish. He showed up just before the pandemic started.

but one boy is getting married this week, so he'll be leaving It's a tough time to be getting married. I'm living with DH, DD(23) and DS(21). By far, this has been hardest on the young adults in the house. Yes it is hard!! They had to go to a neighboring county to get the license because ours in our county are all closed. They had to pare down their guest list to 10--from close to 200. They had to put of any type of honeymoon, but thankfully, they have a nice a house waiting for them. They had to make a lot of concessions for sure. I have a granddaughter getting married in September, and I'm hoping this stuff is over by then!!

i live with my kids on week on/week off basis. the "off" weeks i am here by myself. strange for me as i have never lived along before and am pushing 50. i moved out of my mom's and in with my then-bf (now ex). i thought briefly about a pet but i know i really *don't* want on. it sucks the kids have to go to their dad's. he rented a 2 bdrm bsmt apt in another neighbourhood (we have 3 kids). he works long hours and it's a densely populated area with tons of people around all the time so kids don't go for walks or get out when with him. i have been home but he refuses to allow me to have them extra time during this... as my daughter says.... not because he wants the time, but to spite me. even when their dad *is* there, he doesn't do much with them at all. but it's HIS time and they are HIS. i feel bad for my kids. i wish i could change the situation.

Not sure what “entire family” consists of. Our household consists of me, DH, DS, and my uncle, cat and dog. All are adults.

I live with three Vietnamese teens who are here attending high school. One will graduate this year but possibly stay with me for the summer, one will definately stay here over summer, and the third has a plane ticket and plans to go home to Hanoi in two weeks for the summer. (Hopefully she will be able to return back here for the fall). She will be replaced temporarily with a Chinese student who will stay with me until she can fly home on the 25th for the summer. If my daughter's internship here does not get cancelled (the company still hasn't decided if they will return to working in the office) then she will also join me later this month. If it does get cancelled, then she will either stay in College Station or come home...depending on where(and if)she can find other summer internship/employment.

Not sure what “entire family” consists of. Yes, I felt a little twinge in being told my family is incomplete.
