I can't wrap my head around that the mother was a nurse and the father was a physician assistant and they could be so horrifically ignorant. I can. My mother told me 2 weeks ago that at her regular checkup with her GP, the doctor told her the cases of COVID would start going down now that summer was here. That the heat and sunshine would kill the germs. When I asked her to please explain why there were cases of COVID in Australia during our winter but their summer, she got very quiet. I suggested she find a better doctor. Last night there were comments on a friend’s Facebook post that said that masks don’t help reduce the spread of the virus (with the woman using the fact that she has two doctors in the family as proof for that and to “dispel the myth”). I also was talking with the mom of one of my sons teammates last night. She is a medical provider as well (not sure if she is a PA or nurse but can provide meds and is a primary provider). She was saying that the virus wasn’t a big deal, things would be back to normal this fall, and they need to stop the extra unemployment because such a high number of people are refusing to go back to work (is there actually proof for that?). She is a trump supporter and once brought up Obama not producing his birth certificate, so I wasn’t too shocked with what she was saying. But coming from a medical provider, it is concerning.

I saw a doctor on TV yesterday who said they are finding permanent lung damage when they X-ray people who had “asymptomatic” cases, i.e., no noticeable symptoms, but they still have scarring in their lungs. Multiple people. I don’t think we know half of what we’re going to know about this disease before we’re done. People are freakin’ idiots. Merge, thanks for posting that rant from the pediatrician. She is awesome! But this story just breaks my heart. I hope those parents suffer from nightmares every night for the rest of their sorry lives. I agree. I listened to an episode of The Daily podcast the other day and the expert was describing the virus as vascular, not just respiratory as we have been hearing. So there are people who may present with other symptoms including stroke but in reality they also have Covid. That is why they are seeing so many strange symptoms like Covid toes, rash, etc (and probably that 4 hour long erection).

Wow. Just wow. I have no words for this. So sad and most likely preventable by following safety and medical precautions.

I’m not seeing anything that says this was a party to specifically spread Covid. Are there other articles?

My sister just told me about her friend who just tested positive for COVID. He was asymptomatic except for loss of taste and smell. Anyway, the doctor told him that he could go to work and didn't need to quarantine since there was no telling when he got it. What?? It doesn't matter when he got it! He was positive and shouldn't have been able to go back to work (and should have been quarantined) until he was negative. And, yes, he went back to work. This happened in Texas. Could her friend have tested positive for antibodies? That test shows that you've developed antibodies to COVID and had it at some time in the past It's different from the viral load test, which shows that you are currently carrying the virus. That would make more sense in terms of the doctor recommending no quarantine. But who knows, I definitely know some dumbass doctors. This whole story, OP, is incredibly sad and maddening. My sister said that he had the nasal swab test come back positive. I thought that only tested for actively carrying the virus not for antibodies but I could be wrong.

I’m not seeing anything that says this was a party to specifically spread Covid. Are there other articles? I think it was presented more as a “we’re done isolating/socially distancing/ let’s reopen” party. But the party info was later taken down from the church website/Facebook.

I’ll have to see if I can locate it.
