We live in an unincorporated section of our county and they are not banned here. We typically light ground fireworks (sold at the local stand at our grocery store) with other families in our cul-de-sac.
We aren’t lighting them this year. It’s just us and dd (20) at home.

There are places we can legally light them, depending on the current fire hazard risks. But we typically don’t. I’d much rather be able to relax and watch the huge shows.

Ground and air fireworks are legal here. City ordinance says you cannot set off fireworks without a permit at any time except for certain days. The 4th of July days started June 30 and go until the 4th.
We've been hearing fireworks every since the tents opened up selling fireworks.
We used to set off a few. One neighbor is a Vietnam vet so we tell him if we're planning to. He has told us the fireworks don't bother him anymore as his hearing is bad enough to need aids but appreciates us telling him. I asked the kids if they wanted to buy some fireworks this year. They're actually not interested. I think hearing them every night for a month killed the desire.
The neighborhood gets very colorful on the 3rd and 4th so we'll just go out and look around.

Nah, I don’t get that excited about blowing stuff up. I’ve had enough bad experiences with amateurs setting of fireworks that they hold no appeal.

No, the neighbors do a fabulous job of buying them. They are legal in certain areas.

It is not legal to buy, sell, possess, or light them here. Thank goodness.
Also, I have never heard anyone say “light off,” is that a thing?

I don't even know if they are legal here, but I have zero interest in setting them off. Not even sparklers.
To be fair, I have a fear of fire, and a fear of my kids getting burned.
But people set off loud fireworks every single day since April this year. From 7 pm til 2 am. Non stop. Then randomly through out the day.
I'm losing my mind with the noise.

They are legal, but are prohibited in my neighborhood by the HOA. I think it is due to the protected Sandhill Cranes that reside in the area.

I do not. I'm a bit of a goody two-shoes and it's illegal within our city limits, and all surrounding cities. Also, my dad is very sensitive to them (he lives down the street), as are my dogs.

We do fireworks for New Year's Eve, both ground and air. They are legal here just that night, and you can only buy them for about 3 days beforehand. Last year, the city banned them in the inner 'old town', but those of us in the suburbs could still have them - I expect that wider bans will come in in the next few years though. Where we are, people for the neighborhood gather on our street corner just before midnight, and we end up with a show for about 20 minutes, as people do a good job of spacing them out and not all setting them off at once. Obviously, we don't do 4th of July fireworks, though I think most years there is an 'official' display done by one of the US community groups - I doubt that is happening this year with our gathering limits.

They haven't been legal here since the 70s. But it doesn't stop some lunatics from getting hold of them and letting them off occasionally.

They are legal here and unless you own forty acres off by yourself, you are going to be surrounded by them. The first year we lived here, neighbor across the street set off firecrackers and small fireworks for hours. It was not enjoyable especially since it was quite dry and we worried about him setting off a fire. Also not enjoyable was waking up the next morning to find the waste all over the street, our yard, on our roof and in our trees and bushes. Which naturally he did not clean up. As we were cleaning up, he yelled over in a laughing tone, "Bet you are not too happy with me right now! " I glared at him and yelled back, "NO. I am not happy about cleaning up your party." Guy is an idiot .
