Good morning. I'm not sure what to make tonight. I didn't plan properly this week and it's coming back to bite me. I'm sure that I'll come up w/or steal an idea from the thread. Last night's tarragon chicken was a big hit and it was so easy to make.
What's on your menu?
**GypsyGirl**, please join us and if you bring that adorable kitten you'll get bonus points.

We're having Salmon burgers and fries tonight.
This weekend is all about packing for the move. The contractor sent pics, the house renovations will be completed by the beginning of June. We have maybe 3 weeks before we move. If all goes as planned and on schedule.

Dd1 is taking me “out” for late Mother’s Day to tipsy cow for milkshakes, burgers and fries where we will eat in the car because everything is still closed here. We are going on a hike first because it’s going to be a nice day and now hiking is allowed.
Dh will have leftovers for dinner.

Good morning! scrapmaven I am sure you will figure out dinner and it will be a hit! paget Enjoy your time with your daughter! psiluvu What is significant about May 24th? ODS had a medical teleconference appointment this morning. I got up and didn’t get showered, dressed, brush My hair, or put on makeup and the stinker kept putting the camera on me. I am sure I frightened the doctors (women) or they probably thought that isolation hasn’t been doing me any favors. Last night the salmon and rice with broccoli and corn was delicious. I haven’t thought what is on tonight’s menu. Off to check the freezer. I hope that all of you have a lovely day and I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

destined2bmom, I haven't worn make up or jewelry for 2 months and I quite like it. Now that I'm going out more, I have to remind myself to at least put on some mascara.
I did grocery shopping this morning: WalMart pick up and Aldi. Things are virtually normal here in terms of shopping, except about 90% of people are in masks. I'm able to easily get a WM pick up time and so far no meat shortages. At least in my corner of Georgia, the number of people hospitalized continues to go DOWN and the percent of people testing positive is also going down. In my county, I'm seeing a lot of compliance with masks and social distancing. Fingers crossed.
Tonight is bourbon salmon and wild rice and a veggie.
Enjoy the weekend!

psiluvu What is significant about May 24th? The official name is Victoria day. A day to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday on May 24. Despite that it is always the 3rd Monday in May. As Queen Victoria has been dead for many years and it is the unofficial kick off to the summer people (in Ontario, not sure about the rest of Canada) refer to it as May 24, with most times 24 referencing a case of 24 beer

Today is Flashback Friday and I'm making a chicken and pasta casserole straight out of the 1970's, complete with the obligatory can of cream of chicken soup. I sure hope the self-appointed designated household shopper does his job soon. I have tons of meat in the freezer and a well stocked pantry (thanks to Amazon and Walmart.com), but planning and cooking dinner 7 days a week sucks enough without not having any vegetables or dairy available.

I finally heard from my HR department. I was assigned Mondays off. No choice. But they couldn't have picked a better day for me. I was also told that we should plan to work from home until August. So there's that. I was also told not to log in and file a claim with unemployment until I get further instruction. It seems we are eligible for something but HR hasn't yet determined what so we are on hold. And I was given the afternoon off. If you're counting that means I'm free until Tuesday!!!! All in all, good news all around. I'm a happy gal right now. Since I derailed my own dinner plans last night, I will go forth with the tortellini tonight. And I will spend my afternoon doing? Who knows. I will play for sure. Good day, ladies!

jeremysgirl, I looked at your pretty shawl. You did a lovely job. Thank you! I had fun with that one. I can't wait to wear it in public and see the reactions I get. HAHA! I got up and didn’t get showered, dressed, brush My hair, or put on makeup and the stinker kept putting the camera on me. I am sure I frightened the doctors (women) or they probably thought that isolation hasn’t been doing me any favors. I've been playing fast and loose with showers. I take one everyday, just not my normal can't get going in the morning without a shower routine.

Happy Friday! I have just come off a Zoom call with some of my knitting friends in the UK and one from Norway - we all met up through Ravelry many years ago, and have had a few weekend 'retreats' together. I haven't seen them since 2 years ago, so it was great to catch up. DH had a check up with his urologist today (follow up from prostate issues a few years back) and all is well, though he needs another scan as she thinks he has a kidney stone. While he was in the city, he went to the main open-air market there and bought loads of fresh food - fish, chicken, sausages and seafood mix. As a result of his adventures, tonight's dinner is whole dorade, which he has seasoned with fresh herbs from the balcony and lemon. It will be served with fries and maybe salad.

Happy Friday everyone!! jeremysgirl- I'm so glad your scheduling/ day off worked out. What state do you live in that you can claim unemployment for a partial layoff? I'm not experienced with unemployment, but it's a lifesaver right now, since I'm unemployed. But wish I'd find a job soon. I'd much rather be working. DH is still at the ranch. So no dinner plans here, probably baked sweet potato again with some black beans. I'm feeling a little off kilter today, I had planned to go to the ranch this week with DH, but he left on Wednesday after they had a lot of rain and he wanted to check cattle. It's a good thing he did, he had a heifer calving and she had some problems. All worked out and the calf is fine. I thought about driving down today, but he's invited friends to join him for the weekend,so it's likely to be a guys drinking weekend, so I'll stay home and sew, etc. But I feel a little guilty not going to the ranch with him. Soon it will be so hot that I won't want to go with him. Have a great Friday!

austnscrapaddict it's not really unemployment. They are saying a federal work share program. So something special during covid. We shall see what happens.

I couldn’t sleep last night because I have terrible heartburn. It won’t go away. I currently have mylanta chilling in the freezer. Hopefully that does the trick because gum, Prilosec and Pepcid haven’t worked.
So dinner is up in the air.

Tonight's dinner will be the chicken tenders I was supposed to have last night, although I am going to try a new Cashew Chicken recipe instead of oven baking. DD texted yesterday afternoon late that she was going to a favorite local restaurant for take away and wondered if I wanted anything. She brought me a gyro which was much better than cooking!
No kitten time today, but I'm sure he'll be back this weekend. I sure hope he finds his permanent family soon. Whoever they are, they are sure missing some fun times! I

We are having grilled chicken, spinach/rice casserole, and fruit cups.
I did the grocery shopping today for the first time since the start of quarantine. Numerous shoppers without masks. And no way to be six feet away from someone. I will not be returning to that particular store.
Thanks for the thread. Enjoy your weekend. Still resting???

I found a pinterest recipe for grilled chicken asparagus pesto pasta. I have fresh asparagus from my mother. I also bought some michelob ultra infusion beer with lime and prickly pear cactus. Should pair well. 😉😂

Our neighborhood has been having a variety of food trucks coming in since covid/sip and tonight we're taking advantage of the service of Billy G's Carolina BBQ. Pulled pork Carolina rolls w/crispy fries, coleslaw, and pickles.

Dinner will be loaded fries and a mango jicama slaw tonight. We have reached the stage of quarantine when DS(21) and the pup decided to join me for a curbside pick-up at Kohl's. Anything to get out of the house and go somewhere. We were also entertained by the Thunderbird fly over earlier. The first photo is them approaching and the second shows most of them passing just to the east of us. A couple of the planes split off and flew right over our house but I didn't get a good photo.

What won’t you eat?
What is weird that you eat?

I'm not a picky eater at all. But I don't eat things that have a lot of cumin in them, for whatever reason cumin really tastes bad to me. Weird? I like salt and black pepper on cantaloupe. Quick poll for fun: Are you a picky eater yes or no? What won’t you eat? What is weird that you eat? Go!
