I searched for a thread and couldn't find one, if I'm overlooking one, please direct me to it and I'll barge into that room. :-)
If there isn't one.. here goes... Talk about drama!! This is the train wreck I can't stop watching.
So many shallow people and crazy twists. Is there anyone out there that cares to discuss??

We've been binge watching. I think we are on episode 7 or 8. Why do so many of the women look like they have botox and/or lip fillers? Also, possible spoiler:

I have watched it sporadically, and agree it is a train wreck. They did a horrible job of matching the couples or listening to what each couple is looking for.
The one gal, Stacey, I think, has had so much work done on her face that she looks ridiculous, not to mention the boob job. I feel it is the women who have the most issues.
The one couple started off really badly, but seem to be enjoying each other now.
Why do I watch the stuff??

Unless I’ve missed some of it, the Australian one has only just started to be shown over here. I’ve seen the one with the STUNNING more mature lady and her beach wedding and the girl in her 30s with the 11 year old son. I think the identical twins are next.
Why do they seem so bent on “matching” the wrong people? The U.K. one takes far more care with the matches.

I think it moves a little faster than the American version, which I appreciate, but I honestly can’t tell some of the women apart. So many dark brunettes with similar features!

I fkn hate that crap show sooooooo much. But it appears I am in the minority as it rates its socks off here. I did watch a few episodes of last year's season, while I was staying at my mum's house. Then I watched a few more after that because I just had to see what happened! Talk about drama, OMG. I would recommend watching 2019 if you can find it anywhere. Major drama and one gorgeous couple who were truly in love and ended up getting married for real. I have watched it sporadically, and agree it is a train wreck. They did a horrible job of matching the couples or listening to what each couple is looking for. It's infuriating! The so called experts...... I mean, why would you match a young vain self-absorbed botox loving twit with an older laid back farmer. Blind Freddy could see that that relationship was never in a million years going to work. Then again, I guess that's the whole point...... choose the most unlikely pairings then sit back and wait for the fireworks - and the ratings.

I'm caught up now, so I can read this thread. :)I like the Australian version much more than the US one because it's faster paced. I feel like I can skip 3 episodes of the US show and not miss a thing.
I also like that there is a recommitment every week.
The personalities of the Australians are much bigger than the Americans.

Why do they seem so bent on “matching” the wrong people? You know it's a TV show, right? What is the actual "job" of the people making this show? is their job to match up couples who will live happily ever after? or is their job to make a TV show that is popular, gets lots of viewers (more controversy = more people talking about it = more viewers), rates well, attracts sponsors and ultimately makes buckets of money for the network?' There's your answer!

Yeah there is definitely a LOT more drama than on the US version...I also think it is weird how they put them in a dining hall with an open bar and then the experts sit behind some type of one way mirror and just observe.
I thought that the experts should have called out Michael and Stacy last week for their shit stirring at the party!

The contestants are there purely to raise their social profile and get that blue tick on Instagram. Is there a more vapid way of earning a living or freebies?
I wish they would cast more genuine people like Jules and Cam but like posters above have said - that wouldn't rate

I didn’t watch because the promos made it out to be more outrageous than the American version and although I watch, I needed a faux drama break.

There's your answer! Well yeah, I get your point but the UK one has run for at least 2 series and they treat the matching pretty seriously. Unless I’ve missed something in ours, whilst wearing my rose tinted glasses, but they do intend that the couples are matched with the intention of staying together. I assumed yours would be the same but I get a different vibe from it. I’m still watching it because I’m a sucker for this type of show.

Does anyone know of a way to watch seasons 1-6 of Australia MAFS? I looked on YouTube and DailyMotion, but can't find any of them. I may just not be good at searching.

Just finished the episode with the cheating and toothbrush tampering. What is wrong with these people?!!! Does “hooked up” mean kissing or did they sleep together as well?

Yes, apparently in Australia, 'hooked up' can be just kissing - at least it was in this case. These couples are dropping fast...no wonder they had to change it up this week!!
