Ugh, that sounds horrendous! I was going to ask why on earth you were living there, then I read this part: This could be such a nice place to live. I wish their flags and all had been on display before we moved here. That explains it - you didn't know at the time.

Sitting here surrounded by dogs in a similar situation. Our neighborhood is probably split politically. Idiots and their fireworks!

I live in an area just like you. It’s so over the top right now. My poor dog is drooling and panting and refuses to leave my side. She’s wedged between my DH and I on the couch. Oh, and not only is it illegal to shoot them off in town, which is always ignored by a few special people anyway, we are on water restrictions due to low rain and I will be shocked if there is not a fire started by some of these idiots.
I’m just done with people right now. Done.

... You'd think we were in a war zone from the sound of it. I really believe there are more explosions going off than when we have the large orchestrated professional display. ... Here too. It’s always crazy but this year is magnitudes worse. They started Father’s Day weekend and there’s been at least a few virtually every night since. Yesterday was bad enough but tonight is the worst ever. Some are so loud I’m jumping. Our poor dog is hyperventilating. Meds and the Thundershirt aren’t enough to deal with this insanity. Been going on for 9 hours. Only good news is we had a bit of rain earlier from a pop-up storm because it has been quite dry and our trees and roof are the landing spot for much of our neighbor’s pyrotechnic debris.

I live in very liberal land, fireworks are illegal in my town and all but one of our surrounding towns. They have been going off all day today. They were only going off a few times each night since Sunday. But today they started this morning. I’m in bed with our drugged up trembling German Shepherd Dog

Don't feel alone - my area is not exactly Trump country....and still we hear (illegal) fireworks for the past few hours. I'm sad my dog is getting older but at least she can't really hear the fireworks like she used to so is sleeping through it. Ugh..so annoying!

Most years we only hear a handful of fireworks but they are going off like crazy right tonight. I'm stunned that I haven't heard any firetrucks.

My neighbors invited us to a cookout and fireworks tonight.
We moved to a new construction home last fall and have met them a few times. Great people, we had fun talking to them and having a couple beers.
But now? I won’t lie, I really wanted to go. But the practical me knows it’s not right and I stayed in my house. There were probably 30 people outside and fireworks went on for an hour.
I know I did the right thing, even though I’ll probably have the reputation as the antisocial neighbor. I really want friends and a life outside but I just can’t do it.
I work with cancer patients and it breaks my heart to see how vulnerable some of them are. I wore my mask and socially distanced for THEM. On Monday I start back working at home and that will likely be very long term. But every time I leave my house I’ll have my mask on.
All the anti-mask people? I just wonder if they’ve ever asked themselves, what if you’re wrong?
I know, that was a tangent. I just don’t get carrying on like it’s life as usual.

So Cal here. This is what I would imagine Bosnia sounds like. Or a gigantic vat of popping corn. Continuous nonstop popping and booming. Ri-damn-diculous. I’m ashamed of everyone that’s doing this. Most cities around me ban fireworks.

Most cities around me ban fireworks. This was our neighborhood. For hours. I couldn’t believe how close together the booms were and for how long it continued. It’s 12:39 and I’m still hearing booms. Just farther apart now.

Good for you. Problem with them is, it never occurs to them to wonder. They are far too selfish and thoughtless for that.

We have been hearing them regularly since mid June but last night was over the top. We watched Independence Day outside with another couple and had to wait until almost 10 to start the movie because of how loud they were.
Then as a bonus at 3:30am there were 10 HUGE blasts from our neighbor 3 houses up. They are vile.

Our neighborhood was not too awful last night. What helped my dog was going into our bedroom, which seems to be much quieter than other rooms in the house and turning the white noise machine up loud.
I think next time we buy a house, we will try to drive around the areas on and around July 4 to gauge the level of stupidity.

I know they canceled a lot of public fireworks to prevent gatherings, but they didn't ban people from doing their out personal fireworks.

I honestly think they should have just done the professional ones based on what actually happened last night. We live in a super liberal area and they were everywhere last night. Lots and lots of the in air ones in every direction.

I guess my dog is so old now that she cant hear the fireworks, so I guess that is a mixed blessing. They did not bother her much at all.

With the cancellation of all the city fireworks, I quite enjoyed watching all the neighbors fireworks. We just sat on the dock and enjoyed the evening.

My poor pups last night. The older one was really freaking out. And we even gave them some doggy CBD oil. We live near a lot of lakes with big money to spend and big parties. Last night was especially bad.

Eh. My county cancelled fireworks this year. People set them off until about midnight last night. Just like they have done every single year for the past 5 years, even though there is usually a weekend full of fireworks out on by the different cities here.
People just really like blowing stuff up on the 4th of July. I don’t have a problem with it. I figured there would be an increase in the number of people setting off their own fireworks due to the cancellations, but it wasn’t what I would call an over the top increase.

I live in deep blue California. The fireworks started **before** Memorial Day and culminated with last night's war zone display. My dog spent the night cowering.

They are illegal here, but that didn't stop anyone. I'm so sick of the selfish attitude of most of these idiots... with the fireworks and also with caring for others and not wearing masks or being socially distant. The attitude that "I'm going to do what I want" "I'm tired of staying at home" I'm tired of following the rules... people irritate me!
I thought our poor dog was going to have a heart attack yesterday - they started around 4pm and went until midnight.
They've been doing them all week ahead of the 4th too. I'd imagine they'll start up again tonight. I'm so worried because we haven't had rain in almost 3 weeks and it's been over 90 degrees... the grass actually crunches and sometimes breaks when you walk on it. This is a recipe for a fire.
DS is a firefighter/EMT. He's on duty right now... interested to hear how many "idiot" calls he gets tonight.

One of the neighbors in my town had fireworks hit their house @ 11:30 when they were all home. Someone came to their door and told them their house was on fire. They lost everything. Thankfully no one was hurt.

They are also illegal inside my city limits but that didn’t stop anyone last night. It was easily the noisiest 4th of July we’ve experienced here in five years. I was glad we don’t own a dog because my cats were freaked out enough.

It went on forever and ever here too. Our cat did ok but our dogs struggled as the night went on. They are wiped out today. I am just hoping that people used up what they had last night so we don't have another night of it tonight.
