I keep seeing previews on Netflix for Unsolved Mysteries. The stories seem interesting and tragic. But ultimately so unsatisfying to never know what happens to the people involved.
Anyone watch? What do you like?

260 of the cold cases on Unsolved Mysteries have been solved with the help of publicity from the show!
I think they’re fascinating, but the music creeps me out.

We tried watching the new ones the other night. The creepy music was missing. And there didn’t appear to be a host. But the first story just dragged on and on. We were bored and turned it off before that story even finished. 😕 I was disappointed. Maybe I’ll try it again in a few weeks.

You watch to see if there is a show you might be able to help with! And then eventually there will be updates.
I agree it's not as good as knowing the outcome but this new version seems well done. I've only watched the first one but I thought it was good.

i have not checked out the new unsolved mysteries but gotta admit, i am skeptical without robert stack's voice.

I’ve watched two episodes
They feel long because the entire hour is dedicated to one story - unlike the original where it was broken up into a few different stories over the hour. In this respect, it’s no different to a lot of true crime shows on ID. And they weren’t just true crime, but supernatural oddities, people trying to find long lost relatives, etc. And they had lots of updates.
The stories are interesting, but I prefer the old format. It needs a host too.
Also, I dare you to not look at the second episode and see someone sporting a “speak to the manager” haircut. Even my oblivious-to-women’s-hair-trends husband commented on it.

Just so he can see what he’s missing. 🤣

We liked it so far. My extended family is currently discussing our theories on episode 1.
I'm hoping between Google, other internet resources, and crowd effort, some of these crimes will get solved.

There may be a resolution in this case soon. There is very strong evidence concerning someone who is already in prison in Germany for sexual offences concerning children, and who was living in Portugal when Maddy went missing.

The same word popped into my head too: unsatisfying.
I was flipping channels last month and watched an episode of Dateline that focused on a serial killer in New Mexico that preyed on prostitutes and runaways. There was no resolution at the end of the show, and it was just doubly sad for the family members.

Mary McGinnis Morris was a friend of mine from college. We were in marching band together, and she married the brother of another band member. For a few years, I saw her at Homecoming when we came back to play in the alumni band. I moved to North Carolina in the early 90s, and she moved to Texas, and we did not see each other after that. Her murder was featured on the original Unsolved Mysteries. unsolved.com/gallery/mary-lou-mary-mcginnis-morris/In those days I did not have any social media accounts, and I had not heard about her murder in Texas. When her episode aired, the local news had a story about it, and my mom asked if I had known her. I did not see the episode when it originally aired, and I am so glad because I cannot imagine hearing about her murder that way. I wonder how many people get blindsided by these stories? And I cannot imagine seeing one of them and realizing that I had information that might help solve the mystery. ETA: Her murder has never been solved, although many still believe her husband did it. The authorities know the exact time she was attacked and killed because she had called 911, and the murder was recorded. Her husband called her cell phone, or her cellphone called him, I forget which, AFTER the murder, and the call lasted for 4 minutes. The common theory is that he had hired someone to kill her, and that person confirmed she was dead during that phone call. When the other Mary Morris was killed a few days earlier, they did not find her wedding ring, and some thought that was the "proof of death" for the hit. Then when it turned out to be the wrong Mary Morris, the second murder was committed a few days later with no room for error.

I enjoy these unresolved mysteries -- often more than I like resolved ones (I loved Disappeared for that reason -- you never knew unless you cheated whether or not the episode would end with the mystery solved).

I always think, if watching an unsolved mystery frustrates me, i can imagine how much worse it is for the families who are living it. 😕

My grandparents used to watch it religiously and I remember watching it with them when I was very young and whatever I watched scared the bejeezus out of me, so I will not be watching the reboot. I love that many of the cases were solved though, way to go armchair detectives!

I just watched the first episode. Though it was a little slow-paced, I liked it. I’ll watch more.
Spoiler for the first episode....
I was frustrated that the show touched very little in Porter’s business. Clearly there is a connection there. Maybe this was purposeful? I would hope they the police have done at least some investigation of this company.

The company probably put a gag order on all the employees so it was hard for the show to elaborate on Porter's company.

Very true. I did some internet digging and it seems as if this Porter guy is pretty slimy in general.
There are comments all over his company Facebook page in regards to Rey’s death.

I binge watched. Awesome. I actually read an article as to why the creators didn’t want a narrator. Fascinating stuff. Very sad as well.

Two of the episodes are not really mysteries. We know what happened. We know who did it. It's only a "mystery" because no one will ever talk. They should have called those episodes "best kept secret... Ever"

I like the new one. It's format is nothing like the old one! It's more like a Dateline or 20/20 episode. It is only one mystery per episode. I appreciate that there is interviews of a lot of people and it's in depth. The episode about the French family is terrible! That one was all in subtitles. They do have an unexplained episode about a possible alien sighting in 1969 in the U.S.

I’m only 2 episodes in and while I enjoy it, I prefer the older formate with multiple storylines that cross different genres. And more music, they need more places to add creepy music. I’ll continue to watch, but feels more like Dateline and not Unsolved Mysteries.

Anybody watch the one about the hair dresser? Her son is named Pistol. That was incredibly sad. Her husband was definitely giving off the creep vibe. So cold. Maybe it’s just the directing but it sure seems like he’s more than capable of murdering her.

I’m the same way. It makes it more spooky when you imagine what might have happened. One of my favorite reddit groups is Unresolved Mysteries.
