I am not sure about lanterns, but I just bought a set of twinkle lights on a wire that do have a remote to turn them on/off, so I would imagine lanterns would be similar. These lights are solar, but also have regular battery battery back up, if you want them in. Amazon. which lights did you order?

Do you have a picture of the lights you’re using? I have lights along my garden/driveway and it’s pretty boring. Your yard sounds amazing! I don't have a picture but they are just the little lights on a stake that cost a dollar each at Dollar Tree. They have tons of them. I am very low on them this year as I haven't wanted to go into the store but now that it is getting warm I'm going to have to go for replacements. Thanks! I may have to give those a try. I have places around my deck I could stick them into. We actually had a new mailbox post made and the guy who made it put a hole in the back to put one of these lights in. It's pretty neat!

Every Spring I go to the Dollar Tree and buy twenty or thirty dollars worth of the little solar lights to replace the ones that have stopped working. They last at least two years, sometimes longer. I tuck them in all over my jungle of a backyard. At night it looks like fairyland. They are not lanterns but the effect is just beautiful. I haven't read the rest of the rest of the thread, but I wholeheartedly agree with this. It is just beautiful at night in my yard and it is absolutely no work. Also, Costco has some really nice lights now in sets of six and eight at really great prices. I have done real candle outside and I didn't like it. Messy, messy, messy...some do melt it attracts bugs and dirt. I do love the battery operated candles, especially the ones that have a remote.

So dd and i went to the store and picked some gorgeous battery operated lanterns that simulated a flickering candle. They’re beautiful on. Tonight DH and I tried them in diff spots in the yard and they just don’t go. Dh has lit up the front and back gardens with spotlights inVarious locations and the lanterns in the gardens just competed with those lights instead of complimenting them. My deck / patio spaces are against the house and we have floor to ceiling windows so we get enough light from inside or from the lights on the side of the house. And Dh has strung the party lights in our backyard. I think the lanterns were too much. They’re going back. We did get a nice ornamental frog for in the yard though and the kids loved it .
