Now that Sec Treasury finally released the recipients of the PPP loans...that were intended to help struggling small businesses but large corporations/businesses gobbled up the loans in a matter of days.

And our newest candidate, Kanye:
Kanye West's Yeezy company received more than $2 million through the Paycheck Protection Program, the Small Business Administration disclosed on Monday (July 6).
Yeezy, an LLC formed by the musician and clothing designer, received a loan between $2 million and $5 million, according to the SBA. The company disclosed that it saved 160 jobs because of the program meant to help businesses struggling during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Passed in May, the PPP is meant to serve as a lifeline for small businesses battered by the pandemic in an effort to save jobs while employers are financially struggling. The loans are forgivable if businesses spend the funds on eligible costs, but the amount of forgiveness is reduced if a company reduces the headcount of full-time employees or cuts pay by more than 25 percent.
The Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program let most companies with 500 or fewer employees apply for loans to cover the cost of eight weeks of payroll. The PPP loans cover up to two and a half times the company's average monthly payroll costs, up to $10 million with a cap of $100,000 per employee. Sole-proprietorships, independent contractors and some self-employed workers were also eligible — and because contractors could apply on their own their payroll costs couldn't be included in the application from the company with which they work.

You can always remind those conservatives/republicans that they are getting government “entitlements” and hand outs in the hundreds of thousands to millions—-while they whine and complain that those on unemployment are “lazy” and just work the system.
Sounds to me like they worked the system to get loans first.
Whatever happened to their “pull them up by the bootstraps” and “hard work and applying themselves to get ahead?
For those sanctimonious few peas who cry about who they think are all poor Democrats/liberals getting welfare—I’d love to hear how they justify this! WHILE THE MAJORITY OF THE FUNDS HAS TO GO TOWARDS payroll , ip to 20% of the PPP FUNDS CAN GO to PAY OWNERS. In Elaine Chao’s family biz, wonder how many if her family members will get bonuses (you can give extra pay to workers with these funds).
Not to forget the cruise lines, casinos, airlines who also were awarded PPP funds who were also bailed out the year before pre-virus!!!
IOKIYR AM I RIGHT???
I think trumps businesses also received $$$$

Jeezus f#($#(*$ing Chreezus.
I know I shouldn't be surprised, but (#$*(#()#$U*#!
It would have been possible to set up parameters about who is and is not eligible to winnow out companies based on profits/payroll ratios (i.e., if your past years have shown a comfortable margin of profits well beyond your total payroll, you are LAST in line to get PPP).

Here we go...look at all the trump favored lobbyists who got funds....
WASHINGTON (AP) — Forty lobbyists with ties to President Donald Trump helped clients secure more than $10 billion in federal coronavirus aid, among them five former administration officials whose work potentially violates Trump’s own ethics policy, according to a report.
The lobbyists identified Monday by the watchdog group Public Citizen either worked in the Trump executive branch, served on his campaign, were part of the committee that raised money for inaugural festivities or were part of his presidential transition. Many are donors to Trump’s campaigns, and some are prolific fundraisers for his reelection.
They include Brian Ballard, who served on the transition, is the finance chair for the Republican National Committee and has bundled more than $1 million for Trump’s fundraising committees. He was hired in March by Laundrylux, a supplier of commercial laundry machines, after the Department of Homeland Security issued guidance that didn’t include laundromats as essential businesses that could stay open during the lockdown. A week later, the administration issued new guidance adding laundromats to the list.
Dave Urban, a Trump adviser and confidant, has collected more than $2.3 million in lobbying fees this year. The firm he leads, American Continental Group, represents 15 companies, including Walgreens and the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, on coronavirus issues.
Trump pledged to clamp down on Washington’s influence peddling with a “drain the swamp” campaign mantra. But during his administration, the lobbying industry has flourished, a trend that intensified once Congress passed more than $3.6 trillion in coronavirus stimulus.
While the money is intended as a lifeline to a nation whose economy has been upended by the pandemic, it also jump-started a familiar lobbying bonanza.
“The swamp is alive and well in Washington, D.C.,” said Mike Tanglis, one of the report’s authors. “These (lobbying) booms that these people are having, you can really attribute them to their connection to Trump.”
The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
Shortly after Trump took office, he issued an executive order prohibiting former administration officials from lobbying the agency or office where they were formerly employed, for a period of five years. Another section of the order forbids lobbying the administration by former political appointees for the remainder of Trump’s time in office.

An this woman got more than $20,000 Washington (CNN)A campaign ad for former Vice President Joe Biden featuring a small business owner has come under attack by the Trump campaign and conservative outlets and personalities for its alleged dishonesty. In the ad, the small business owner in Philadelphia says she had to furlough some of her staff and shut down one location of her eye wear stores because of the pandemic. "I had to permanently close one location and furlough my employees," business owner Tiffany Easley says in the ad, which posted on July 1. "But what's worse is that this President seemed to make everything else worse." Several conservative outlets including the Washington Free Beacon and Breitbart have criticized the ad for not mentioning that Easley received a Paycheck Protection Program forgivable loan of more than $20,000.As criticism grew on social media, hundreds of commenters attacked Easley, calling her derogatory names, threatening her business, accusing her of lying and more. Easley has previously spoken publicly about the government aid she has received, saying it was "absolutely" not enough to cover all of her costs. In the ad, Easley is vague about her criticisms of Trump's handling of the coronavirus. "Trump and his administration left the American people behind," she says in the ad. "The people that he is supposed to protect and serve. Small businesses -- they need a partner in the White House, and that's why I'm with Joe." In an interview with CNN, Easley said she never claimed she had received no loans or government aid. "I didn't hide it; it was never a secret," she said, noting that she had publicly disclosed the loan in several media interviews that appeared before the ad was posted.** more at link: www.cnn.com/2020/07/06/politics/right-wing-criticize-biden-ad-small-business-ppp-loan/index.html

Another view that I don’t necessarily disagree with...
Chris Hayes from MSNBC...
“My hot take is that PPP shaming is dumb, the program was designed to keep people employed and I'm happy to see high utilization if it preserved people's jobs!”
”My other hot take is that for all the (very considerable) problems with the federal economic rescue response, on the whole it's been much much better than I feared, which makes the impending expiration of so much of it such a disaster if not avoided“
&
Benjamin Wittes..
”I am with @chrislhayes on this. It’s a mugs game to note the organizations that are ideologically opposed to this sort of program that nonetheless get PPP loans. But the policy object is to keep people employed—even people who work for organizations that don’t believe in PPP.“
Isn’t the whole point to keep people working? Even people for the folks listed in the OP?

It's amazing to me that rich people can be given MILLIONS of dollars so quick for their huge businesses, but politicians hemmed and hawwed so long about granting a measly $1200 to some citizens, to last all the months.
And don't forget how the politicians thought that a whopping extra $600 a week unemployment would make us all welfare queens, living in the lap of luxury and unwilling to ever work again.

Is there a way to demand that those 'loans' are returned? Surely, there is one honest politician left in Washington that can spearhead an opposition? Edited to add: Were there any Democrats that received these 'loans'? Of course there were. I saw a list where the Ohio Democratic Party got at least $150,000 and the Florida Democratic Party Building Fund got at least $350,000

That right there is what I have an issue with. You’ve got big/larger corporations getting oodles of money (trump associates or not) but small businesses and people get none.

I have really mixed feelings on this and am not big on the shaming businesses for taking loans that they were eligible for and qualified for according to the program. I also acknowledge that the program was a shitshow and tiny businesses had an extremely hard time accessing funds. That's wrong, but it's also the fault of how the program was built, not the fault of the businesses who *did* receive loans.
Obviously, lists like that bring up A LOT of questions that need further investigation. But I'm not jumping in with the flaming pitchforks until we know more.

It was designed to keep people on the payroll.
A worthy goal.
BUT
Some people can stay on the payroll out of BIG COMPANIES' BIG PROFITS.
Some people can only stay on the payroll via government help - because those small businesses don't have the giant margins of profits to keep them on when revenues tank.
That is the KEY DIFFERENCE.
Should rich companies jump in line with or IN FRONT OF poorer companies (as measured by proft/payroll metrics)?!?!?
Or should rich companies be LAST in line to keep people on the payroll on GOVERNMENT FUNDS!?!!?

I don't understand why anyone with an IQ above 5 is surprised about this. Well, except for the deplorables who voted for and still support this criminal. That is who he is and what he does. He will never be stopped until he is dead. He consumes, drains and then destroys everything he touches and anyone with a pulse can see that. If he is not voted out in November this country is essentially finished. As it is it will take decades, or longer, to recover from this corruption.
My ire is with those who support him. I hope each and every one of those trumpers lives go down in flames. They are traitors to everything this country once stood for

It was voted on by the House and the Senate, then signed into law by the President. It may have been a shit show, but it belongs to both Democrats and Republicans. I think I'm with busy on this one -- it was hastily enacted and poorly executed. The intent was in the right place -- to help small companies keep their employees paid for a few months, but it was a total mess when it rolled out. I'm not sure that the terms of loan forgiveness have been detailed yet. Companies may yet have to pay back the loans, depending on what happens.
