Hi, all- I'm showing my age, here, and hopefully some of you can help me, because I think I'm looking for something that's just not around much any more. ?? Remember, back in the day, we could buy every color under the sun of Zig dual-tip markers? One side was a fine point for writing / journaling, and the other tip was a bullet-tip for doodling. (remember, back in the day before we had letter stickers-- they sold stencils with different font type-faces, and we would trace and color in the letters?? See, I told you I'm showing my age!)
Anyway, I still have a few of those and they still (sort of) work but I'd like to find a decent-sized set (36, 48, something like that) of dual-tip markers (fine point and bullet point) for doodling, accenting embellishments, using with stencils, and for journaling on my scrapbook pages. I do NOT want alcohol-based markers, and I do NOT want a brush tip-- these two things seem to be the majority of what's out there right now.
I don't even know what brands are "good" any more- I don't want to buy ultra-cheap markers that will blob, break, or fade, but I also don't want to spend $200+ on a set of markers. help!!! thanks!!

I would look at art supply or planner sources rather than scrapping. I think a lot of Japanese brands are probably still making that kind of marker, at the very least. Not sure what's available to buy in the US though. Not sure if they're sold in sets so much either...
I know you can still get small markers with fine tips like the Papermate flair in multi color sets - they would work for stenciling titles and doodles, and maybe for journaling. The planner folks also love the Mildliners - they're a little more transparent, more like non-neon highlighters. I use those in planners, and they have a dual tip - small bullet marker and a chisel highlighter end, but nothing fine for handwriting journaling.

This is the same as the first set of dual tip Zig markers I bought myself when I started scrapbooking in 2009. I hope this is what you're looking for. Zig Writer Dual Tip Marker

Arteza has some relatively inexpensive fineline markers - they aren’t dual-tipped, though.

Google Staedtler dual tip markers -it's a decent brand and you can get up to a set of 72. Fine point and bullet nib, no brush.

I was going to suggest the Many Marvelous Markers set from Stampin’ Up! but one end is a brush tip. Hmmm... I’ll keep thinking.

thanks, guys! You've given me some good options. I'm just not that good with searching Amazon; maybe there is a way to exclude certain terms (like excluding 'brush' when searching markers, lol) when you're searching, but if there is, I don't know it. I appreciate the help.

I appreciate the help. If you put a minus sign before the unwanted term (no space in between) it should take out most of the unwanted results - although I’ve had issues with Amazon before...their search logic isn’t the best. Putting the minus sign directly before an unwanted term is a standard Boolean search operator - works with Google, etc. So you’d search “markers -brush” as a start. Maybe “fine markers -brush” and the like would get you slightly better results. Good luck!

I just tracked down some replacement for a few of my Zig Writer markers that finally dried out (after 25 years!) Most are still going strong.
I found some on Markersupply.com, and an Evergreen on another site that I can’t find the name of. Blick carries sets too. I didn’t want to start over with new colors, since I’m so familiar with all of these.
To me, Zigs are still just perfect! Even though I’ve found a few new loves like Muji, and LAMI. I could spend a fortune at Jet Pens.

THANK YOU!!! I was trying to remember the name of this website yesterday, but for the life of me, it would not come into my head. And I'm glad someone else agrees with my love for my old reliable Zig pens, lol. Some of mine have the price tag on from the scrapbook store I bought them at- they have a sort of nostalgia thing to them, too, because of that- the SB store is, like, the second one I ever shopped at 25+ years ago, and I'm sure it's long since disappeared. Part of the reason I like the Zig pens is I like the 'bullet' shaped nib, which is nice for thicker writing or for making dots. Some of the other nib shapes look difficult to use for dots, etc. (and having the fine point for the very same color... I guess I'm just resistant to change, lol.)

I know, when my Evergreen dried out, I had to find a replacement! Lots of my old scrapbooks have that tinker toy letter style with dots on the ends. I was all about then Lindsey Ostrom lettering back then. Her store, Paper Rabbit, was my first LSS. And sorry for the mention of Jet Pens.

And sorry for the mention of Jet Pens. haha!! I haven't gone onto their website (yet); maybe I'll forget the name of it again, lol. I never did that kind of lettering ('tinker toy' is a perfect description!!) but I do like making 'dots' for doodling purposes. CM is selling small sets (like, 2-3 markers) with that 'dot' bullet tip, and I've seen some really fun stuff from the Japanese CM scrappers. But I don't want to buy just 2-3 markers at a time. And how cool is it that your first LSS was her store!! My first SB store had the huge display on the wall with all the different colors- I remember having a list, or taking all of MY markers to the store with me, so I wouldn't buy the same color twice. And yeah- some of those colors are still my favorites.

I just came across the Kuretake Zig Clean Dot Pens on preorder at ACOT and thought of this thread! They are fine tip on one side and a dot tip on the other. Depending on how hard you press, you can make large or small dots. They are much cheaper on other sites than they are on ACOT, but the largest pack I found was 12.
