I’m pleased to hear it. What a pity that she had to be so vile here. Like with many things, that's up to interpretation. Well, if she is a nice person, she clearly had a delivery problem since there's at least six, seven or so people here saying how unpleasant she was.

Thanks lainey , lizacreates , RedSquirrelUK and AussieMeg . I have no way of finding the thread short of trawling through all my thousands of posts I've ever made as I don't know who started the thread originally. FTR I also don't believe it was you, if any British poster here did say that, I'll bet my money it was dotty.Maybe you'd better be sure of your facts before you go round accusing someone of "eviscerating ", bullying or calling people names - try proving it!

I agree, if someone is going to make an accusation then it's on them to provide the receipts. It's pretty shitty to tell someone they eviscerated you and leave it at that.
If we're going to be held accountable for our words at least let us know where those words are.

There really is no point to even starting this thread It was meant to start a discussion on how we all felt about this place. What's the point of starting any thread in the grand scheme of things?

I might have strong opinions on a variety of subject and at times they will differ from what is being discussed. I will point out inaccuracies in a variety of posts where the information that is being shared is not true but I've never resorted to name calling or bullying and certainly have not eviscerated any member of this board or anywhere else for that matter.

I remember having a disagreement with you that stayed very civil despite going back and forth a bit. I quite enjoy an occasional spirited exchange.

Since you asked, gar , I have felt eviscerated by you when I have dared to criticize the British political system or monarchy. I criticized the nation and government; you criticized me. That's personal. zella ...which thread?? christine58 you have somehow mucked up the quoting function. Can you please fix up your quote a few posts up so it doesn't look like I was accusing Gar of criticising me. Thanks.

5. Opinions pushed as facts. It’s either or, they can’t be the same. Facts certainly go into forming one’s opinion, but I think other things also go into forming opinions as well. When facts are just that, facts. I mean I’m looking at the sky outside my place and it’s blue. That is a fact and not an opinion, the sky, at this moment, is blue. Ummmmmm......... www.google.com/amp/s/www.livescience.com/amp/21275-color-red-blue-scientists.html

Was Mrs. T a social studies teacher Yes the teacher, who referred to "the Down's kids" in her class the one who lied about her brothers in the military, but she didn't have any brothers and after several people challenged had to finally admit that she didn't have brothers turns out she meant her husband's brothers and that "is the same thing" the one who locked her own kid in his bedroom, and then he kicked the door for so long and so hard, the neighbors came over to complain. the one who posted hundreds of times during school hours...who knows what those kids learnt, but it sure wasn't anything from Mrs T the racist one who always sided with Lauren Oh yes, such a "kind" person Don't forget the "tossed salad" debate! She said America is more like a tossed salad than a melting pot, and when multiple peas told her the raunchy definition, and that middle school kids definitely knew what it meant, she doubled down and said everyone else was wrong, even Urban Dictionary.

Yes but, scientist now believe that what you see as ‘blue’ might not be what I see as ‘blue’ . We consistently see the same thing, and as taught will label it ‘blue’ but what you see and what I see and what another person sees might not be the same thing. While many peoples perception of what ‘blue’ is will be similar, some people’s perception of what blue is is very different. Which has nothing to do with why the sky is blue, it has to do with each persons eyes and brains see when the see what we label as ‘blue’ is most likely different. So what you see and label as blue may just also be akin to an opinion.

Well I’m sorry I came in at this point and had to Google tossed salad. I have no idea what the Tossed salad analogy is?? maybe she didn't either? since we both live in MN? it's not used here. I'm surprised you knew about it lucky?! off to look it up. I missed that thread. probably because it was political?

It was that America isn't a melting pot where all cultures melt together, it more like a tossed salad where each part keeps its individuality, but comes together to make something good. That's what she was teaching, and didn't believe the peas when people told her about the other, raunchy meaning of tossed salad. (Don't Google if you don't want to know!) She also said her middle school students had no idea of the other meaning.

And it is a fact that some people suffer from various forms of color blindness. But because these folks can’t see the sky as blue doesn’t mean that it isn’t blue most of the time as noted by NASA. If you want to go with the sky is blue, most of the time, as an opinion instead of a fact, that’s your choice. By the way. I didn’t deliberately put NASA’s explanation on why the sky is blue in blue or underline it. I put the link in before putting the explanation in and for some reason anything I type or paste after that is blue and underlined and I didn’t feel like messing with it this morning.

No longer care why the sky is blue since I just read the definition of tossed salad. Hmmm.
I also stumbled upon the word Maskhole and will now be using that for someone who won't wear a mask in a public place. So much learning today.

I don't think there is any debate over whether the sky is blue or not. The point is that the colour that one person sees as blue may be what other people see as green, grey, violet, or pink, but we're all calling it blue because we are taught that the colour of the sky is called blue. I remember having this conversation with my Mum when I was a little girl. She told me that nobody really knows, because nobody can tell what anyone else sees. But as we are all human and all have broadly similar anatomy, so it is likely that colours are not hugely dissimilar. She was a nurse before she married, so I thought she was probably right. 40-odd years on, and technology is obviously now advanced enough to say otherwise. I find all that completely fascinating.
