The CP line definitely takes me right back to FALALA. It’s a little bit more wintery than I hoped. But a lot of it is really lovely and useable.
For those confused about the toadstools- there’s an old folklore tale that shaman gave out Fly Agaric (the red one with white spots) mushrooms at Soltice, which then over time morphs into Santa and his flying reindeer. I hang toadstools on my garlands.

Also mushrooms for Christmas?! What the heck... Toadstools are a traditional Christmas décor in Europe hailing from Germany and called the G lückspilz (lucky mushroom). Mushrooms are also foraged around Christmastime, not just during autumn. You'll still find loads of red toadstool Christmas ornaments in Europe (even at IKEA) both for the tree and food (like on top of the Yule log). I thought it was a nice touch from CP to combine American Santa with European lucky Christmas toadstools. I still remember the retro glass clip-ons from aeons ago: Traditional bûche de Noël décor: From the IKEA 2018 Vinter collection: From the IKEA Vinter 2016 collection: Oh my gosh, I must get some for our tree this year. Dh is 1/2 German but his mom didn't have any on their trees. But they are so cute

I think the toadstools carry on for the whole gnome aesthetic

I don't mind all the pink in the CP line but I'm definitely not in love with this collection. If no one comes out with something I love I'll just build a kit from my stash.

Hey, Santa is such a mix of Crate Paper's previous Christmas collections. Those houses immediately transported me back to Fa La La. As a matter of fact, a lot of this is very much a modernised version of Fa La La... I wish we'd gotten a nice white background for the entire collection instead of so much cream but cream is CP's go-to... I love that they've reintroduced the clear retro touches that they were known for. It breaks the modern, doodly aesthetic up well. Waiting to see if the village/town paper with all the houses has a diverse cast of mini characters. Fa La La's version of this paper had dark skin tones so hoping they've not whitewashed this one. Still on board with "skinny" Santa. Don't shoot me! ETA: And the sweetest snowman face ever. Aaah, I want to befriend him! Hmm.... i want last year's diagonal b&w Buffalo check in with this year's collection and I think I'd be sold. Those colours work well I think for a summery Christmas

I like the CP line more than I was expecting after seeing the rainbow sneak. I'm sure I'll pick-up some of it. Fa La La was one of my all-time favorites. Thanks sleepingbooty for the Christmas ideas. I'm struggling right now too and wonder what Christmas will look like. That helped. On my list for this holiday weekend is to go through old Christmas stash and decide what I'm keeping, what goes, and what I need for next year. Then I can decide what new things to bring in. I always seem to go way over budget on DD. Too much cute stuff and I seem want all the things. I'm kicking around idea ordering a CT Life Crafted album for this year. I want to try prepping more pages and I like that I could get the album now. The forest green is calling my name. Hoping going through my stash will provide me with some inspiration and some direction.

I didn’t think it would happen, but I’m totally gnome’d out this year!
I do love the Photoplay collection...bright cherry reds, whites and blacks are my favorite.

After the success of last year-a 70 something page travelers notebook made with cocoa daisy Christmas kit- I’ll be doing that all over again! We won’t know for a bit what it’ll look like but it should be up for preorder next month-ish.

Hi, just hijacking this thread for a moment, cause I know you guys will understand, I just finished my Christmas album for...2018! Almost two years late but what the heck, it's done! Now for 2019, wish me luck! Congratulations! There is nothing like that feeling of having completed a Christmas/DD album... Cheering for you to be up to date come this December. Thanks sleepingbooty for the Christmas ideas. I'm struggling right now too and wonder what Christmas will look like. That helped. I'm already working on a stay-at-home Yuletide season project. Might share it when the annual DD thread goes up if people are interested. I plan on having the best of time that I can have despite losing some major keystone moments of my usual December month. We can be happy, have fun and keep ourselves merrily occupied even without the usual distractions and social events. We've got this!

I love those vintage gnomes! Oh no...just when I was out, I’m getting gnome’d back in!
Your picture made me nostalgic, sleepingbooty - I loved those 70s tacky and probably dangerous bubble light ornaments! Off to look for a bubble light stamp...

I was pondering on what Christmas will look like if restrictions haven’t eased over here (Australia has no where near the amount of cases as other places so assuming it stays under control restrictions could be less by December..) being summer we do a lot of outdoor activities and events. My sister and I joked that we’ll be looking at twice as many Christmas lights this year. The only downside being it’s not dark until nearly 9pm which is late for the kids! Anyway. I’m sure we will still have fabulous Christmas’ and perhaps less photos to sift through!

In Portugal we had initially done a good job of keeping the numbers under control, but things have been getting worse and I don't know if we will be back to 'normal' come Christmas time. I don't mind the thought of a small Christmas celebration with just the immediate family. But I have decided that I won't be making a whole Christmas album this year. Just a spread in my Project Life album. Also, I haven't been tempted by any of the Christmas releases I've seeen so far.

Why in the heck does there need to be a rainbow?!?! Enough with the odd rainbows. Good gosh. I'm not liking what I am seeing from CP yet. I will hold final judgement till it is all released tomorrow. Also bring back the fat Santa. I like them round. I like the SS Winter Cottage line more than this CP line (not that I need any of it )

The new CP line is available for pre-order at ACOT. You can see stock pictures but more in details with backs of some embellishments.

Just took a good look at all the items in the Hey, Santa line that are on pre-order and boy, am I disappointed in the lack of diversity. White Santa, I can understand. But the only other human characters in the entire collection are the white angel and white elves. CP have done far better in terms of diversity inclusion, especially in their Christmas lines, for years now. Bah humbug. Also, epoxy alpha Thickers.

I really don’t know why manufacturers make epoxy anything anymore, since it always yellows! Doodlebug is especially bad with this - and their cute snowmen turn into ugly yellowness...

Kind of digging the sticker book from scrapbook.com.
I did manage to go through all my previous Christmas stash and purge some things I just don't love any more. Anything more than 2 years old went unless I really loved it. I still ended up with more than I wanted so I may need to go through it again. I had a ton of CP snowflake left over from last year. It's cute but I didn't use very much of it. It made me realize I prefer more traditional Christmas colors for DD so that's good.
I also discovered how much of my 2019 PL is not done from last year. I'm missing about 4 months, including December. Ugh.

Thanks, I'm happy to report that I'm making good progress on my 2019 album too. In fact, I think this will be my favourite one yet! I created a 3X8 binder and so far I'm loving the more simple approach.

That looks very useful! Especially for people building their own kits from stash, or doing a more minimalist photo/listing/notebook project. And many of the leftovers could be incorporated into everyday stash too, so 10 out of 10, scrapbook.com.
