I sometimes prefer to cut and paste because I'm responding to a statement, not an individual. Yes, or because they have a long post and I only want to comment on one small part of it. BUT, in my example you could still hit the Quote button and then just delete the unwanted extra material if you would rather.

I went to summer camp with a Precious, college with Crystal Dick and Candy Kane (who had a sister with another funny name, but I can't remember what it was), and babysat for Jay Walker's kids (who didn't let his name stop him - he went on to found Priceline.com). I also knew a Mary Airy (her married name), and my cousin recently married a girl named Alison. Her married name is now Alison Alison.

A friend of mine went to work at a company in a Human Resources Dept. Her supervisor was named Sapphire. Not a crazy name, but different.

I will say from a genealogial standpoint, unusual names are a mixed blessing. Try searching for "your" John McHue or Mary Rossi and you can go crazy trying to sort them all out. But when you are looking for Wellington or Banfield, there's likely to be only one. However, when you're searching for Milenna and her name is spelled differently every single place she is mentioned, then it's an issue. The good news is that these days, it's less likely that even an unusual name will be misspelled on anything important as opposed to 200 years ago when some people didn't know how to spell their own name.

Sparki , Princess Heaven has kids now (with her last name), and their names are unusual as well. I want to say she has a daughter named Angel Heaven, but I'm not positive. I see your War Eagle - what part of AL are you in? Or, I guess I should say where did you go to high school? I'm wondering if I know you in real life. Princess was always really sweet to me....she lives in Houston now, I think. I just sent her a friend request on FB.

I had two Uniques, the same year. One of my student's little brother's name was AB (no periods, no dashes, no spaces, both capitalized, pronounced Abie.) Another teacher had an ABCD (Abe-see-dee.) My first year, there were twins Base Pipe and Thai Stick (not spelled that way, but pronounced- both are drug related and had drug addict parents- they went by Base and Tai.)
You see a lot of different names in over twenty years of teaching.

My son went to school with a Sparkle. The local paper had a list of unusual names and I remember Chrystal Chanda Lear.
Our CEO's last name is Grewcock. Yikes. I'd keep my maiden name!

I subbed in a 4th grade classroom today. A student's name was spelled Jailynnnd. (no, my 'n' did not get stuck. Seriously, 3 n's).
I asked him if his name was pronounced Jay-lind. He told me that no, it was Jay-lin. The d was silent. (WTH?)

I am a teacher. Many years ago I had a little girl named Autumn Breezome, and she lived on Fallen Leaf Ln. This year I have a Cray. It takes everything in me not to call him Cray Cray. WTH were his parents thinking?

The La-a thing is an urban legend. You can find an entry on snopes.com. It's hard for me to take seriously anyone who repeats it. As crazy as that name sounds I totally believe it's possible there's one woman in the United States named La-a. I'm surrounded by kids who's parents wanted to make them different by giving them "unique" names. If I know a Jack Frost, it's entirely possible La-a is somewhere out there.

We played soccer a few weeks ago and there was a Miracle on the other team. That reminds me of the movie History of the World. A favorite of mine.

I'm on the fence about the "fah Molly" or any version of it...I've heard that story so many times dating back years and from so many different people. Not saying it's NOT true, I'm just saying I question it's legitimacy. I checked Snopes and found this: Snopes Funny Names linkI used to work for a medical billing company and I did indeed come across this more than once. How did I miss this hilarious thread?! My neighbors named their kids Colorado & Acadia, but that's all I got on the unusual name front. And no, that's not where they were conceived (so they say). Those are just places they love.

I had L-R show upon my kindergarten roster this year...my first thought was the Peas saying L-a as ladasha didn't exist and I was bracing myself for a 'Ladasher' or something similar. Turned out she had two middle names, Lolita-Renee, and it wouldn't fit in the system so they shortened it to L-R for the computer. Phew!

I worked with a girl from India and her name was Animol(not sure of the exact spelling) and in her language it means something nice. But when she realized it sounded like the English word animal she changed it to Ann.
