My engagement ring was beautiful, an emerald with a diamond on each side in a vintage looking setting, we bought it at Liberty's in London, my favorite store in London. I loved it but the setting wasn't great.
The emerald fell out when I was out to dinner one night with my girl friends. We never found it. We got the insurance money for it. We were pretty broke at the time so we used the money to pay some bills and my ex H promised me a new bigger and better ring for our 10th anniversary. I think this was the official beginning of the end.
He planned nothing for our 10th anniversary, I had to remind him and he did take me out for dinner, I got him a watch, he said he was going to get me a new ring but when he went to look the store was closed. ( We lived in Grand Cayman where there are about 15 different jewelry stores) Even though I suggested we go look on a couple of other occasions we never did. Our anniversary was in March, in April he told me he wanted a divorce, in May I found out he was cheating and we were divorced in June.
He was supposed to pay me for the value of the ring in the divorce. He didn't. He still owes me money. I have our wedding bands they are very simple and were very inexpensive, they are both Celtic Knots, I think they are very pretty, I will probably have something done with them for our daughter one day.
After the divorce I did buy myself an expensive necklace (not nearly as much as an engagement ring but expensive for me) as a divorce present to myself.

I gave my set to my daughter, who has put it away for later. I also have the ex's band, and I wear that at times on my thumb. I'll eventually melt it down.
He literally had a fit when he learned I had his. Oh well, I bought all the rings, so they're mine.
