I am back to IF 16:8. Things are going well. I did 6 days last week on plan, taking one day off but still watching what I ate. Im losing weight.
My question is this - how many days a week do you fast? Everyday? Its easy for me to fast during the week but the weekend I would like some flexibility. So what did you do when you IF?

When I was doing it, my goal was 6 days a week. I tried to just eat supper, so it was 20/4 or so. I'm not a fast loser...
I could usually fast til noon, so including sleep, I was fasting at least 14 hours a day.
I might start that again... It was nice to be able to have more freedom when I wasn't fasting.

I do it pretty much every day. In addition, I’ve begun trying to get at least 30 minutes of exercise 4-5 times a week. I’m down almost 30 pounds since the first of the year.

Every day when I was fasting. I really need to begin again, as IF is so good for healing your body, not just weight loss. If you have Facebook, follow Delay,Don't Deny and Gin Stephens.

I fast 16/8 5 days a week. Then I do a 24 hour water fast and 1 day I feast. I repeat that formula. I've lost quite a bit of weight and feel terrific.

If you want to deplete your glycogen stores and stay in fat burning mode, you should do it every day.
Gin Stephens has a new book out. Fast Feast Repeat. Chock full of info explaining all the science-y stuff. 👍

I'm doing 18:6 most days, sometimes I have a 16:8 because I'm starving, and "meal-less" mondays, so approximately a 36 hour fast.

Every day. I mostly do OMAD (one meal a day) fasting for at least 20 hours, but when I’m hungry I will eat lunch. It usually happens every other week of so. I’ve been doing IF since 2017 and I was never a breakfast eater anyway, so I’ve always found it to be easy. I literally cannot imagine eating 3 meals in one day.

IF has become lifestyle for me. I think I've eaten before noon only once or twice in the last couple years. I don't follow a rigid pattern but most days I eat twice (1ish and after 6) and a couple times a week just once (could be a late lunch or regular dinner).

I’ve been doing 16:8 or 18:6 since the shelter in place started. I initially lost weight but then have been stuck (u til I lost a few lbs last week but am back up again). I need to get back to 5:2 and hopefully that will work. I’ve read Delay, Don’t Deny and omad doesn’t really appeal to me, and some of the concepts don’t make sense for an every day basis.

When I’m focussed this is pretty much how I eat but I do get varying spells when I find it difficult.

OK, all of your replys give me something to think about.
I can do 16:8 easy peasy. But usually one or two days a week I don't get hungry until closer to dinner time. l wasn't sure if yo-yo-ing back and forth is the best plan or if more constancy would be better. The main reason I have taken one day off is because DH likes me to go eat breakfast on Sunday am (like a date, lol) and I didn't want to dissappoint him but I also didnt want to sit there and watch him eat.

I literally cannot imagine eating 3 meals in one day. I think one of the reasons IF really works and made sense for me is I just don't need a lot of calories to get through the day and eating twice is more than enough. I'm not hungry or feeling deprived with this routine.

Varying your fasting window is very beneficial. It keeps your metabolism guessing. Beyond Fasting by Dr. Pompa is excellent

I've been doing a 18:6 slightly differently. I hate missing breakfast for some reason, but dinner I couldn't care less about. So, I eat breakfast (7:00ish) and lunch (12:00ish) and then I'm done for the day. Not sure why but it's easier for me. I put on a few pounds with the Covid-15 and was actually thinking this morning that I'm going to go back to this again tomorrow. Thanks for the motivation!

Oh yay. Thanks for starting this thread! I was looking for an IF thread last night and couldn’t find one. I just read the book, Fast, Feast, Repeat. I’m new to IF. I thought I was “sort of” doing it last year when I lost 45 pounds but since I was having creamer in my coffee turns out I wasn’t.
The book offers a variety of ideas to structure your IF. I did 17.5/7.5 last week (my first week) just to get a feel for it. I think I am going to do five days like that but then two days where my eating window is much bigger or basically not even worry about IF to both throw my body off to mix it and for flexibility of changing plans, etc. I think the two days I will mix it up will be Friday and Sunday. I want an IF in between my free days.

I need to add in exercise, too. I was doing some of the Leslie Sansone videos the week before last and then quit. Starting that again tomorrow, too.

I started 16:8 last Monday, and mixed in riding the stationary bike for 10 minutes each day (I'm very new to exercise), and I had no chocolate (I'm a huge chocoholic), and I lost not quite 2 pounds. I really thought it would be more. So I'm a bit discouraged. I didn't know about the book and DH is on his way to Target, so is picking it up for me. Not sure of my calorie intake, but it feels like a lot less than normal. Definitely healthier options last week, more fruit, lots of vegetables. Only one day last week was I literally watching the clock for my time to start, otherwise it hasn't had any effect on my fasting for 16 hours.

DD, SIL and I started IF again 4 weeks ago. We are doing 5:2 with a 14 hour gap on the fasting days and 800 calories. I lost 1.1kg the first week, and haven't lost anything the next three weeks.

You are doing great! 👍🏻

It’s also hard to figure out how much I should eat- I’m just letting my body tell me (I don’t count calories). But I only want to lose about 3 pounds and just use IF for Maintenance. But I work out a lot so I want to be sure I’m getting enough for that.

I'm currently doing three 42's per week (actually working on a 66 right now - with crutches). I gain on even OMAD.

I have also cut out all cokes and most bread but otherwise I am eating what I want.
