Ok, so now I want one!!! DH was all about getting one when we bought this house 6 months ago and I wasn't convinced we'd use it. Little did I know we'd be stuck at home for months!!!! Thinking I'll go investigate inflatable ones....

February 8, 2021 update: Our hot tub, ordered just over 7 months ago, arrived today! It took a lot of pestering and following up with the dealer, but it's finally sitting in our backyard and the electircian comes Wednesday. We hope to fill it after that, and have it fired up this weekend.

We bought ours at the NY State Fair a few years ago. We live 15 minutes from the fair, but the dealer is 60+ minutes away. If I had it to do over, I would buy from a local dealer. My sister bought hers from the state fair too. She had all kinds of problems trying to get things serviced. They had major problems getting it installed properly too. I agree with your suggestion of buying local from a company that has been around for a while. My spa was built in with our pool, so I don't know how the issues would be different. Just one thing to NEVER do. During a New Years Eve gathering, someone snuck in the house and got a handful of liquid dish detergent and jumped back into the spa. We suddenly had tiny bubbles that rose at least 4 feet over the top of the spa water. We had to make breathing holes upward in the bubbles and then you couldn't see anyone else in the spa. And getting in and out to use the restroom was dangerous because you had no idea where the edge of the pool/spa were. Someone had to stand up to let them know they were getting close and then they had to crawl through the bubbles to make it safely back into the water. I was furious. And the bubbles remained for days. We finally had to get our pool guy to come out and squirt something in the spa to counteract the soap bubbles. And when we woke up the following day, we all had red, painful, and swollen eyes with super blurry vision from the soap fumes. Our eyes stayed like that for 4 or 5 days, even when putting Visine in them. That just stung like heck and didn't really help. I don't know who the culprit was, but I hope they felt sufficiently chastised when they saw the problems we all went through. One couple was talking lawsuit if their vision didn't return to normal and I didn't blame them. Bottom line, don't invite idiots!

I have always wanted a hot tub, but my dh refuses. He says it's too much work, and they are a PITA to keep up. So I would say get someone to service them, do upkeep. otherwise its going to be another job. That's the problem here. I think I'd feel so much better.

I'm also shopping for accessories we might need - towel stand, robes to get back into the house in winter, maybe some planters/decor. If any of you have tips/links/suggetions, I'd appreciate them!

We have recently started talking about getting one. We are in Wisconsin, and it would be outside on our deck. Would probably build a pergola or something over the top for a little bit of protection from the snow, but I know we would use it year-round. DH would probably use it every single day. But, if we get one, it means we would need to extend our deck, so it’s not only the cost of the spa, but the deck as well. Even still, I suspect in the next year or two we will get one.

Totally not the same, lol, but we put a two person soaker tub in our master bath and we use it together every evening. Hope you enjoy your hot tub as much as we enjoy our bath tub.

I have always wanted a hot tub, but my dh refuses. He says it's too much work, and they are a PITA to keep up. So I would say get someone to service them, do upkeep. otherwise its going to be another job. He's lying to you haha! You literally just chuck in some chlorine or other chemicals after every use, and a water balancer once in a while, and that's pretty much it. It's not like a pool that does require a bit more work. Okay, it is a bit more than that, and we have several different types of chemicals, but honestly, it's not a lot of work. We've had our spa (hot tub) for close on 20 years now, and it gets used at least three times a week. We had to replace the heating unit last year, and we need another cover now, which will be the second time we've replaced it over the 20 years. It is not too much work. It will, however, increase your (water- edit, mine)bill! I would agree with this! It's really not much work at all. When the foam gets out of hand, throw a dryer sheet in there and the foam will disappear. This isn't a good idea. There are so many chemicals in a dryer sheet that could cause problems for the tub. Your tub shouldn't have foam like that. Try to find out what's causing it.I still haven’t figured out how to keep a hot towel or robe nearby. That would be ideal! How about a towel warmer? Like this one I got one for DH for Christmas and he said it's the best thing ever!

These are great tips! We are thinking about getting one for our lake house. I think it would be so cool and relaxing to sit in it and look out at the lake, especially during the winter.

We’ve wanted a hot tub for years but for a variety of reasons haven’t had one. My mom gave us an Intex inflatable for Christmas this year ( we got it early ). We love it so much. I honestly didn’t know such a thing existed. We use it all the time. It’s way nicer than I expected it to be. It’s been easy to keep up. I highly recommend it if you’re unsure or can’t take the plunge on a “real” one at present.

We had one but the rats got under it chewed the wires and so that was the end of that. I know improvements have been made to keep the rats out but been there done that.

Do you keep it inflated and full of hot water all the time? Or just blow it up when you want to use it?

The delivery guy said the wait is 12-14months now so if you're serious about getting one in the next year or so. To say they are in-demand with the various stay-at-home orders is an understatement.

YES! that's my plan. We were in the mountains this summer and got to relax in one with a gorgeous view of the mountains. It was the best and cemented the fact that we'd enjoy one at our house.

So excited for you! But SEVEN months?!?!?! Holy moly, girl! I'd be crazed!!! i was for sure! When we put the deposit down they said 16-20 weeks, which sounded like a LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time. Then it got to be longer and longer. Toward the end i was calling our dealer every day for an update. I told him we'd be best friends by the end of this!!

I don't need one, but with all this talk, now I want one. Whenever we're somewhere that has a nice one, DH and I use it. Doubt I could talk him into one though.
Peas are masterful enablers!

Congratulations, that's very exciting! Although I can't believe it's taken that long. And quite co-incidentally, I am currently on my lunch break (working from home), watching my dog splash around in our spa, as it is too hot to go for a walk. He absolutely loves it!
