Greetings all. I didn't get much posted last month, but, I did get several things near the end of the month so I saved posting about them until today.
I've done really well with clothing at Salvation Army. As most of you know, I prefer hard goods to clothing but one of the kids is growing like a weed. A lot of what I have been getting is workout gear.
I've had a few misses on pants because they are harder to eyeball size wise. I did get two pair of Vineyard Vines pants, new with tags, for .99 cents each.
Tops are a whole different ballgame and I have scored well on them. I'm finding Under Armor and Nike for .99 cents to $4. Under Armor hoodies for $4.
A Marmot ski jacket, minus the zip off hood, for $7.50 because it's off season. What an amazing deal.
For hard goods, I got:
- Belleek vase $2.99
- vintage coil woven basket, .99 cents. I don't know how to tell if it's Native American or from another country. If anyone can point me to a source of where to look it up I'd appreciate it.
- vintage, unmarked, art pottery planter, .99 cents. I'm guessing that the color of the glaze is what will help me figure out who the maker is.
The most amazing deal I found was from the jewelry counter, a Lladro choker. It is the Magic Forest Choker that retails for $490 on their website. It was in the store a full month before the shut down. When I said I wanted to buy it I was asked if I was prepared to pay the price. The price the store had on it was $199.99. It looked like $19.99 until I had the box in my hands.
I said it was on sale. They said they'd have to check with the regional manager because they priced it. I was fine with that. The regional manager confirmed that I was correct and it was .99 cents!!!!! They had the box open so no one knew it was Lladro. Heck, I didn't even know Lladro made jewelry until then.
I also bid on two different online auctions. I won one lot. I'll post about it tomorrow because I'm picking it up then.

Yesterday, I went with my husband at lunch time to pick up my auction lot. As I expected, the pick up went safely and smoothly. It was easy in and easy out. Our stuff was in the garage and we pulled the car right up to it. Auctioneer had mask and stayed more than six feet away. Another person arrived and stayed at the bottom of the driveway until we left.
My husband has been playing in a billiard league longer than I have known him. There was a nice pool cue with a hard case in the lot which is why I bid on the lot. In the picture the wrap looked great, the inlay was lovely, the case was great. The only thing we were taking on faith was the condition of the tip because it couldn't be seen in the picture. Luckily, the tip is in great shape.
Also in the lot was:
- vintage, black rotary phone
- brass piano lamp
- brass and crystal lamp
- 2 wall light fixtures
- spare lamp shade
- Pier One vase with it's original $29.99 label on the bottom
- candle holder
- 2 vintage nesting tables
- 3 clocks
- framed oil painting
- porcelain chandelier
- computer speakers
- laundry basket full of hangers, which is something we need and will run through the dishwasher
- box of acrylic snowflake Christmas ornaments
- more items that I can't think of because they aren't in front of me
There were other items which we left behind. It was take what you want, leave what you want.
Later, my husband got to look over the pool cue and found out that the auctioneer had the wrong maker listed in the post. I'm sure the auctioneer just assumed that the pool cue was the same brand as the case. We purchased the lot because of what the auctioneer listed. The maker he had, who is now deceased, made custom pool cues which used sell anywhere from $100 for beginner sticks to $1,000 for a high end stick which the photo looked like.
Happily, it turned out that the pool cue is a brand that is high quality and my husband really likes. He already has 2 of the same brand.
What a great deal for $45 for all of it. Planning to sell/donate what we don't need.

A neighbor down the street had a tag sale this weekend. I don't know if he buys storage lockers or does clean outs. He had some pretty neat stuff. It took me multiple trips to carry everything to the car. Some of it was bulky. He doesn't tag anything so it's kind of hard to shop. There were some genuine primitive things and some reproductions. Here's what I got:
- new in package, pear wood comb
- new in package, cheaters
- Lego set
- reproduction tin spice containers
- reproduction enamel soap bowl ( super happy to get this to use for my Magic Eraser and scrubber)
- vintage speckle enamel pie plate
- miniature, ornate, porcelain Nippon pitcher
- vintage wooden cutting board
- 2 small wooden wall cabinets
- reproduction enamel toilet sign, tag was still on the back from Michaels
- vintage jelly belly animal pin
- vintage wooden rolling pin
- handmade ladle (when I found that I really started digging in the box it was in but didn't find anymore)
- new in package, Ricky & Morty keychain
- vintage wooden tool bin
- plus, a few other little doodads
There were some antiques that were lovely but just wouldn't look right in my house. There were even Fiesta plates, but, I passed them up because they were white.
A reseller, who they know, arrived and probably filled at least 1/3 of his van. I didn't see everything he bought, but I did see him packing up 6 large totes filled with yarn, 2 giant bags of yarn, a tote of precut quilt pieces, filled vintage sewing basket, 2 large boxes of linens, 2 metal shopping carts, an antique wooden box just about the size of a steamer trunk. I'd love to know what else he bought.
Did anyone else go to any tag sales?

I stopped into Salvation Army this week. I picked up: - Orvis rain jacket .99 cents. I'm pretty happy about that, kids need new rain gear. They've been going fishing with my husband at the river. I haven't gone with them yet. For some reason I'm not afraid to fall out of a boat into a lake but I am afraid to fall into a river. - I scored on Tupperware. I got 19 tumblers in various colors. They had them priced different prices and I asked the person who was ringing me up about the difference. They said, "I wouldn't have put those prices on them if I were the one marking them, so I'll give them to you at 3 for .99 cents." I wasn't even looking for a deal, but I'm sure glad I got it. I missed out on a piece of Nemadji pottery. The colors were so pretty, but you can't win them all. Speaking of winning, I won some things on an online auction. There was local pick up. There was a set of 5 vintage drinking glasses that look like: www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Green-ZOO-SAFARI-ANIMALS-6-promotional-drinking-glass-1-pt I paid less than $5 with the buyers premium included. I also got 2 vintage, new in the box, doll making kits. I paid less than $2. Included with them was a mystery box which looked like doll clothes. It ended up having doll clothes and vintage porcelain doll parts. There was also another large box with it that I knew nothing about. There was a vintage doll, new in the box, doll clothes and several dolls, as well as a troll doll. I'm looking forward to taking it all out and going through it. I stopped at an estate sale being run by a company I know. There were only 3 people in the entire house while I was there so it was super safe. Our city just started letting people have sales last week and there is a very specific set of rules that are expected to be followed. I bought 4 boxes of vintage glass, Christmas ornaments. Two boxes were at least 60 years old and the other two were probably 40 years old. I also picked up a yard stick, a grabber, a leather drawstring marble bag, a paint by number, and a crayon drawn picture of Jesus. I wish I knew if a child or an adult drew it. Maybe when I reframe it I'll find a clue. If it is safe to be out in your area I'd love to hear if you've found any treasures.

I went to the local thrift store with my mother in law and her sister. I am in a resort town.. and have been donating car loads to the place. I found a hand made turkish rug.. it had been out only two hours.. clean, no damage..all the fringe.. we are redoing to the bones a condo.. so I talked dh into coming down and looking at it. and we bought it.. $1500. and people behind me in line were raving about it as I (Doc Manyard)

I have been mostly donating, but I did get a few odds and ends from my quick run after drop off. I got some fruit shaped plastic ice cubes for 49 cents, the kids love them in our sensory bin at school and a really cool lakeshore brand magnet board for math practice, it has gems that are magnetic and a wand to move them around With boards you insert to practice addition, it looks brand new and will be great at our “independent “ table when school starts again. That was 1.49. I also got a nice Lodge grill pan, that was 9.99, so not a fantastic bargain, but since the money supports the Humane Society I am happy to pay more. Got some other odds and ends for school, tiny rubber bands for geo boards, fossil rubbing boards (also lakeshore brand) and new colored elmers glue bottles.

I am living vicariously through all of your posts. Our thrift store opened briefly (by appointment only), then closed down again June 26 until further notice. They are doing some FB Live sales, but mostly clothes. I'm not a clothes shopper at thrift stores so don't even watch. I really miss that in person, thrill of the hunt and the excitement of finding something awesome. Can't wait to be able to go back in and just browse
You have all found some great things! Way to go!

I bought 9 skeins of alpca yarn for my Mom yesterday for $9. I bought it after I had dropped her off at therapy so it was a nice surprise for her when she got out

I went furniture shopping this week. Found a sectional I love at Ashley but looked at a few more local stores. Found the exact same sectional with ottoman for $500 less! No tax and free delivery! Score! But I do have to wait 8 weeks for it.

I have yet to go to any GW or Savers but I was lucky enough to win an online auction. For just under $20 I got a box of approximately 125 ornaments, most of which are older Hallmark. I feel like this coming year I'll have a brand new tree seeing I'll be using so many new ornaments. Obviously I'm not keeping all of them but a big chunk I am.
My SO collects Pepsi stuff and my brother sent me a link about some warehouse over an hour from our house that was going to be selling a bunch of the stuff, among other things. What we saw made us head over. Amazing stuff! I don't know how he didn't buy more but it's not like he has much area to display it yet. I keep trying to talk him into getting rid of the pool table that his family has. The slate is cracked and its covered in stuff, if he got rid of it he could fix up the room really nice.

Lots of estate sales in my town and neighboring towns this weekend.
There was one a few blocks from my house.
I found 8 great fishing lures, and one of them was still in the original package.
I also got: a Spode Cookies for Santa plate, a large tin of vintage buttons, a delft toothpick holder, and a Coca Cola glass with Santa on it.
It was $5 for all.

I dropped some stuff off the other day and picked up this beauty for 50 cents. I also got a set of old time radio shows on cassette for someone in my family.. He has a Walkman and loves stuff like that. I think there are 36 cassettes and it was 1.99. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCzUEPaAUro I am going to hang it up in my scrapbook room.

I didn't find much this weekend. All the things I wanted were gone before I got there. (Wading pool for rescue dog, comics, blowmold).
Update on yarn from estate sale on the 10th: the family ended up giving my Mom's volunteer group what was left over. The group knits/crochets baby hats, hospice blankets, fidget sleeves, etc. They meet tomorrow so Mom and I will take it then. I made sure to get an address to get a thank you card to them.

cecilia, what a nice update on the yarn. Fingers crossed that you find what you're looking for this weekend. @skellinton, some good came back to you for donating. The cassettes were a good find, and the record is adorable. I stopped into Salvation Army this week. I bought: - 3 Stampin Up stamp sets, $1.99 each. - for my youngest, a writing set, four bottles of ink, and a glass pen. $5.99 Two new ladies were training at the cash registers. The one who waited on me had a very hard time figuring out my change. I hope it was just beginners nerves. She seemed very nice.
