Hi all! My new YT traveler's journal tutorial is up! I showed supplies I use, and inside look and a tutorial. Link HereI have been journaling in one form or another for most of my adult life and here are some tips I have learned in art and planner style journaling. 1. No Pressure Someone asked me what to put or write in a journal. I could tell they felt pressure to make something great. No, just follow your heart and keep it simple. 2. Welcome Mistakes When I created this video, I made a mistake in my writing on the right page. At first, I was gonna correct it for the video. Then, I reminded myself that I am ok with mistakes. This is my private space and it doesn't have to be perfect. 3. Experiment & Play This type of journal is a fun place to play with new techniques and trends. The good thing is if you don't like it, turn the page and start again, right? LOL! What are some tips that help you in journaling???

Thank you so much for sharing your journal. I've been too nervous to get started on one, even though I've been thinking about it for a couple years now. I need to take your advice to heart. I'm just so intimidated by the first page in a blank book.
Maybe I need to put my bound book away and just work on individual pages that I can assemble into a book later. I'm not intimidated by scrapbooking because if my page is garbage, it's just a sheet of paper. But if I screw up my precious book, (shudder) ... I don't even want to think about it!

Thanks for sharing kellyr21! looking forward to taking a look I'm just so intimidated by the first page in a blank book. I almost always turn to the second page to start! TNs are not too big so if you don't love what you did you can flip the page, like Kelly said, or if you mess up really badly you can paste something over the top. The whole of the notebook is way greater the sum of its parts. But starting on a separate sheet is also a good way to get started.

msliz- I hope you try when you are ready. joblackford gave good advice by starting on a separate piece of paper. I used to do that with my art journal. I just used one piece of paper and played. Remember it is play and private. No one sees it unless you want to share. Also, for me it is cool to see my progress in a book. The early pages are one way and they get more polished as I go. So I know you will find your way. Thanks for inspiring me to share! joblackford- Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the video, Kelly! I really liked watching it. I especially like the hint to use washi tape down the middle. It separates the pages while also reinforcing them.
In March I started a journal (travelers notebook) about current events and I just finished it last month. I’m taking a break now, but would like to start another one, perhaps using a little larger notebook. I’ll check out the travelers notebook challenge!

Thank you for sharing.
Which ink stayed on the Washi tape? Stamping usually wipes off on my Washi.

I am glad I sound calm cause I am a little nervous doing this new thing. LOL! Thanks for the video, Kelly! I really liked watching it. I especially like the hint to use washi tape down the middle. It is a joy for me to share my experience. If you join the challenge, that would be fun! Thank you for sharing. Which ink stayed on the Washi tape? Stamping usually wipes off on my Washi. Great question! I used my black StazOn ink and just gave it the finger swipe test, and it passed! No smudging or smearing. Thanks for asking!

Thank you for your video, I don't know why, but the size intimidates me! I do scrap mostly a rectangle page, but it's 8.5x11. Have you done any with photos? If so, what size do you print them at?

refugeepea- I can see how trying a different size can be a challenge. Just have to scale your norm design ideas to a smaller size. Yes, I have used pictures in my TN. On the early part of my video I shared a few I have done. Also, on the TN challenge thread, I showed a photo strip I used. Link HereI think you could use most size pictures like 4x6, 3x5, wallet sizes or even larger sized. Just whatever you feel. Here is a page I did with a picture. The size of the pic is about 2 3/4 x 3 1/2. Hope this helps! TN Journal by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr
