cadoodlebug, a good chiropractor is worth their weight in gold. Hope you feel better soon. Mine keeps me in tip top shape for the job I do. Boy, don't I know it. I go every 3 weeks and he charges me $45 a visit. This is the first time in over 3 years that I've needed an emergency visit. He worked on me for a good 20-25 minutes, gave me exercises to do and gave me some good tips. And just charged me the regular $45! It feels much better ~ just have to be careful. Oh boy! It is California though. Ours are around 35.00 but my insurance brings it down.

I only have a minute to post, because I have to go the library and pick up my sister’s library book at her preassigned 4:00 appointment time. She is stuck down at Stanford with her DH who has medical issues related to a stroke years ago. And there went my minute! BYE!! JK, we’re having cheeseburgers and overcooked zucchini for dinner (because we both like it overcooked and we don’t care what the rest of the world thinks). And now I really gotta run.

DD was working late so she made our fasting day dinner before she left for work - zoodles (which btw always autocorrects to doodles) with some kind of chickpea sauce. Hmmmm. I was dubious. I had a couple of bites and blech, so I rinsed the sauce off and made a sauce with garlic, pasta and olives. Much better. When DD got home she had a taste and threw it out - tinned spaghetti on crumpets for her. And once 4:00 hits I'll be on a 4 day weekend. Not wanting to one-up you but once 5:30pm hits, I will be on a NINE day weekend! I didn't really want to waste my annual leave, but we were told that we MUST take at least 20 days of leave this year, and we are not allowed to carry over any more than 20 days into next year. Seeing that I was already up to 37 days owing, with more accruing every week, I had to take a week off. I usually take a week off at this time of year, during school holiday, but in normal times we would be heading off to the mountains to go skiing. Obviously that's not happening this year.

Well it looks like Men’s Night is a bust so I will be making dinner for two. I don’t want to go back to the store. I was there once already (the parking lot anyway). It’s 4 pm already so there might be a line up.

And possibly playing taxi for my son. Although my car died last week - I am pretty sure it is the alternator - so I need to get that fixed. The mechanic is busy and don't know when he can fix it, so I might be without a car for a few days.

What a drag, AussieMeg. I hope that your car is fixed and running perfectly. Enjoy your time off.

PLurker , I just saw your post in yesterday’s thread. Thank you kindly but I’m not really a good cook. I’m lazy all the way. Too many ingredients and I will skip a recipe entirely. BUT my New Mexican rice recipe came from my MIL and it’s really good. Also thank you destined2bmom and jeremysgirl for the kind words. NEW MEXICAN RICE 2+ cups raw rice 1 onion, diced a little garlic, minced 1 bell pepper, diced 1 can (16ish oz) diced tomatoes 2 cans (8 oz) tomato sauce 1 quart chicken broth fresh cilantro, maybe half a bunch or more, chopped fine salt & pepper You need a large-ish pot for this, at least 4 quarts. Brown the rice, onion, garlic, and bell pepper in a little oil. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, and broth; stir in salt and pepper to taste and cilantro. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer till rice is done, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a little water if needed during cooking. You can serve this with any Mexican meal. It is really, really, to-die-for good if you melt some shredded cheddar on top. NOTE: lately I’ve been adding the juice of one lime, too, and a sprinkle of TJ’s chili lime seasoning. Not sure I can really taste the difference. ETA you don’t really quite need two full cans of tomato sauce. I use about 1-3/4 can.

There were excellent vegetables to go with the rice and butter chicken. What was I thinking we had nothing??? How do you get curry out of men’s chinos?

I drove up the coast with my baby for his 16th birthday - ack!! he brought a couple friends (who are part of his “social bubble” - they are in summer high school football every day together which is in groups of 12...). Anyway...we drove up the coast and we are grilling bratwurst on the fire pit and I made macaroni salad and green salad for them. I’m letting them enjoy the fire pit while I hide inside to give them privacy...

[img class="smile" alt=" " lucyg Lazy, too many ingredients skip it etc doesn't take you out of the good cook column, in my book. It's the end result in what you do cook that matters. Yummy is yummy 😋 one of my kid's favorite things is Ravasagna. I made a lasagna type thing stacking and layering frozen raviolis with sauce and cheeses when I was feeling lazy. Now I rarely make it the regular way. PS. Thanks for the recipe!

sueg , any news about your wool? I got a reply to my service ticket with the delivery company, saying they would look into it. That was at about 6:30pm, so I don't expect they will do anything before this morning. I am still mad about it this morning - it is worse than if they just didn't bring it as expected. The driver rang the doorbell, we let him in to the building, and he wrote that it was delivered TO ME, which is obviously not true. I am concerned that means I am out my wool, as he could just say he delivered it, and that I am lying.

How do you get curry out of men’s chinos? My go to with all stains is OxyClean ... spray for the actual stain and powder for the wash ... good luck
