Hey all! I am enjoying my journals so much and thought I would start a challenge here. You can share your pages here or just describe what you did! I don't want you to have pressure to share or impress anyone. It is your private space. You can just share an unwritten page, too so we can see you designs. Let's chat here to if you like! If you are new to these notebooks, join in the fun! If you don't know where to start... -maybe start with your favorite colors and theme. If you like yellow find some yellow supplies and play with them.
-maybe there is a word that sounds good that day. Write it down and build around it.
-maybe you went on a mini trip during quarantine you could document.
-maybe just start on a piece of paper before you start a new book. (from joblackford)
Here are a few pages from my journal.

I have never purchased a TN, but we were given one at a crop last summer. I think that one was home made; basically 12 x12 papers folded in half? Is that the size? Yours look like they are taped, kellyr21, but the one we received was stapled. I think it would be cool to scrap an event in one. The other ladies at the crop actually scrapped the weekend while it was happening! I know ComplicatedLady scraps in TN's. Anyone else?

Thanks for all of you who liked this thread and thinking about it! grammadee- I got my TN from Heidi Swapp collection from Joann and they are stapled. I added the tape. I love washi tape now! LOL! I thought about trying to make one with pp to see how I would like that. Yeah, it is a quick way to scrap a moment or event. That is cool the ladies at your event did that while they were there. :} I love using my new and some of my unused supplies in these little booklets.

Here are some new supplies I just got last week from Joann's sale. (See the picture info for product info.) I also ordered from Studio Calico for the first time and and looking forward to seeing their items. I am all set to journal up a storm. I want to use that paper pad on some layouts and mini journals, too. Joann's Haul by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Washi Tape by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr

DH and I decided to go to Ireland for our 20 year wedding anniversary this year. He got his passport renewed (mine was still valid from a trip to France with my sister a few years back), I booked flights and hotels and car rentals and etc, I made a binder of how to take care of things while we were gone so my dad could get our 10 and 12 year old kiddos to school and their various extracurricular activities, I also bought my very first Erin Condren Travel Journal and was super excited to use it. I bought a bunch of Irish-type supplies and filled out the first two pages of the TN with all our booking info and packing needs, etc. Our wedding anniversary is March 11... So, covid canceled everything. I mourned the great deals I scoured the internet for, the info binder I spend countless hours on sits under a pile in my InBox on my desk, the passports are back in their fireproof safe, and my pretty TN is in an iris box on the shelf. I want to tell the story of covid on page 3 and 4, and even tho it doesn't feel like it now, I want it to be a story about overcoming and moving forward and somehow tie in how a 20-year marriage moves over these bumps and sees them as molehills instead of mountains, and that eventually we will figure out how to travel again once covid gets easier to deal with... I'm just not there mentally yet, but when I do get there in my head, all my supplies are patiently waiting. (I've only done one scrapbook LO since covid, it's been a rough time for everyone).

ABCreations - Oh, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I can imagine your BIG disappointment after all the planning and anticipating for your awesome trip. I am disappointed for you, too. This covid has really disrupted our lives and I am like you trying to not let it steal my hope and plans for a bright future. I love that you are gonna tell this frustrating story in your journal and compare it to your marriage. In the future when you read it, I think you will smile. Hopefully, you will be able to go on that trip when things improve. I think the pages you have done so far are awesome. I look forward to hearing about your trip down the road and I know it will be extra special. So keep those Irish supplies near by.

ComplicatedLady , how do you get your patterned paper to go all the way to the edges of your TN? Do you make your own TN with your own papers? I love that AZ Curfew layout. It's one of the challenges I have, trying to cover the whole page with PP and have it look nice. I usually cut it a little smaller than the actual paper. It does make the TN a lot bulkier if I add too much patterned paper/cardstock to it.

Awesome creativity here. I have added this challenge to the July Team challenge list, so Team members can claim points for their TN pages, and stickied it in the July section of the Challenge Master List so this thread is easier to find.

grammadee - Thanks for adding this to the master list! MDscrapaholic- That is a good question! I too am having trouble to get my pp to curve like the booklet. I just used scissor to trim it and it wasn't an exact match. If anyone has solved this dilemma let us know. Also, thanks for letting us know about the sale at WP! I will check it out.

It's one of the challenges I have, trying to cover the whole page with PP and have it look nice. I usually cut it a little smaller than the actual paper. It does make the TN a lot bulkier if I add too much patterned paper/cardstock to it. This is from a Cocoa Daisy Travel Notebook that has printed pages in it. When I discovered these, my interest in TN scrapping increased immensely. So, for that page I shared, one side was the printed pattern background and the other side was plain. In these albums, each page has a different pattern and it switches sides. A few pages have no patterns and are either blank lines or grids. I wish I had an amazing secret about how to line up pattern paper to the edge of a TN!

I was thinking about taking one of my TNs apart, tracing a page (or two or three) and cutting it out, then putting it all back together with the pp pages mixed in. Since they’re only held together by a few staples it should be easy. That way I’d have some patterned papers mixed in without having to cut and glue to an existing page. This would mean that the TN would not be too thick.
Looks like I just talked myself into this! I’ll let you know how it works out!

Okay, I just had a fun hour searching through my stash for the perfect papers to make my own TN! Since it's summer and July, I thought I'd use some leftover pieces of collections I have. I wanted them to be white, not cream, to match the lined TN paper. I used EP 'Walking on Sunshine' and EP 'Best Summer Ever' for the inside papers, and nice, thick Authentique 'Ahoy There' for the cover. First step was to take apart the Carpe Diem TN that I had. It had a cover and 12 inside pages. All I had to do was remove the staples. I used the cover to trace the outline onto the 3 patterned papers I had. Cut them out with scissors and my paper cutter. Had to trim the corners as this TN had rounded corners. Folded in half. Decided to make this TN for the month of July (31 days, one page for each day), so used 6 lined papers and 2 patterned. Once I had the patterned paper cut out, I just put the cover down first, then 2 lined TN papers, 1 patterned, 2 lined, 1 patterned and the final 2 lined. Clipped them together with a clip so they wouldn't move. Turned it over and stapled through all the papers on the fold line. I thought it turned out pretty good! Now to start filling it up! I'm already behind a few days, LOL.

Hey everyone, I am still using my TNs and enjoying them. They have continued to me a fun and therapeutic way to to express my thoughts and feelings during these crazy times. This first one is one of my favorites from some weeks ago. There is so much to be stressed about and this is just a gentle reminder to focus on the joy of my life. Traveler's Notebook 1 by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr I just started a new journal the other day. I love this Studio Calico TN. THere are lots of patterned pages included along with white journal pages. If you thought about starting and need a little encouragement, I hope my pages inspire you!
