Sorry you feel this way. I still say give it another shot. It’s not all the same as the beginning, and gets easier to follow (and more emotional). But I’m a “must read the whole book before deciding I don’t like it” kind of person. I love Hamilton, but not everyone has to. She’s an adult, tried it out, and decided it’s not for her. Lord knows most of us have abandoned plenty of tv shows, albums, movies, books, because we recognized early on that they weren’t for us. Why should she waste more of her time when she already knows she isn’t going to like it? I never said she had to love or even like it. I guess I don’t see an open minded viewing of something as a waste of time. And like I said, I’m not one to abandon something in the middle yet declare I didn’t care for it. How do you know if you don’t actually view/read/listen/taste/try it? I was just trying to encourage someone to not judge an almost 3 hour production by the first half an hour, especially since she seemed interested enough to start it and then post multiple times about it. Heck she’s spent more time posting here which seems odd to me; if you know it’s not for you, why waste time posting about it?

My post to you wasn't rude, you could return the favor. I did try it. I don't see a need to waste three hours when I didn't like 40 minutes of it, but I'm also not the type who feels bound to finish something I don't like. I took the dog to the dog park and for a hike, sorry to keep posting on your thread ma'am.

My big kids and I watched it this afternoon. Absolutely incredible!!!!!!! The amount of talent and dedication layered into that production is unbelievable. I can't wait to watch it again and again.
As much as I have listened to it and know the story, I was NOT prepared for Stay Alive/It's Quiet Uptown. It gutted me.

The line "established the the first NY orphanage" brings on flat out sobbing in this house. Right! As she shared all she did I told my kids, “Hamilton - aka Eliza Hamilton’s backstory.”

You're handslapping me for posting multiple times but you on the other hand were just "engaging in conversation" and then coming at me with the back handed "sorry I was trying to get you to better yourself" apology. I said more than once that I was happy for everyone else. You're upset with someone else's comment and projecting that onto me. It's not that serious and my posts were not intended to offend anyone at all.

Renée Elise Goldsberry in the role of Angelica is brilliant! I loved watching her and completely understand her winning a Tony. I have been fortunate enough to see the traveling show in two different cities, and loved those casts, but this was fun to see the original cast.

Not liking the consistent bass rapping tone. I can't hear what's going on to follow the story...such stark contrast to the women's scenes.

DH sat next to a singer once. So dang annoying! We have to work so hard not to move/dance at the theater, and we are definitely mouthers! Our couch has been rocking all day, and it’s a solid bet that getting to see the choreography so frequently we’ll be doing it while making dinner & cleaning from now on. We still do it to *NSYNC

Love it. Loved it. Loved it. Such a talented cast. I was worried about too many close ups because there is so much going on that I can’t catch it all live. But I think they did an amazing job filming. Loved being able to notice more background interaction of characters, the dancers and other subtleties I missed previously. And all but a few times they used “odd” camera perspectives really added to it I thought, and wasn’t distracting. They were even able to capture much of the magic of the live show with the lighting and stage movement. (That hurricane scene! When they are shot!) For both of us this really added to our enjoyment of the show. And really made us miss live theater! Yes I’m using a lot of exclamation marks, I am just that thrilled and excited!!! I have listened to the soundtrack a bajillion times. I saw the stage production in Seattle. I just watched the original cast on Disney Plus (a huge treat...I never thought I'd get to see this version). The song The Unimaginable gets me every single time.ETA: That scene when Hamilton is shot is so incredibly well done. I'm floored every single time! This. Our son was born way too soon and we haven’t had any success with surrogacy so the “it’s quiet uptown” refrain just guts me. I’ve seen it live 3 times and each and every time I am barely able to make it through it without causing a disturbance. We skip through the song when listening to the cast recording. But we watched the scene today and wow...the scene in our living room wasn’t pretty But it’s done so beautifully and is just very powerful. We are going to watch it again many times, the second starting again in just a little while; I’m hoping at least one of those times I can stop crying enough to actually see what’s going on! Dewryce, ((((((hugs))))))) to both you and your DH.

I’ve seen it 3 times and still I thought it was wonderful and caught things I didn’t before. Of course, part of that was seeing different actors.
A total aside, that first song of King George when he had some major spittle going on...of course, all I could think of was Covid and they need some masks😂

He drinks a glass of water right before it. Just read that he was no longer performing with them in 2016 when this was filmed, so the current actor graciously allowed him to step in. This is a stepping in performance. Did I mention the talent?

I loved Lion King and Hedwig and the Angry Inch that I saw in Seattle. And Beauty and the Beast that we saw at/in the Red Rocks. I’m wondering if I need both music and dialogue. I might give it another try tomorrow. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood today or something.

I just watched it again. Man, I love the choreography and costumes so much. Everything about it is just so brilliant. It won Tony’s for basically everything. IIRC, all the acting except lead female...choreography, lighting, costumes, book, and of course musical. Plus a Grammy and Pulitzer. It doesn’t suck

I was not expecting the hip-hop through out and I don't like it....I could handle about an hour but not much more.. gave up. That’s one of my favorite things about it! Especially since one of the actresses out raps most of the men. Fabulous. Renee is amazing. I'm watching now. I have no knowledge of anything about Hamilton except that it's popular. So far it's cool but I'm having a hard time picking out a lot of the words. I’m so glad the peas recommended we became familiar with the OCR before we saw it the first time; made such a huge difference in our being able to follow it and therefore our enjoyment level because we weren’t so overwhelmed.

Hamilton has over 20,500 words in it. Which is like 3-4 times any other musical. It is a lot to process. I'm just amazed that the actors across all the casts, playing Lafayette/Jefferson, and Angelica can get them out of their mouths. But that's why people recommend listening to the cast album prior, turning on closed captioning and/or visiting lyrics websites. So if you decide you like it, after elevenbilliony times listening to it, it gets easier, lol.

I’m a HUGE Hamilton fan, so seeing the original cast was really special. It didn’t have the magic of live theater, but I still loved it (seeing DD perform was 👌🏻).
