In person, not a bad price (even if the content was all the same and they hosted it in property they owned, therefore no venue costs for them because the atmosphere and going into their warehouse would be awesome)...virtually...heck no. Now, if they had a warehouse sale open to everyone the way Echo Park did...I could probably spend that much easily, lol.

While I appreciate Simple Stories jumping in to clarify, I think it is much too high. Simple Stories is guilty by association...while this wasn't the initial crop offered, they have their name attached to it and are seemingly ok with it. Which is sad, because SS has always been well priced and known for quality. But these prices are higher than what even Studio Calico charges and we all know they grab every dime possible.

I don't know if anyone else was signed up for this but they just announced it has been cancelled. I'm steaming.

I saw elsewhere they had some legal hurdles due to it being online. I wonder if using the name companies name in the title bit them in the butt. It sure sounded like it was sponsored by Simple Stories from the description I read. I never signed up, but I get the emails from the place hosting the retreat for some reason. I wouldn’t have realized it was separate from SS if they hadn’t posted here.

And they didn't stop to think or question if that was legally okay? 🤦♀️

The person who puts these together used to own my local scrapbook store (she sold it last fall) and is now doing events like this.
The pricing for these events have always been very high. And she always featuring a specific company in her events. She had/has one planned with Hero Arts later this year.
Her emails never said the full price for the in person event, but it was a $100 deposit for the Simple Stories one.

For a craft board there is a lot of negativity! I have been to the in person events and they are awesome!! This event went virtual Bc of a world wide pandemic. I thought the $125 cost was totally reasonable! You got TWO classes, one from Layle which is a mini book and those are typically $60 alone! Plus a card class, swag bag, crop time, prizes and virtual shopping trip! Though I am disappointed the visit is cancelled, I am sure that it was something beyond their control. As this late, I would imagine she took a huge loss. Plus everyone is getting a full refund. What else do people expect!

I've done events with this company before - and yes, they are pricey, but they are definitely a premium experience too. I went to the Lawn Fawn one in February, and had a great time! The classes alone were great, and interacting with the LF crew and seeing their offices was so fun! It was just the weekend away I needed. The owner used to have a store close to my home, and I cropped there pretty regularly. The store is still there, but I don't feel very welcome at it anymore. The new owner is not very friendly (at least to me, and my crop crew!). It has a cliquey vibe, and I'm not for that. I've still occasionally shop and crop (gotta support the LSS!), but it's just not the same as it was. I'm positive that this event had the backing of Simple Stories. They even sent us (attendees) a promo video of how excited they were. I highly doubt that's the legal issue. I wasn't able to join to the in person event in June, but did sign up when it became virtual. I was REALLY looking forward to it, so I'm bummed. Even a virtual crop is better than none right now! Times are so hard right now, and doing a quick change from a huge in person, high touch, special event - in another state, with a big company to a full virtual event had to be a huge amount of work. I get it. But I'm so so soooo bummed. Did you read the post here from SS? “This is Amber the owner of Simple Stories. I usually steer clear of message boards as I know everyone has their own opinion of designs, styles, brands, and collections - but I wanted to jump on this thread to clear up some misconceptions. Just to clarify, this is NOT a Simple Stories event. It’s actually an event hosted by Creative Escape Events that are featuring our products and company. Creative Escape Events is owned and operated by Laurie Jimenez a small independent retailer that has been in the industry for many years. They have done events similar to this featuring other manufacturers like Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn Stamps, and have plans to do their 2021 events with other companies like Echo Park, etc. The event has been planned for almost a year and was originally planned as an in-person event, but had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 virus. Creative Escape customers who registered for the event were disappointed and requested a virtual event instead – this was their solution to accommodate customers who were excited about the event and didn't want to miss the classes, giveaways, goodies, and products of the actual event. Just to be clear all decisions, costs, registration, teachers, and payments are handled through Creative Escape Events, not Simple Stories. As a small family-owned scrapbook company in the industry, we do our best to support our independent retailers and customers. Where we are not the owners of the website or the event, if you have further questions or concerns about the event we encourage you to visit the Creative Escape Events registration page at events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=vnm55x6ab&oeidk=a07egv7hust27d4280c or reach out to Laurie directly to find out what the class materials include and all the goodies that attendees will be receiving. We love our community and industry! Happy Creating

Let me go around farting glitter while I Duck tape positivity message around. 🙄😁😂
N. E. Ways...
Wonder if Laurie sent a faithful follower or went incognito to state that message? That has never gone over well here.
We here at 2Ps like to discuss the good, the eh, and the bad. Life isn't always positive now is it?!

I'm wondering why they are using "Creative Escape", since that was Heidi Swapp and Bazzil's name for their events.

Tracie Claiborne’s Scrap Gals used the Creative Escape name a few years ago for one of their retreats. Popular name I guess.
