The new series on Netflix is really cute! It's set in current times, with a bit of updating. Sean from The Good Place is Mary Anne's dad and I giggle every time I hear his voice.

I saw the preview last week and will watch it with my dd's this weekend. I couldn't imagine Dawn without her signature California blonde hair, but I'll try to get over myself

Going to watch this, I loved those books back in the day. I remember they had a tv series in the 80's/90's and a movie in the mid-90s. I really liked the movie. Stacey and Claudia were my favorites.

Is it out now? I couldn’t remember what day but I’m kinda looking forward to watching it. I loved the books as a kid.

I wonder if it's more closely related to the recent graphic novels that have been released? I'll have to check it out, thanks!

If you loved the original novels, Scholastic Book club have brought them out in graphic novel form. Our students are loving them! I still have some of the really old novels on the shelves ready for culling, but I think I shall bring them out and put them alongside the new versions.

I wonder if it's more closely related to the recent graphic novels that have been released? I'll have to check it out, thanks! I'm not familiar with them. It's been several years since I read the original books. There are some things I noticed as different. Mary Anne is black and her dad is white. There's a child who is transgender. Another poster said about Claudia having blonde hair, which I completely forgot! She's Hispanic in this one. Claudia's parents got divorced because her dad came out as gay. None of these changes are based around an entire episode. I may be wrong, but wasn't Stacy a bit stuck up in the books? The Stacy in this one doesn't come off that way. I don't love the way they portray Claudia's sister Janine. She appears to be a bit one dimensional.
I like how each character narrates an episode. Like the books.
ETA: Wanted to add the little girl who plays Kristy's step sister is hilarious.

I couldn't imagine Dawn without her signature California blonde hair, but I'll try to get over myself Dawn isn’t a blonde in this??? 😱. Why the heck not? That was a thing throughout the entire series. I’m going to watch this with my daughter. She has read all the old books I kept. I used to have all of them up through the mid 90s. It was my favorite series for a long time. Then I stopped reading them. About 9 years ago I told my mom she could donate most of them to her local public school. I kept a few of my fav books, but only 8-10. I had no idea my daughter would love them as much as I did. I wish I had kept them. But my mom told me that the librarian at the school was overjoyed by the donation. 🥰. (I also had her donate almost all of my Fear Street collection; I kept a few favs of that too. That was a gigantic hit as the kids apparently like spooky books and they didn’t have a lot!).

Dawn isn’t a blonde in this??? 😱. Why the heck not? That was a thing throughout the entire series. She definitely has a free spirit vibe.

I LOVE this series and the current updates. I totally binged last night and just turned it back on again. I have a lot of books in my classroom but I’ve never read them. I don’t think many students have but maybe now there will be some interest. I binged watched the shows last night. Cute show.
