How awful. Thank God her son was found safe. I just read her instagram post from 7/3, about how tomorrow isn't promised. Just tragic.

How did the 4 year old get back on the boat? How terrified he must have been.

So incredibly tragic How did the 4 year old get back on the boat? How terrified he must have been. That is what I am wondering! Wow, this is so sad TMZ, which isn’t my favorite, mentioned her son said she jumped in the water and never came back up. Seems plausible if he was waiting on the boat for her

Granted, I didn't read the article quoted above since i had just finished reading the CNN one. Their wording made it sound like they were both in the water, he got out but she didn't.

How did the 4 year old get back on the boat? How terrified he must have been. The reports I've read said he told police when they found him that his Mom had jumped into the lake and never came back.up. It sounds as if the lake needs caution when swimming. The cool temperatures, large waves and rip currents can beat even the strongest swimmer of energy according to some reports. Strong winds also often whip up waves that can rock a small boat enough to tip an unsteady fisherman into the water. I wonder if she actually fell in rather than jump in. It would be difficult for a 4 year old to distinguish the difference. What an awful tragedy

How did the 4 year old get back on the boat? How terrified he must have been. I’m curious as well. They just talked about this on the Today show and reported that the child said that they had been swimming and he got back on the boat but she didn’t. Was the life jacket in the boat hers and she took it off? I’m not a boater...would going swimming off of a boat with a 4 year old and no other adults be something that people would do regularly? It doesn’t seem very safe to me but maybe people do it all the time?

OMG how awful! Oh, that poor little boy, wow.
That lake is so big, it's really a reservoir on the outskirts of LA. Ugh, so sad for her family.
WTH with this cast, terrible! It does feel like a curse.

If the plan was to swim, then a second adult (or teen that could swim) would come with us. One person (that could drive the boat or get help, if necessary) says in the boat.

Anyone who has been even remotely around boats would know that leaving a small child on a boat while you take a dip is a huge NO. I'm always amazed at how stupid people are around water. I've spent my life around big inland lakes, specifically Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Respect the water. Even small inland lakes. Hell, even swimming pools. Respect the water.

How sad for her child. I’m sure they were just enjoying a lovely day together and this happened. At least he had the wherewithal to stay in the boat or climb back in, whichever.

It had to be something pretty big that would force a mother to leave her young child like that.

She rented the boat, m she just wasn’t experienced with boating. I’ve been on the water alone with my daughter, but we both wear life vests and would never think of swimming. Even then I’ve been nervous the entire time.

Oh no. I love her character on Glee, warts and all. Her poor son!
They kept it pretty well hidden while in production, but some of the stuff coming out about the cast and the set of that show is messed up! Isn't this death #3?

We’re a longtime boating family. I would never take a boat out alone w/ a four year old, much less leave a four year old on a boat by himself for even a few seconds. It would be impossible to operate a boat and watch a four year old at the same time. Boats are harder to operate than cars and kids aren’t strapped in like they are in cars.
I’m so sorry this happened. That poor boy.

yes- overdose, suicide, and this wasn't the actor who comitted sucide the pedo? <shudder> Yes - he committed suicide just before he was supposed to be sentenced.
