Giggle. Nope, not even close. No one has been "driven out." Nice try tho. You don't have to agree for it to be so. I watched it happen. Your gaslighting isn't going to change truth. Nor will your insistence that people have been driven out of Refupeas. It just didn't happen. If people chose to leave, it's on them, no matter how much you wish it were otherwise.

I can only speak for myself of course, but no, I don't think it's really that bad. I haven't felt the need to block anyone, and I haven't felt like I've wanted to leave. Took the words right out of my mouth. I’ve never felt the need to block anyone. I do not feel it is bad here at all.

I'm not talking about cursing like that. I'm talking about cursing AT each other. "I can't find my fucking keys!" Is not the same as "fuck you, you fucking bitch". I've gotten into some big rows with people, the nastiest being Lauren. I have never used, nor have I seen anyone use, "fuck you, you fucking bitch" or anything similar. People get heated and hostile, for sure. I have. But that level of rancor has either passed me by or simply isn't a thing here. I called Lauren a flaming bitch from hell.

But that level of rancor has either passed me by It must have! I've told Lauren to fuck off and called her a cunt on several occasions and I don't have the slightest regret about it. You should never have regrets about that! Since I binge watched 3 seasons of Succession in 2 weeks, I may end up saying "fuck off" because it is ingrained in my brain right now.

And I think I did take a break in there, but not a super long one. Same with Ozark - could not handle the continuous awful, but also could not stop watching it. Had to take some breaks.

Damn! I had no idea this was an old thread. I saw it pop up and read it not looking at the dates.
I was a pea way back when. It was heavily conservative. I was one of the first liberals who dared come out of the closet. I got band-wagoned on a regular basis. Then a few more liberals joined in being more vocal. It was around the Iraq War time. The conservatives messaged each other to come to the board if someone started going against their opinions. They didn't scare me, and I didn't back down.
As a result I made friends on the board. Women I have met in person and still consider friends today. That is the huge positive of social networks.
I have definitely mellowed as I have gotten older. I will argue and debate. I try and refrain from personal attacks. They really don't help.

But we watched at least one almost every night. It took us 3 episodes to realize that you aren't supposed to like anyone and there is no one to root for.

I've been here for a long long time and back then I sure felt that I was the only Jewish, bleeding heart liberal pea on the board.

The best I think I've ever seen--writing, acting, everything.

I stopped watching it because they all seemed like awful people. They ARE all awful people. I stayed for the satire...and the humor. I read an article this week somewhere, maybe Vulture, that talked about how Roman never sits conventionally on anything. He's always perched on the arm of a chair, or on the floor, etc. They offered stills for evidence. So I looked for this in the last episode, and was very disappointed that he sat in chairs like a normal person.
