Does anyone else have a ridiculous number of pages just piled up. I have so many I’m not even sure how to get them into albums. I have 2 iris cases that I haven’t looked through, but in this pile alone I have A) pages that are 100% done, just need to put in chronological order B) pages that are in some phase of getting done, some I have no idea where I was going with it C) premade pages I clearly found no photos that work with them D) pages that I hate and want to redo E) unjournaled/undated photos that will require some research Etc, etc, etc... I don’t know where I should start. And I’m completely-squirrel-oh, let’s start a new page. I think I need someone to come over and kick my butt!

Until about a month ago I had several Iris cases full of pages that needed to be put away. I finally decided that it doesn’t matter if they’re chronological order and just got them put into albums. I feel so much better. My dd (she’s almost 30) said she actually prefers them out of order. I’ve never been a chronological scrapper so this works for me.

Quick sort them by category.
For the ones that almost finished, schedule a time to get them done.
For the blank ones, decide if you will ever use them. If not, decide if you want to keep any elements from them or not. Discard what you don't want (by discard, I mean recycle, donate, or give away).
For the redos, decide if you actually will redo them. If not, put them in the file pile.
For the file pile, sort them by date and get them in albums.

I saw one scrapper on a youtube once who didn't even use albums. Her layouts were all stored vertically, one behind the other like in a file cabinet, but in wooden crates. I imagine she saved a pretty penny on both the albums and the page protectors too.

I actually posted a (long) video today about getting layouts into albums. (Yes, I’m totally plugging myself here). youtu.be/yZ_SfWy0ef4I have a stack that I put away at the end of every month—as long as I have albums to put them in. Sometimes the layouts just stay in page protectors until the albums get ordered. I LIKE looking at albums, so it’s important for me to get them in there. I don’t want to flip through page protectors. I like a book. 😂

I need to put them in albums.

Yes! I definitely have layout piles.
I have a pile 40 layouts deep that I don't have the album for yet.
Then there's the pile of layouts in progress.
Then there's the finished layouts that need to be put in their albums pile.

I find it so satisfying to put my pages in the albums, I do it right away but I think it's easy for me because I work on yearly albums so everything goes in by date. Easy peasy. I love seeing how other people do it though.

Right now I have 2 iris cases full ( completed over the last 2 years...) I only scrap at crop weekends and I tend to complete 15-20 in a crop weekend. So I need to put them in albums and just haven't yet. I really need to just take an afternoon and do this!

Thanks, I'm definitely starting to look at this differently thanks to the replies. @kellem I think I can definitely let go of a detailed chronological album. If I can narrow it down to the season and year, I'm going to say that nobody in my family will question that. mich5481 Yes, this is exactly the plan of attack I need with the exception of requiring a heartless friend to help me "discard". I hate the thought of tossing it out, but if I want to make a dent I definitely need to do this. steakgoddess Thank you so much for sharing your video. I really need to visually see how others do it and I definitely had some ah ha moments. In my head I was already making a list of page protectors and albums to help me jump start the process, but I just looked and I have plenty of both. So I have no reason to put it off. I'm going to start today by putting all my finished pages in page protectors and then move on to the next step. I really learned so much from your video! scrappyem I wish I did it that way. I'm getting better with my current layouts (so so much better). But I tend to work totally out of order on several different albums in the past and this is the result of at least 10 years of just working on what struck me at the time. mayceesgranny in the past most of my layout productions were from crops and this is where most of my "almost" finished layouts come from. Because I would not finish a layout because I was missing something, so into the pile it would go. Okay ladies, I'm going to make a dent this week. Slowly but surely these layouts are going to find a home!

I'm feeling overwhelmed looking at everyone's stacks of layouts....
I do things a bit differently. I also don't scrap in order but I put albums together chronologically.
I have working binders and I pop the photos in there in page protectors in chronological order by planned layout (or event - I might have all the Christmas eve photos in one protector even though I might do 3-5 layouts). If I'm missing photos, I'll put a note in the page protector instead as a page holder. Any memorabilia or a specific emebellishment or journalling notes might end up in there also (not always).
Once I have a month completely scrapped - I scan the layouts and put them in the 'real' album.
So on my shelves of albums - I have a mix of albums and cheap binders - the albums are complete, the binders are in progress -but they are all chronological (even trip albums are slotted in chronologically) so I can always find the layout or photos I'm looking for.
It works for me. But I never have a pile of loose layouts because that would stress me to no end...

I actually moved completed pages not in albums! But I only have pages in a size I don’t have an album for right now. Maybe 20 and as soon as I find a landscape 11x8.5 album those will be in too!
I *just* did this 2 weekends ago though.
Next on my agenda I have a crop in style binder of planned or 1/2 done pages that need to be finished

I usually put them in right away now because the one time I let them pile up the task was such a bummer.
However, I will say this - I put them in thinking "one day I'll reorganize these" since I don't really have a system (do not sort chronologically or LOM or anything). But I know that day will never come! LOL

Start with A, they are done. Get them into Albums for a semi quick sense of accomplishment - put in background movie or scrappy video & sort & put them away. You will be pleased with yourself.
Next go thru C and decide which ones you like and which ones you doubt you’ll use. Consider selling the ones you won’t use people do buy pages that way. The ones you want to keep ( maybe all of them who knows ) sort by either theme or picture size and file them with labeled sheets in between so you can quickly flip thru to find the size or theme you want.
Next tackle D, sort in 2 piles: completely hate, and might be able to fix. Take the pictures off the layouts you ‘hate’ chuck or sell those layouts. Next the ones you might fix, post Somewhere your comfortable and ask advice on what you want to fix. We would help here I’m sure. Maybe you just need a layered cluster or a popping title who knows.
Then go back to B and assemble the ones you know where they were going. Tag me, I’ll do mine too. Lol the others post for advice.
Lastly sprinkle new layouts here & there as you accomplish certain stages of tasks so you keep happy & creative.
E well, I have that pile too. Every so often I flip thru & if something hits me with an idea I do it if not back in the box they go. No worries. No guilt.

I have massive amounts, way over a hundred pages not in albums. Truthfully, I don't like putting the pages in plastic sleeves (you lose the texture and dimension) so I just keep them in Iris cases and look at them in there. I do have 8 empty albums, though, so I should fill them.

Noooo, I could not do that. Pages are placed into albums immediately. I don't really have room to keep stacks of pages waiting to be placed into albums. The visual clutter that would create would drive me bonkers!

Every so often I flip thru & if something hits me with an idea I do it if not back in the box they go. No worries. No guilt. I'm definitely motivated and like I said I need a kick in the butt. Realistically I can't lock myself away for 2 weeks, but I'm thinking I can create a plan to be in a much better place by the end of summer. And I started moving in that direction yesterday. So I did start to tackle A with pages for my youngest DS's book that were finished. I put them all in sleeves and then I remembered why they aren't in a book-I don't have an album for these pages. I have been using WRMK charcoal 12x12 album. I have 4 which will take me through high school and cannot find that color and I need 1 more. I put my name on a couple websites to alert me when/if stock becomes available. So I just put the pages next to the other albums, so they are technically not in an album, but at least now I know what I need to do with them. Then I put another pile of soccer layouts in a sports album, this is going to be an ongoing album, but check, those layouts are in an album. Today I'm going through the rest of the completed pages and sorting them as to which album they belong. If they don't fit into an album, I'm going to put them aside. And then I've decided that I'm going to make a misc album, kind of like the misfit pages that don't fit anywhere. They won't be chronological, I'm not going to stress over it. It will be an overflow album which will be a far better solution than just piling them up. As for D, I don't think you understand what a needy scrapper I am. LOL. You are probably going to be sorry you ever offered. Haha. But maybe I'll start with a few and see how it goes. I totally appreciate the offer. I am the queen of unfinished albums. Many are **this close** to being done and since quarantine, I've been focusing on one album at a time and filling in those gaps. So in my head I am making progress, but I definitely need a plan and a carrot (working on pages that I'm inspired to at the moment that don't necessarily fill in the gap).

Hey, as long as your not freaking out about it. You have a plan.
As I said before I ‘just’ did this & also found out I needed an album that is hard to find ( 11x8.5 landscape ) but I think I’m going to put my DD’s layout in my landscape heritage album and switch my heritage layoutS to a new 3 ring. With much searching my choices are spend less than $20 on a sturdy filing/portfolio type landscape album Or more than $50 on a so dial ordered one. ( or go to hobby lobby which I won’t do ) Alas I missed my chance when they had them at AC moore. That’s why I think I’ll switch my DD’s to the heritage album since it will all fit and get the less expensive portfolio style binder for my heritage stuff as I can see me doing more if that from time to time and those I can get page protectors for.
Just wanted you to know your not alone !
( perhaps the new scrapbook .com albums will have a charcoal one to match?)

I’m in the process of cleaning and organizing my scrapbook room. I bought a new Kallax for the hall because I came to the realization I had some loose albums with nowhere to go because the other Kallax is filled. Little did I know I had 16 albums laying around my scrapbook room. Nine of them are empty and I thought I only had four. Five of them were in unopened boxes. Add in the two bins full of layouts to sort, the stack of layouts I knew about, plus two stacks that turned up as I was cleaning...let’s just say that I feel for you big time. i will say the layouts in the two white bins have been sorted chronologically. The stack in the open door cubby is what I found loose around my room. That is a project for when I’m done cleaning! I have a friend coming over to help me purge today. I told her I needed someone to tell me to get rid of stuff! Good luck with getting your layouts into their albums. (no idea why it’s coming through sideways.)
