Not legal in the city limits here. We’re not interested in lighting them off anyway.

I don't shoot them off, but a lot of people do. They are legal, and we have at least 3 fireworks stores within a couple of miles.

We do not. The only kinds that are legal here are on the ground fountain and sparkler types, but clearly none of the neighbors care about that because they have been shooting off rockets and such for weeks. It's not even noon here and someone is setting off some kind of very loud bomb things. The only plus side is that it is really hot and humid so we actually have all the windows closed and the AC on. Unfortunately these bombs are loud enough that we can plainly hear them anyway and all the cats are cowering.

We have done sparklers with young kids at our New Year’s Eve party in the snow (magical!) and a couple of years ago DS and friends played with lots of leftover boxes around our fire pit. Sparklers and fountains are the only legal ones in CT.
I’ve developed a hatred of the loud ones because over the years we’ve picked up panicked dogs running in the streets, not to mention Posie has gotten more terrified as she’s gotten older.

They are illegal here, but everybody still acts like they are legal. Personally, I have zero interest in them and never buy them.

We are usually with family in Nebraska around the 4th--we shoot off all kinds there because it's legal. This year we are staying home in Iowa. We can buy all of the fireworks we want anywhere in the state, but in our city it's illegal to use them. Of course that doesn't stop most people, especially as the years go by (they were legalized for selling only a couple of years ago, but a lot of metro cities promptly banned their use...but still have to allow them to be sold...) We probably won't shoot any off because our neighborhood has too many big trees to make them worthwhile (and because we're a stickler for the rules some days...and I can see our neighbor reporting us to the cops because she's mad at me!)

Not legal here, and I don't light them off. I have 3 dogs, and one gets REALLY scared, the others are spooked.
I hate the 4th of July because people are stupid with fireworks for weeks on either end of it. My husband took the dogs to the dog park this AM but had to leave because people were lighting off M80s and stuff. It was 8:30AM.
I think they're stupid as hell.

No, I live in Massachusetts and they are illegal. Not that it stops people. My late dog's birthday was July 4th, and she spent 13 years cowering in the shower on her birthday. Last year we had to give her a sedative because she had been getting so panicked.
I have no interest in them.

No we don't shoot them off. My dogs are too scared plus only the ground ones are legal here. I hate them worth a passion. One year my neighbor went to another state and purchased LARGE, house shaking fireworks. The next morning after their fun, I went to take one of the dogs out and the entire cul-de-sac was COVERED in firework remains. I spent an hour cleaning it all up. I then marched myself to his door, and showed him what I cleaned up and told him I would appreciate if he never did it again. I told him about the dogs being scared too, that they are illegal, and that there are people with PTSD in the neighborhood. That was 3 years ago, and so far nothing. He better not or else I will march myself right over there again and call the police. His Rottweilers got out the other day and attacked a neighbors dog so I doubt he messes with anyone this year. The police have been over there quite a bit this week already.

Air and ground are legal here and we almost always light them. We have not done any this year. There are three holidays when lighting fireworks is permitted: Victoria Day, Canada Day, and Diwali.

They are legal here this year. Normally because there is such a big display downtown being Canada's capital the neighborhoods ones are very short and small. That is not the case this year. There are tons of fireworks all over the neighborhood and not just on Canada Day but they started about last Saturday and have been going every night since. Those things aren't cheap so someone is burning a ton of money.

I think they should be left for big displays. the small ones aren't that good and they are dangerous.
This year I have zero desire to celebrate American Independence.

I'm Canadian and they are illegal here ... You just need a permit from your county or municipality. They sell fireworks at our Home Hardware in our tiny town. I don't imagine you can set them off in Calgary but in less populated areas. Here we only have the local fire department and municipality do a show for Canada Day and a guy does a show New Year's Eve. They are not really popular and they are expensive.

Last year we had to give her a sedative because she had been getting so panicked. I have no interest in them. Same. It’s so irritating to see the NH stores packed with people. Our town usually has them twice a year...I suppose at least that’s at a predictable time. But our late dog went crazy with them, and 125 pounds of extremely panicked dog trying to cram himself in a closet was not fun.

They are a huge fire danger in CA and we are VERY dry right now. But that doesn't stop the idiots from shooting them off.

It’s not legal to shoot them off in the city limits here. DH’s birthday is today, so we usually visit his family in rural Eastern Oklahoma for his birthday. We do shoot some off when we are there. They have plenty of land and DH’s dad is a former OKC police detective and very safety conscious. It’s fun, but since it’s not a good time to travel we will be at our home this year.

No. I’m too busy consoling my dog and begging her to just pee already during fireworks season. As DH says “you’re literally setting your money on fire”. Those things are expensive!

We haven’t done personal fireworks in almost 20 years. I was raised in the country and my family did them every year.
They are illegal in my town but legal in the next town over. They are legal in my hometown and county.
People have been lighting them off each night since Monday. I have had a scared German Shepherd Dog sleeping with me each night.

We don't usually do them as we live in a unique area on a pretty large hill in between 3 different towns lower than us that all put on shows. From our patio we can see them all, so we just hang out there and watch the shows from a distance. As there aren't any professional shows this year, my husband was talking about getting some. I think ground only are legal here? I don't even know. We'll see what he comes home with - if anything.

They aren't legal in our city (doesn't stop people from lighting them. They've been going off in our neighborhood for over a week now), but if we go to a friend's house in the county they are legal. We've done that lots of times in the past, but the last few years we have just stayed home since the 4th has been during the week and I almost always have to work the next day. Since it doesn't get dark here until 9:45pm it makes for a late night. We obviously won't be going anywhere this year either. Our city normally does a huge show down at the park but it has been canceled this year. They have broken the big show up into 4 smaller shows throughout the city and they will have "drive in" fireworks at those locations, with social distancing rules to follow. They are also going to show them on a local TV station. The city said "We are just tired of saying no, we wanted to say different, but yes". I think it's a great compromise.

They aren't legal here, but they've been going off EVERY NIGHT for the past couple weeks. Maybe three weeks. It drives me crazy. Some of them are ok, but others sound like mortars.
I live in the middle of Chicago, so it is really jarring. And illegal. The cops aren't even doing anything about it anymore.
