Exactly. You’re perpetrating a racial bias. JFC, I’m not shaming anyone, or bullying you. I’m stating exactly what you just admito doing—“repeating” a racial bias. It’s sick. I’m certainly allowed my opinion on this. Ok..I'm just saying, this is a discussion site. SomeONE was bound to bring it up sooner or later. JFC back at ya. I've discussed this on facebook with friends and other groups and they had NO problems talking about the rumors and what's going on. Yes, you are bullying me. You are telling me what I shouldn't post. You aren't the posting police. And I’m saying that you CONTINUING to spread rumors is gross. Not one person had brought this here until you did, and you can be fine with it all you want. so just as you say, it’s a discussion site. Just as you’re allowed to continue to spread unfounded rumors, I can sure as hell state my opinion on it. You can perpetuate the racial stereotype all you want, but don’t get upset or start making up shit about being bullied because you don’t like what someone else has said about it. Once again, I’m not bullying you. Nor have I once told you what you cannot cannot post. It’s absolutely gross that people are saying he or his team might have planted the noose.

I just hope something really stupid doesn't happen....like rumors he did it, or one of his crew, for the attention. Because..just ugh... I saw several comments on a local article claiming he did it.

Like stitch posted above, it's ALL over, internet, etc. I'm sure my commenting on it, on this little thread, and board is just a drop in the bucket.JFC (using your favorite saying) Yea, I do think you are a bully. I can have my opinion too. I've seen you do it to others. I mean, why are you even posting on this thread? your just perpetuating the confederate flag, and your racial bias. Get over yourself. WOW, crazy end to the race, right?!

I’m also curious why fans and others didn’t make a big deal out of the confederate flag being so prominent in nascar for all of these years? What do you mean? It's been mentioned for years. NASCAR asked fans to stop flying it a few years ago, and offered a flag trade in program, but it wasn't enforced. Obviously some people are very passionate about it. Bubba was on CNN a couple of weeks ago and said he wished NASCAR would ban it from tracks in order to make all people feel welcome to the track. NASCAR announced the ban 2 days later and has made a very public stance since. Were the flags being flown at the track (put up by the event/track itself)? Or individual people are just waving them on their own? Either way, everyone involved should have insisted that something was done earlier instead of being wishy washy and sitting by while the racism continued. I guess it doesn't affect many of them personally, so it is easy to ignore and overlook.

Where the fuck do you see me “perpetuating the confederate flag” or this imaginary racial bias you are trying to attach to me? Now You are just making up lies. (I’m sure stitch doesn’t appreciate you misquoting her either—she stated that she saw it in a local article, “NOT all over the Internet” like you claim. lie much?) I post on almost all NSSCAR threads sweetheart, always have. I’m not bullying you. You need to learn what bullying means. This ain’t it. Oh, and it’s “you’re” not “your”.

I live about a half mile from someone who was flying a Confederate flag up until a couple of months ago... along with a Trump flag. Now there's just one big Trump flag; he took the Confederate flag down. But like, dude, we see you. The batsignal may look different, but the message is pretty much the same. Ha. On the county highway going to my subdivision, a yokel had so many huge Trump signs and Confederate flags. Last week he totally redid his display and removed all Confederate crap, but out up some new Trump signage. SOrry, not sorry, young white asshole dude, we know you are a racist. You already flew that flag for years. Truthfully, one reason we bought in a HOA was because they forbid all political signs and flags other than the U.S. Flag. We looked at too many nice houses in nice neighborhoo rd where neighbors had huge Confederate disp!ays. I am not looking at that shi t so close to my house. We are looking to move. Whenever I see a house that I like online, we drive around the neighborhood looking for confederate flags. If we see one we’re out of there.

Is anyone watching the race right now? The beginning with all of the drivers standing behind Bubba was amazing. I never thought I would cry at a sport event. Love my NASCAR family. As you should! I have to be honest—if you (general you) would’ve told me that the sports league (maybe not the best word but I can’t think of another to use) that would be standing up the loudest against racism would be NASCAR, I wouldn’t have believed you. The recent NASCAR statements and responses have really been impressive. The photos I saw from today are amazing.

Told the realtor exactly why we passed it up when she asked what we thought of the property.

I guess it doesn't affect many of them personally, so it is easy to ignore and overlook. No, the tracks were never flying the flag. It’s usually individuals who are camping at the track - in tents or RVs, which is allowed in larger tracks with room in the infield. They will often have a pole with maybe a US flag and the flag of their favorite driver. Some have Trump flags. Some had rebel flags. A lot of people (especially in the south) do not feel that flag represents racism - they say it’s about heritage - so there wasn’t a huge push to tell people what they were allowed to put on their own flag pole. But Bubba spoke up and the drivers and NASCAR supported him and made a change. I work in the sport. The flag really doesn’t mean anything to me even though I live in Georgia. I’m from Iowa. But I’m glad they banned it b/c I think it made us look bad and made people uncomfortable, so it was time for them to take a stand.

Really proud of NASCAR!!!
Not everyone agrees though:
Surprisingly (not) the bios of all these lovely ex-Nascar supporters sound very much alike.

Who do you think the push would have come from? I mean, look at NASCAR demographics. Last time NASCAR tried to discourage the flag, it wasn’t a popular move and it failed.

we didn't watch the race- we recorded part of it on Sunday, but missed the actual race on Monday... were there actually fans allowed at the racetrack? there haven't been, at the last couple races. So where is the 'not even able to selling tickets to fans' thing coming from??

So where is the 'not even able to selling tickets to fans' thing coming from?? I believe they allowed 5,000 fans in attendance. There is a race in Texas in July and apparently they can have 50% capacity, which would be 62,500 fans, but they don’t expect to see that many in attendance.

thanks, myshelly! I hadn't seen anything about the change in attendance policies. We don't follow NASCAR that closely; we just watch the races on Sundays.

It also depends a lot on which state they’re racing in and what that state’s governor has said. So, in TX, our governor has said outdoor sports venues can open and operate at 50% capacity.

The first race that had fans back in attendance had 5,000 fans and NASCAR gave all 5,000 of the tickets to military veterans and first responders to celebrate the first race back. eta: looks like I got the number incorrect

Not consistent yet as MyShelley said. - Homestead up to 1,000 military members (and family) invited by the city of Homestead, who owns the track - Martinsville was next, no fans - Talladega up to 5,000 fans could buy tickets who lived within 150 miles of the track - Pocono - 2 races this weekend with no fans - Indy & Kentucky - first two weekends in July, no fans - All Star Race - moved from Charlotte to Bristol, up to 30,000 fans (which is about 25% of their capacity) - Texas - with fans Nothing else is out officially yet.

Some Orange orders up North have marched with Confederate flags, but it’s pretty much for intimidation reasons. Glad Cork has been speaking up against it. Everything that flag stands for violates the GAA’s tradition of inclusion and sportsmanship.

myshelly and @kas I have read articles that sounded like the flags were being flown in the campgrounds as well as AT the tracks. Also, the heritage IS racism and slavery. So justifying it by saying it is just "heritage" is a cop out. Clearly NASCAR could do something about it, since they did it now. Better late than never but I do think it reflects poorly on those that just let it continue to happen.

Of course they could do something about it, but why would they when their fans didn’t want them to? The last time they tried it backfired and caused the flag to be flown *more*, so they backed off. I mean, high schools here still fly that flag, but we have to hold NASCAR to a higher standard?

Texas high schools fly the confederate flag? Is that common? I’ve never seen it, nor has DH and that covers a lot of Austin, Dallas/Arlington, Lubbock and San Antonio areas so I wouldn’t say common. Though I can see the possibility in certain rural areas. I would be interested to know where that is. She’s in the DFW area IIRC. Richland High School in that area was the Rebels (not sure if they still are), perhaps they did. Also, just because one entity does something wrong doesn’t mean we shouldn’t hold others accountable when they also do the same thing wrong. That’s just bad logic, unless we lived in a perfect society nobody would ever be held accountable if things worked like that. Of course the high schools shouldn’t fly the flag, but NASCAR doesn’t get a pass just because some may choose to do so.

FBI determined that it was a rope on the garage door to the stall assigned to Bubba Wallace team and that it has been on the as early as October. There was no evidence of foul play. The rope is used to open and close the door.
