Do you think this will cause an uproar?
Black dem mayor cancels state GOP convention.......
Mayor says this is no safer than the Houston livestock show and Rodeo (a big deal) and he canceled rodeo, so he is cancelling the convention.
Wise thing, IMO.

Smart idea if you ask me. But no, they wont like it. I am also glad they shut down the state fair.

The governor, lt. governor and other top republicans weren’t even going...they were doing there speeches by video. So they better not whine about it. Hey—but good news—school is still scheduled to open on time!

I’m glad, and yes, he will take heat for it. But it was still the right call. Texas GOP says they’re pursuing legal remedies.

They should hold it and all attendees have to sign a waiver that says they will not sue the state if they get sick, but that they will hold the Texas GOP responsible.

They should hold it and all attendees have to sign a waiver that says they will not sue the state if they get sick, but that they will hold the Texas GOP responsible. And who’s responsible for the low wage conference center, hotel and restaurant workers who get sick? And for the Texas Medical Center staff who are even more overwhelmed and at risk as a result? Certainly not the GOP! If the risk could somehow be contained to the Republican idiots who show up, I’d tell them to go for it.
