Weird. I thought Texas was exempt from the pandemic.

Weird. I thought Texas was exempt from the pandemic. I know it's not funny, but I really did LOL. ETA I really hope Texas does not experience the levels of infections and deaths that we saw in NYC. It's incredibly frustrating to see months of SIP undone by opening too fast and/or ignoring the advice of the medical community.

I live in the DFW area and it is a HOT mess. This is the biggest group of “You are violating my rights...f$ck my neighbor. It’s not my responsibility to keep them healthy.” It is mind boggling! My county has been on mandatory masks for about a week and you would have thought the world was going to end. 🤦🏻♀️

OMG the tantrums! The governor betrayed us! The mandate is unconstitutional and unenforceable! I will not comply! I will go to jail before I wear a mask! So much for Independence Day weekend! Unfair! Masks aren't effective! Masks are dangerous! Fake news! Libtards! Communism! Reacall the governor!
Not gonna lie, I've been smirking like a son of a bitch while reading the social media commentary.

....and this mandate was issued AFTER the a$$hat lieutenant governor spouted off on how Fauci was not to be believed. I am awaiting the conflict--Will the governor make the lt. governor wear a mask? or will Dan Patrick just stay at home?
The mask set off a text message conflict within my family. Mostly we avoid any comments since 3 siblings have consumed the Trump koolaid.

CDC is not sure the coronavirus can be stopped.
Today's total cases in the US, 53,419

Waiting for someone in particular to arrive on this thread... Is it really a "mandate" if it can't be enforced by law...?

Waiting for someone in particular to arrive on this thread... I’m guessing it’s me? I don’t really have a problem with masks 🤷🏻♀️ Sorry to disappoint you with my boring response on this thread. Now whether people will actually do it is another story... I was out to lunch today in Tarrant County, which already had a mask mandate, including restaurants until you’re seated - A couple showed up without masks. No one said anything to them. They were allowed to come in, go through the line, and pay, without masks. 2 waitresses had their masks under their noses.

I’ve already seen one person claim that her family will leave the state. Okay then.

That’s true and I’ll be shocked if we hear about it actually being enforced. The government is still putting the onus on businesses to enforce it, which clearly isn’t working.

In Virginia, it’s the department of health who had to enforce it. 🤦🏽♀️ That said, we’re still one of the few states that doesn’t have an increase. Positivity rate is stable, after going down for several weeks. I’m optimistic. Our governor took so many precautions early that everyone complained about. We entered stage 3 on Friday (I think) and I laughed at all the people who complained we were moving too fast! Same ones who complained when we were locked down and Texas and FL were opening. Cautiously optimistic. People still aren’t wearing masks 100% but it’s way up in my area, a mix of conservative and liberal. People are still staying in; 5pm at target picking up meds today and it was pretty empty for 5pm at target. Phase 3 was even modified at the last minute to keep bar seating at restaurants shut down. I feel for the rest of y’all right now. I’ve become more comfortable running errands seeing our numbers go down and knowing how it’s spread. I don’t want the fear of someone sneezing at the grocery store and thinking we’re all gonna die to come back! Stay safe Merge!

Yep I love the you can’t enforce it it’s not a law argument. Ugg
People here don’t believe the numbers are really going up or the hospital ICUs are almost full and say it’s all fake. Ugg.
Saw a post where Trump was saying to wear a mask and the comments were hysterical everyone was saying he sold out, I’m not voting for him again and so on. Lol.
I’m just glad we can stay at home and avoid this.

They also have some lovely nicknames for their governor, such as Fuhrer Whitmer, which is disgusting.

Our governor (WA) got booed off stage in one city in another county a few days ago (where the numbers are going way up). Today he decided not to let my county (or maybe the whole state, I can't remember) go into phase 3, because our cases are going up so someone commented the governor was "getting even" for the booing... Can I leave humanity? I'm so tired of dumb people...

Yeah, I’ve been reading some of the comments on Facebook today about Governor Inslee’s mask mandate and we have our fair share of idiots in WA too. He has (understandably) halted phase progression for the whole state because of our increasing numbers .

But, if you're at Church in Texas, masks wont be required. LOL Yeah, ok. I guess Covid doesn't spread like wildfires at Church. *eyeroll*
