I wondered if anyone might be bored with the internet and would like something new to look for? My husband and I are building a new home and it's going to have a gorgeous scrap room with one wall of windows that look straight at the Blue Ridge Mountains. I've just retired from 40 years of teaching and this is our "we've been working and planning towards this for years and we're finally building the perfect home in the perfect location".
I'm hunting for the perfect ceiling fixture for my room. If you like hunting for things like that, I'd love some suggestions. I'm looking for something boho or glitzy, but not too crazy. The walls will be a light/medium lavender called wisteria and my furniture is Ikea white with a large black trestle table and some black drawers. I'm thinking in the price range of $150 - $300, but could go higher for perfection. This won't be my work light, just a general light for the room that will be the light that comes on when you hit the light switch.
Many thanks to anyone who cares to play along.

No suggestions for the actual light fixture but I put daylight LED bulbs in mine and that was a game changer, so much brighter

No suggestions for the actual light fixture but I put daylight LED bulbs in mine and that was a game changer, so much brighter I also found that LED lights display a truer color. More like using an OTT light.

How exciting for you! You deserve that after 40 years of teaching! (I love teachers!!) I don't have a suggestion, but I always start with Lumens.com when needing a new light fixture. If you haven't already, it's worth a peek.

Thanks for the light bulb suggestion and the Lumens recommendation. I didn't know about that site. I'm off to look!

lindamh we just finished building our own home and I have a scrapbook room that I designed too. I also have one wall with large windows with natural light. For the ceiling I ended up going with 4 LED recessed lights and I love them so much, I am so happy with it. I get a really nice bright light for working in the room, even at night, and I chose the "whiter" rather than "yellower" LED bulbs which provide for more of a daylight type feel. I also have 10 ft ceilings which I think makes a huge difference in making the room feel bright and spacious. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe the lights were $115 each ($90 for the recessed light and $25 for the LED). The LED allegedly pays for itself though... you don't have to change the bulb for a long time and it saves on energy costs. I'm not sure how your builder works, but the electrician did the recessed lighting for us because it requires different wiring/layout that needs to be done before sheetrock so they needed to do it earlier in the process than a regular light fixture. Oh, also my name is Linda too
