Just another angry white male who thinks he has the right to assault someone.

What a gigantic, abusive asshole in his stupid little outfit. I hope he’s cowering at home somewhere while Twitter tries to track him down.

What kind of POS goes after kids?! I hope we find out soon. Too many white men are going nuts in this country. Assaulting. Shooting (Ahmaud). Mass shooting. We have a problem. And when your leaders praise "Domination!" and decry "Weakness" we have an enormous problem. "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

On the twitter thread, many point out that he looks a lot like one of the local police officers. But the agency hasn't released any updates that I could see. The thread was LONG though and I may have missed something.

Erm, this man also committed a robbery. Those weren't his flyers and those flyers were in the girl's hands. Assault and robbery. I hope they find and charge him. I don't dare imagine what his reaction might've been if that hadn't been a white family.
What is wrong with some people?

ETA the DA says they have identified a strong suspect - and also asked people to stop throwing out random names - poor Peter Weinberg was misidentified.

That type of behavior (of the bicyclist) is abhorrent and 100% unacceptable. Just because you disagree with someone and are bigger and stronger than them doesn't give anyone the right to assault them.
I hope Mr. Bicycle is quickly identified and jailed. It's a good thing that these teens weren't alone. It's scary to think of what he might have done in that situation.

A different man was already falsely accused. Don't forget what happened in the Atlanta Olympic Bombing and Richard Jewell.

CNN was just calling them kids. I guess we should go with the local news story on that. Also, as CNN was just playing this video I heard the voice of the person doing the video -- it was a man. Now this will probably sound sexist...but honestly, a large man is assaulting the kid/woman and you, a man, just stand there videoing? I mean, it's good that they have the video... but why didn't the guy rush up to help?

The girls were 19, not sure about the boy/man. I wouldn't assume anything right now.

I don’t like the sexism in your post, but the male victim *did* draw the bicyclist’s attention away from the girl and the bicyclist chased/pushed the male victim.

My concern is, how many people were outed as being the guy falsely and nobody is going back and take down those posts. Everyone was ready to believe it was the retired police officer because it fit their shitty narrative. I just posted on the Lindsey Graham thread about this same thing. Stop tarring and feathering people when you don't have all the facts or even proof. Just because you don't like someone's politics doesn't make it okay to ruin their reputation with gossip. This applies to EVERYONE.

That's why I said "this will probably sound sexist"... of course I don't know anything about the guy. But sometimes these bully types react to men better... they're so "tough" that they have to pick on someone who they think is weaker. And by the size the the woman he went after first he seems to be going after the weakest link. So a man intervening might just have done something. -- But in the end it all worked out, and they've caught the guy.

Delurking to say that this incident is local to me, and was all over our neighborhood listserve before it was posted to Twitter. The kids are older teens, 18/19, hence the adult classification by police. Here is the initial posting, which was posted by one of the victims father if I recall from another post by him regarding the details of the assault. Horrible, glad they caught him! NextDoor Post re: assault on teens

The Today show just had a report on this and I only caught the tail end of it, but they said in addition to him being identified and charged, he has also been fired from his job.
I don't know the specifics of how they found him, but I do know if they had reached out to the local cycling community he most likely could have been identified pretty quickly - and that very well may be what happened. Reading the Twitter thread posted above, there were several names thrown into the mix and I don't understand how the connections were made to these people. Although I did see one man's Strava activity posted, but I'm sure many people cycle through that area every day...

So disturbing! And from something I read, it was the one taking the video that he pushed to the ground and pinned down with his bike? I hope the young man is okay! I didn't hear what happened next, if he just left or if the two women pushed the cyclist off of their friend? I'm so happy he was caught.

The other two men were accused because they "fit the profile"...FIT THE PROFILE...Just like many black men/women, young and older who are falsely accused, arrested, brutalized, and killed because they "fit the profile".

I felt like this when the Ahmaud Arbery thread I posted turned to “don’t stereotype all white Southern men”. Racism is a public health issue for this reason. Imagine walking through life not knowing who means you harm and having everyone tell you the threat you’ve readily identified is actually an American hero. It’s a mind fuck that probably accounts for a lot of the bitter black woman I’m accused of being. To see how protected and safe white women are and to know I could be killed as I sleep really sucks.
