I did scrap photos of my son's car accident. He was hit going 50mph down a highway. A woman hit him trying to turn off the highway. I drove right past the accident on the way to work. I thought the car was green and it was dark. The ambulance was right behind me and I was trying to get out of the way. Ugh. We had photos of the car for insurance and of him. I decided to put them in the book. It is one of the few bad things I have scrapped. There were times after that accident where he was a bit of a butt head and I looked at those pictures to help remind me that even though he was a butt head, he was a well loved butt head. He doesn't remember any of the month leading up to the accident or a few weeks after. Was glad I had the photos.

I have an entire album of a four day trip to Universal. Harry Potter World was a 7 year wait for us and I took pictures of everything. It was just my 19 year old kid and me. So fun.

I often approach this by thinking what photos *I* wish my mom had taken when I was a kid. Exactly! I save supermarket/shopping receipts and tuck them behind photos, ticket stubs and try to take photos of everyday things as well as the special events. My last week's PL has a photo of my dh making breakfast on an ordinary day...nothing special. My problem is remembering to take photos of these normal days! I try not to put any photo or story in my PL that would embarrass the person involved. I'm fair game...but I don't wish to ridicule or humiliate others.

It's so interesting seeing people comment that they are so opposed to scrapbooking politics. It feels like a privilege really. Politics heavily affect my life since I'm of several minority groups and have lived to see rights that a lot of people have, not been given to me. So when things like, same-sex marriage passed, it greatly affected my life. I'm going to scrap such a big, life-altering event. I’m not opposed to it, I just choose not to scrap politics or covid. With respect to everyone that chooses to document them, my personal choice is to scrapbook happy memories. Part of the joy for me is reflecting on past trips or times when my boys were younger etc. Scrapbooking for me is a creative outlet and a hobby that I enjoy. Just because I choose not to scrap politics, it does not mean that I don’t recognize the significance of them. I do try to stay informed, to watch the news, to read books, vote and pay attention to what is happening around the world. And I fully recognize that having the time and money to spend on scrapbooking and a family that supports my hobby is a privilege. Eta- I’m not sure I explained this very well. My apologies if I offended anyone with my choice of what to scrapbook.
