I mostly listen to true crime but I like to branch out lately.
Just finished Dying for sex by Wondery. Wow, was it GOOD (I recommended it to my friend and she could not stop listening and finished all 6 episodes in one day). Highly, recommend! If you listen please follow up on this board would love to talk about it.
Another I liked...was a fiction called Borrasca. It was quite a story.
Some of my favs are S-town, cold, Dr. death, shrink next door, Something about Pam, over my dead body, who the hell is Hamish, Teachers pet.
So many more I just cant think right now.
Ohhh This american life espisode Dr Gilmer was really good.
Any newer ones can you recommend. I am going to start Guru by Wondery, anyone listening to this one?

I primarily listen to true crime podcasts (Generation Why, Once Upon a Crime, and some others) along with Stuff You Should Know. But lately I’ve listened to some serial podcasts designed for tweens. Take a look at the Gen Z Media podcasts. I listened to all of Six Minutes (each episode is only six minutes but there are about 200 episodes) and I was really sad when it was over! I’m currently listening to the spin-off, which isn’t as good but it has some tie-ins, so I’m in. Last week I listened to Treasure Island 2020 which was excellent, even though I didn’t expect to like it. Six Minutes is still better, though. I plan to listen to more of their shows.

History Hyenas is probably my favorite right now. It's a comedy podcast with some history mixed in. Just keep in mind it is comedy and they push things. So if you are easily offended, it's not for you. I have also been enjoying Talking Sopranos, where 2 of the actors have been discussing the show one episode at a time.

Over my dead body is about my friend's murder -- Danny wanted a bunch of kids, so talked to me a lot about it (we were both Jewish criminal law profs), and my first sign that there was trouble in his marriage was when there wasn't a third kid in the time frame I expected . If you never listened to In the Dark, I recommend that. I also liked Death in Ice Valley. Neither of those are new. I haven't found a new podcast I love in a while, but I listen to Up First and The Daily most mornings; Pod Save America when I have the time (its so long!), and 99% Invisible (which is not new but is consistent and is really eclectic in content). I also like Criminal (although the older eps are better).

I listen to a lot based on books and/or TV. If you like Harry Potter, I recommend MuggleCast. For Outlander, I like Outlandercast. For Grey’s Anatomy, The On Call Room. For This Is Us, I like This Is Us, Too with Mary and Blake and This is Us with Kei and Clive.

We're listening to Missing in Alaska right now. It's a true story about two senators(??) whose plane went missing in the 1970's and some allegations brought up afterwards.

Believed. It is about the USA gymnastics team and the arrest and testimonies against Larry Nassar. I think the podcast was even better than the recent Athlete A documentary on Netflix.

Up And Vanished - Season 1, The Tara Grinstead murder from 2005. The case is solved during the making of the podcast. If you like true crime you’ll love this one.

Honestly, I don't know if she was behind it. I knew him better than I knew her--the podcast undersells the extent to which she was a trailing spouse at the law school where basically people treated her as someone who got the job because of her powerful husband (even though she was actually smart and qualified), but I knew both of them, and spent a fair amount of time around her, and still could not tell you. I do think it is 100% clear that her family did it and that she knows they did, however. She has cut ties with all of use in the academic community who were friends with her husband, so I haven't been connected to her in years (she cut off contact between her kids and Danny's family and changed their last names, which the podcast does mention).

At times it’s corny but I really found myself rooting for the characters. There’s some sort of cliffhanger at the end of each episode, which makes it fun.

Office Ladies is my favorite fluff Podcast. If you watched The Office, it's Pam and Angela (Jenna and Angela) going episode by episode in order, talking about each episodes, giving behind the scene info and talking to fellow cast members. They atr currently in Season 3, so about 40ish episodes in.

Is Dying for Sex podcast fiction or non fiction? I can’t do fiction.😉
I have followed the case of “Over my Dead Body”, but haven’t listened to the podcast. I don’t know if the wife is guilty of Danny’s murder, but her brother and mother appear to be! Those two need to be in jail with the people they hired to kill Danny! 🤬

I also listen to true crime, but have switched gears lately.
Here are two specific episodes of two podcasts I listened to recently that I found interesting and thought provoking.
All the Wiser--Ep. 22 BJ Miller
All the Wiser is about people overcoming difficult circumstances and BJ Miller relays his perspective as a palliative care physician.
Stuff Mom Never Told You--"Feminism and the English Language" Sounds dry but absolutely was not!

I don't do true crime that's about murders, but give me a good conspiracy theory! Wind of Change is fascinating! Description: It’s 1990. The Berlin Wall has just come down. The Soviet Union is on the verge of collapse. A heavy metal band from West Germany, the Scorpions, releases a power ballad, “Wind of Change.” The song becomes the soundtrack to the peaceful revolution sweeping Europe — and one of the biggest rock singles ever. According to some fans, it’s the song that ended the Cold War. Decades later, New Yorker writer Patrick Radden Keefe hears a rumor from a source: the Scorpions didn’t actually write “Wind of Change.” The CIA did. Stuff They Don't Want You to KnowReply AllAnd Pod Save America, Pod Save the World, and Pod Save the People.

I just started this one last night. It is really good! One of the politicians who died was Rep. Hale Boggs (D-La) who was the father of Cokie Roberts.

I'm so sorry about your friend. I felt so badly for his parents. They lost their son in a violent murder and now their grandkids are being raised by the persons who are probably responsible for his murder.

I love podcasts, but usually not true crime. My list is embarrassingly long - I’m a full-fledged digital hoarder.
Does anyone if there’s a way to keep a podcast ‘wish list’ or bookshelf so that I can keep just those podcasts I’m listening to right now separate from the rest? I hate having to scroll through a hundred podcasts to get to the ~5 I listen to regularly.
Here’s my faves: Another Bachelor podcast - for Bachelor fans. Rose cast is also good. The Bible for Normal People - obviously that one is quite niche By the Book - the hosts live by self help books and then give a review. So good. CBC - lots of their news podcasts Feminist Survival Project 2020 - by Emily Nagasaki author of Come as You are and Burnout. Love her books and podcast For the Love - pretty varied guests and topics Gaslight - fictional serial. So good How’s work with Esther Perel My Dad Wrote a Porno - start at the beginning. Listen alone or with (girl)friends over a glass of wine. It’s hysterical. You’re welcome (and thanks to the pea who told me about it) Revisionist History with Malcolm Gladwell Sandra - also a fictional serial. I’m on the hunt for more if anyone has suggestions Uncover - kind of true crime
Just a few of my favourites. I feel guilt because there’s so many awesome podcasts I haven’t got to yet

I like tv show ones that go episode by episode
