We have noticed that and feel like this is a lull before the storm period again. I didn't anticipate how hard it would be to get pickup or delivery options last time, so we are back to building up our personal store shelves at home. Nothing perishable and nothing we don't consistently use. Want to take some of the pressure off getting groceries during the next boom period. I didn't want to leave others scrambling before, but I don't want to be the family left stressed again, so here goes. Accumulating what we can while we can. This is true for me too. We have a large household, so I buy extras when I see them, and often.

I bought 3 packs of Dettol (Lysol) wipes last week even though I don't normally use them. I'd been trying not to use wipes as they're so environmentally un-friendly but I'm sure we're going to be back in lockdown before too long so I grabbed them and they're there if I or friends need them. I also bought 2 large hand sanitisers and some rubbing alcohol (surgical spirit) and next job is to add a few extra packs of loo roll, pasta, sugar etc to my shopping list.

I feel like they might do local lockdowns, but a national one would be impossible, surely. I must admit, I've been trying to build a little cupboard full of essentials since lockdown began.. i used to always wait until we used the last one of something, but now I have a shelf full of soaps and cleaners, and we are well stocked for flour/pasta/rice. Until we started shopping every 2 weeks for online delivery, I never realised quite how much cheese we eat!

We are still low on stuff like Clorox wipes and cleaners. I use Borax in my laundry, but it’s definitely hit or miss with it being stocked. I did a big shop to restock food items last week and pretty much everything I was looking for was available and there were no limit signs posted.
One thing I had to go to 3 stores for the other day - printer ink. . There is a shortage in stores because so many people are working at home. I’m going to go online today and see if I can find a good deal for an extra cartridge or two. Good lesson for me to not wait until the last minute to buy.

Yes, you're probably right, I hope so...I've just had this feeling that the easing is happening too much too soon and that we're headed for a second wave. If it is just done regionally then we shouldn't get the huge shortages again but if we do - I'm prepared more this time

I'm trying so hard not be doom and gloom, gar, but I do think we are in for another wave, I just think they won't do a proper lockdown. Not that our first one was done properly, really, seeing as travellers weren't quarantined. Definitely agree with stocking up on things though. I just wish opticians would open because I desperately need an eye test so I can see!

My DD had her eyes tested a week or so ago, and has new glasses so some are open...is it your particular one who isn't? Can you go elsewhere in the meantime? Agreed - lockdown could have been much more effective if it had been done differently. Fingers crossed lessons have been learned.

Yep, the second wave of COVID has hit my state, and the things that were in short supply last time are again - toilet paper, hand soap, sugar, flour, pasta. Somebody told me last night that a couple of supermarkets near us have had to close (major chain supermarkets) due to being unable to get restocked. And then I heard this morning on the radio that a lot of supermarkets are running out of fruit and veg. Meat will be next. (((HUGS))) Are you well stocked? At 3pm today the announcement was made that we are back in lockdown for 6 weeks, from midnight Wednesday. So after picking up my car from the mechanic, I went straight to the supermarket, along with every other person in Melbourne hahaha! All of the things I mentioned above were available surprisingly. They were completely out of potatoes, bananas, and the good quality mince (ground beef), some chicken and pork products and there were hardly any apples. Milk was running low. But plenty of pasta, flour, sugar, and even yeast for the first time in months. I spent over $300 so I am pretty well stock, thanks.

I think that as covid-19 spreads around the country people are getting nervous again. So far my state, Virginia, is holding steady but I expect the other shoe to drop on that at some point. I mean, there's no magic barrier at the border so... I have stuff all over the house (small house), so I need to consolidate and see what we have. My ds doesn't live here anymore so I might turn his closet into the Covid Closet that someone mentioned above. I am NOT going to get caught short like I did the last time.

It’s actually rather surprising to read some of the comments that are wishing he would stay away due to the virus since we have a lot of his fans here. New Hampshire has done a pretty effective job of keeping Covid under control even with some of the morons that feel every right as an American was taken away when they were asked to wear a mask. 🙄 So, we shall see in a couple of weeks where we are because tourists have also started coming back from other states to the White Mountains and beaches. I have a feeling we are neck deep in this again by August.

We have yet to see Lysol kitchen cleaner, hand soap, hand sanitizer, yeast, or napkins over here at the commissary. I can find some of that on the economy, but don't know French chemistry words well enough to buy cleaners. The Belgians seem to embrace their chemistry and I'm just not sure what is actually safe (and non-carcenogenic) to use.
I did get everything but hand sanitizer before we began the lockdown, but haven't found it since. Flour goes out the commissary as soon as it comes in, but I do still have an unopened bag. But I'm running low on kitchen cleaner just for everyday use. I'm going in an hour and am hoping to find cleaner and hand soap. They restock on Monday and aren't open Mondays, so hopefully if it comes in, I'll find some!

The last package I bought not only had select a size sheets, but each individual sheet was also perforated down the middle to make two individual small squares. You would REALLY love those lol!

My kids were making fun of the 13.5 lb bag of baking soda (from Costco), I bought recently. If the world comes to an end, I will have clean bathroom sinks, tubs and sparkly clean kitchen sink... Mind blown that there even is such a thing. It’s used for pools, far cheaper than same thing sold at pool stores.

I have a Covid closet in one of our guest rooms. I just buy an extra of something when I see it. My husband keeps trying to use the stuff in there. Men. I tell him we'll break out the TP when there is a vaccine. My kids were making fun of the 13.5 lb bag of baking soda (from Costco), I bought recently. If the world comes to an end, I will have clean bathroom sinks, tubs and sparkly clean kitchen sink... Actually, that was a genius purchase! I would not have thought to even look for that.

I'm starting to notice the alleged pork shortage, in that my preferred brand of deli ham hasn't been in stock for weeks. (Although SO tells me that the producers apparently have no difficulty meeting the demand for exports...) TP is in stock, but the only paper towels I can find are those damn select a size sheets. Hate them. No lysol wipes or spray, but hand sanitizer has reappeared. And I should never doubt elaine ; this was the first week that I couldn't get caffeine free diet coke. LOL! You can’t say that I didn’t sound the alarm on this one. Dh found 4 12-packs in a grocery store in a small town in WV on Saturday and snagged them for me. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when they are gone because the mini-bottles are gone here too. I originally stocked up on paper products in February and am now getting to the bottom of what I have. Just in time for wave of shortages number 2. Yay. I’ll be looking for paper towels and toilet paper this week.

I've been stocking up on rice because my family suddenly decided they like it now that we are cooking at home. Honestly, I cannot believe how much we go through now! I found a 20 lb bag of Mahatma jasmine rice for $16 at Kroger last week and bought it. My DDs have the task of breaking it down into 2-cup vacuum-sealed packages to put in our quarantine stocks. I still have several small bags that we will be using in the immediate future, but this big bag is for the coming COVIDopolis.
I have been picking up a hand sanitizer or two when I see it for a good price. There is an abundant supply around here, but it seems overpriced compared to before COVID. Aldi has Germ-x for 2.29 for 8 ounces. The limit is one, so I get one every time I am there, and they always seem to have it.
I have also scored Clorox wipes a couple of times at Sam's. I have been very stingy with their use in the house since I can clean with other things, but I keep a container in each car for when we shop.
Food is well-stocked. DH took advantage of all this time at home to re-build shelves in our basement, and the "larder" is now well-organized so we know exactly what we need. We have gone through most of the pasta I had stocked before March, so I have been grabbing a package at Sam's every once in a while to restock. I also noticed that we only have a few jars of pasta sauce left. I usually use one of those per week, and I didn't notice we were low when Kroger had Ragu on sale a few weeks ago. I only use it as a base to add other ingredients to, so I am okay with store brand and will probably pick up some Kroger or Aldi sauce this week.

I haven't seen Clorox wipes or may favorite Clorox cleaner with bleach in months. I am going to make more of an effort to stock up when I see it. I have also bought a few extra packs of toilet paper when I see it, which is not often. I am also on the hunt for bread flour, and if I ever see that again, I'm going to buy a few bags.
I am worried about things selling out again as the cases ramp up, though they aren't bad in my area yet.

I have gotten all my TP, paper towels, and Lysol and Lysol wipes via amazon. I don’t know what our school situation will be so I have been getting wipes when I can. I was able to get them on amazon pantry the other day when I had insomnia and was awake at 3:30am!
We need to do a meat inventory and then start getting things as needed slowly. We are good on TP but I told DH I was going to get some Since we started going to the grocery store every other week.

You would think it would be a huge bag, but it's very compact... maybe the size of a box of laundry detergent. I was ordering from Costco and had to spend enough to get free shipping... I want to say it was $8 for the bag but I can't look it up because their website won't load.

I've seen most everything you're all mentioning in Boise, Idaho. I got a 5-pack of Clorox wipes, TP, and paper towels at Costco last week. It seems I end up being at the right place at the right time because others go after I tell them Costco is stocked and they're already out. My son and DIL and my parents and inlaws have all been looking for Clorox wipes. I always see them (one brand or another) so I buy my limit so I can pass them on. I don't use hand sanitizer but I see it everywhere - weird brands I've never heard of, but it's there. I buy a pack of TP about every other week just to keep our supply up. I had a good stock of TP before panic hit (I always have a big Costco pack upstairs and downstairs), but I gave a lot of our stock away to people who couldn't find it. Last SIP I was shopping for both of our parents and when there's a limit of one on these products, who gets it?? I usually gave what I found to our parents. I'll be prepared this time so I'm not worried about how much I give away. I should probably start getting a box of pasta & sauce here and there. I don't want too much meat because no matter how much I wrap it, it still freezer burns after a month or so.

I’ve noticed some things haven’t been in stock regularly since March. For example, target only has a few bottles of hand soap at a time. No sanitizer, etc. There are even some good aisles that I have noticed shortages. A few weeks ago sams didn’t have many of the meat products I wanted.

Stuff has been hit or miss here since this all began. I have quietly plugged along and stalked online for supplies and also look on the rare times I go in the store. I think it is going to hit the fan here in the late summer in to fall. Then add in the election, bad weather, and a family member having surgery. I decided to stock up on all non food things to last through the end of the year easily so we can avoid the hassle and keep her safe during her long recovery. I kind of broke my shopping in to categories and I’m buying for 2 households. Other than food, both households have about everything we need to carry us through with a cushion and even have our preferred brands. Includes cleaning, cooking stuff like ziplocks and foil, paper products, household items, hygiene items, meds, laundry. I’d like more acetaminophen and Clorox wipes and Lysol spray but can make do if we have to. It is a relief to have it done now. I work nights so that helps with my shopping, things pop up at odd times. The only thing I’ve overstocked is hand sanitizer. Germ-x has gotten way too much of my money on amazon at 5am. This week I have sent 6 packs to 5 different family members and friends. I’ve donated several bottles as well. I am done buying sanitizer.
