I'm looking for software that I can use to organise, label, caption, source photographs. I don't want a subscription deal - I want to pay for it and be done.
suggestions?

I use Google photos. Totally free. No need to tag. The search function is amazing.

I am using ACDSee. I bought the version that you own forever not a subscription. All my photos are on my computer not The Cloud.
I'm still learning how to use it, but you can tag photos pretty easily and sort into categories and keywords and all kinds of stuff I haven't gotten around to learning yet...

If you want more power (Which also comes with a harder learning curve) check out Lightroom or Photoshop Elements. PSE might be too much extra stuff for what you want, but you can buy just the program, no subscription.

Thank you all. I checked out the various suggestions and ended up buying Acdsee Ultimate - it was on sale (yay) and seemed to be the one that did everything I wanted it to in a way I was comfortable with. I didn't care for my trial of Photoshop Elements

Lightroom or bridge is helpful, but you have to pay. Bridge is free. It's Adobe, so it's a little slow to load and actions aren't always intuitive, but it's gets the job done for the price. |

I don't think I quite believed it until I switched my creative cloud subscription to a different computer and Bridge still worked without it on the old computer. For it's faults, it's still a lot of functionality for free, so I had to look it up just before posting to confirm! |
