Oh yes, you read the title of this thread right: we are doing it. A proper Christmas in June (because July is still a month away and a month is too long) crop! Do you want to scrap? Do you need a kick in the derrière to get you crafting again? Do you have a December Daily album that still needs finishing? Do you have a pile of old Christmas photos that still need documenting? Some LOs that you never put the finishing touch to? A scrappy mountain of Christmas papers and embellishments you need to tackle (don't lie, we all do )? Christmas cards you should start making so you're not scrambling to finish them in November this year? JOIN THE MERRY MADNESS! The 2PR Christmas in June crop is all about embracing your hoard stash. We all get swept up with the pretty things that are released each year for Christmas. We all have the best of intentions but also a serious case of eyes bigger than the actual crafting belly. It's time to awaken the beast and use some of our hoard carefully curated specialist collection. In just a few weeks' time, the 2020 Christmas lines will drop on the market and we'll be making new purchases despite our resolutions and against our better judgment. In the spirit of clearing your conscience, come play along and make a dent in your hoard stockpile #wordoftheyear. WHAT? Christmas in June crop, duh. You are welcome to play along crafting and scrapbooking whatever you want. Of course, we encourage using some Christmas goodies but it's *not* mandatory! Team Players will be able to grab bonus points during the crop, as usual, courtesy of our wonderful grammadee . WHEN? June 8-14. A *whole* week, not just a weekend! 7 days gives you plenty of time to focus on an actual project: finishing a DD album, making a LO a day, making your first set of 2020 Christmas cards, etc. WHERE? Right here. In this very thread. Open to everyone! Anyone is welcome to join in at any time. HOW? You, your stash and a little bit of prepping. You have one week to get ready for this! What are you waiting for? Time to attack the hoard pretties you've accumulated and work out a game plan. You can expect: 1. Fun atmosphere (oh yes, we're all mad here!); 2. Loads of encouragement and inspiration; 3. Daily challenges for both scrapbookers and cardmakers; 4. Plenty of cheerleading to get you through whatever goal you've set for yourself. So, come on in and make your presence known! You know you want to... Monday June 8 challenges: DESIGN | Use traditional red and green. THEME | A Christmas/December favourite of yours or your family. WORDS | Use a classic Christmas adjective like 'happy', 'merry', 'jolly', etc.

Looking forward to this. I avoid scrapping Christmas because it’s so overwhelming. Too many photos. Too many paper choices. I’ve got the past 5 Christmases to scrap. This will be the kick in the pants I need to finally do it.

This will be the kick in the pants I need to finally do it. yes - all this - too many photos, too many events, too many choices I did find doing Dec Daily last year and using primarily ONE kit (Echo Park Nov 2019 kit) helped as did the 8x8 page size but that's not going to help me looking back at unscrapped Christmas past. And I don't know that I want to do Dec Daily every year - it feels like a fun, now and then project for me. I *think* I want to use up as much of my current stash as I can in June - making cards, scrapping previous Christmases...and then toss/donate what's left. Then I can pick a collection for Christmas 2020 and hopefully not be overwhelmed by choices going forward. I think the key for me is giving myself permission to let go of papers and embellishments that have overstayed their welcome in my stash.

I don’t think I’m going to tackle doing some kind of DD until Scrappy Xmas in July (if ever) because I want to get further on my virus diaries before I dig into that. BUT I do have a bajillion Christmas cards I could repurpose and make. I just tidied up my Xmas stash the other day because it was taking up too much space in an Iris case - I don’t have much holiday stash left, so I consolidated it into smaller containers.
Good timing to do this right before the Christmas window shopping starts. I’m sure they hook us every year by releasing this stuff when we have forgotten what we have left from last year.

One week to get ready for the crop! If you don't know where to start in terms of crop prep, I'll be posting a day-by-day guide through the week. Today, we kick off by reflecting on the WHAT: 1. What do you want to work on during the crop? Do you have a December Daily album that needs finishing? Are you looking into cardmaking? Do you have Christmas LOs that need finishing? 2. Can you set realistic goals for the week-long crop? What would work best for you: X hours/day or X layouts, spreads or cards/day? 3. What do you need to make these goals happen? Is there anything URGENT you need to gather to make sure you can participate in the crop? It is especially important to tackle this during the pandemic as our shopping/orders are still heavily affected. Order groceries for the extra meal prep you'll do before the week stars so you can have a bit of extra daily time to craft? Place a print order? Get some extra adhesive? Photo paper? Ink? Cardstock? Take a good look at your essentials and determine ASAP what's missing so you can have it in time for next week.

Excellent! I've been making and sending so many cards (in apparently a very non-card making pocket of rural America! LOL) that I'm pretty sure everyone will be expecting homemade Christmas cards as well. All of my stuff is already nicely organized, so now to find some inspiration!

Tuesday and the countdown to the crop continues! Today, we focus on the WHEN. It's time to take a moment and look at our schedule/planner. 1. When will you be available to play along? Are there any events or busy days that will rule out or significantly reduce your crop time? Better to know now and plan ahead. Are there moments of the day when you're less busy and that would work perfectly as crop periods? 2. How can you anticipate your participation so things to go smoothly in your everyday life? This question is to help you plan ahead so the hungry kiddos don't come asking for snacks every half an hour and you don't have to worry about time-consuming things during the crop week. Can you find someone to be in charge of something next week so you can that extra daily time to play along? Can you order or do something ahead to free up some time (meal prep, ordering in food one night, etc.)? 3. What does the schedule loos like to keep you moving forward during the week? It can be a great motivator to set up a crop schedule with daily goals, especially if you plan on working on several projects or have a big one to tackle. If you're doing a December Daily album, how many Decembers days do you still need to scrap to be finished? How many per crop week day to get it done? If you're working on old Christmas photos, are you planning on focusing on a few years or are you more in the mood to schedule 1 year per day of the week to rotate things around? Just start playing with a mock schedule and get a good feel for what you can achieve next week and how to get there day by day.

This sounds great! I have many, many unfinished December Daily Albums. I maaaay think about pulling one out. But right now, looking at time, I may just try to do some Christmas layouts. Not make the big DD committment. Thank you for putting this together sleepingbooty !

Unfortunately it's a very busy week for me with a 2 day court hearing but hopefully I might have the time to do some cards the 13th and 14th. Need to work out what my designs are and get started on those.

Hope you can find a little bit of sneaky time here and there to join us for a few cards.

Our beloved sleepingbooty setting us up for fun, once again! Sadly, I am packing up my (massive) studio and putting it into storage for a while. We are getting out house ready for sale, clearing everything out to do paint and flooring, then moving. I will watch this one from the sidelines.

I haven't scrapped Christmas 2019 yet; a perfect opportunity, I'd say.
My Christmas scrap-crap is probably the biggest single theme in my scrap hoard. It takes up three Iris containers all by itself.

Do what feels best right now. No need to tackle a project you're not in the mood for! This is meant as a week spent together having fun first and foremost. I look forward to seeing what you come up. I am packing up my (massive) studio and putting it into storage for a while. We are getting out house ready for sale, clearing everything out to do paint and flooring, then moving. I will watch this one from the sidelines. Sorry that you're out of business for now but sending you loads of good vibes for the emptying + reno + sale of the house! Stressful but exciting times for you and your family. I hope you'll hop in here and chat with us during the crop. Would love updates from what's going on in the house. I haven't scrapped Christmas 2019 yet; a perfect opportunity, I'd say. My Christmas scrap-crap is probably the biggest single theme in my scrap hoard. It takes up three Iris containers all by itself. Join us, join us! Scrappy Christmas Mountain grows every year. I hope this crop will help you "work off" some of the December goodies you have before the designers and brands put all the new, cute Christmas pretties for 2020 on the market. Creation before temptation!

Is it ok if I just want to conjure up a May PL page from practically nothing. ? Lol get ready for dog pictures cause that was May 2020. My & my fur buddy.
I also have Dec 2019 PL to do so I guess once I do the arduous task of creating May memories from 31 monotonous days at home & one picture from Memorial Day, I’ll tackle Dec PL
Oh, in early March I happened to be in Hobby Lobby because it was the most convenient bathroom and on my way out I happened to come across a clearance Christmas shaker card kit with dies for like $3. I literally bought it for the tiny planner sized candy cane die. I’m sure I’ll eventually use the Christmas tree shakers die set, but I really really wanted that candy cane for my planner. Well after I made a mess last week & consequently sorted thru paper scraps I just made a crap ton of mini candy canes from my red scraps. I should be ready for 10 December planner months. 😬😁

ALL crafts and ALL events/themes/times of the year are welcome. The crop's theme is only meant as extra encouragement to work on something specific. In this case, I wanted to encourage the 2PRefugees to use some of their stash before all the new Christmas collections flood the market but it is in no way an imperative. Bring on the pooch and flowery pages!

Wednesday is inspiration day! Time to do that lovely, lazy work: a cup of coffee, your computer screen and scrolling, scrolling, scrolling... Ahh, the good life. Don't know where to start? LisaDV hosted a Christmas in July event on the board a few years ago and you can find the Pinterest boards she had created for the event right here: Tags, Cards, Crafty Ideas. 1. Got Christmassy stamp sets you want to get more use out of? Time to enter the exact names on Google and Pinterest to find what other people and design team members have done with these. Pin or save the images/URL of what you like as you go down the rabbit hole so you can find it all in one place and easy to access later on. If you use Pinterest, you can create boards dedicated to projects made with a specific stamp set so you can maximise the use for each stamp set + coordinating dies purchase you make. 2. Use YouTube for DIY tutorials and the latest, hottest ways of using/doing something like shaker pockets or DD albums. You can filter the search results by upload date so the most recently added videos will pop up first. This is a wonderful way to see brad new, fresh stuff and feel renewed in your inspiration!

This really sounds like fun sleepingbooty, thank you so much. I hadn't scrapped in about 4 years but since about April 1 I have gotten back into it, have finished about 40 pages and realized just how much I enjoy it. So good news is DH just told me he was golfing both Saturday and Sunday and I have an order of 200 pictures set to arrive tomorrow. I also may have an order from Scrapbooking.com coming although it has been in California since May 19. Bad news none of my pictures or purchases are Christmas related. All that to say I am in for everything but the theme.
