Scientology does not believe or condone in traditional medicine. My gut tells me she may have been “treated” at a cancer center but I wouldn’t be surprised if her “treatments” were vitamins. Travolta will never leave Scientology. They have too much dirt on him. MD Anderson is one of the best in the nation. No way they would give her “vitamins”

May she rest in peace. And how sad for her family.

She had metastatic breast cancer; invasive cancer.

This is just so sad. I'm sure Jet was waiting for her.

She was being treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas according to his post. It doesn't look like a Scientology based facility. It's part of the University of Texas system. I would assume the cancer was advanced when they caught it. It doesn’t mean she had traditional medicine.

oh my gosh this breaks my heart to hear!
One of my fondest memories of my grandmother involved them. I had taken my grandmother out to lunch at a hotel on the beach in my hometown. We were eating and this gorgeous couple strolled past us as they walked by the pool. I gasped, "omg that's John Travolta!". This was in maybe 1990? 91? I can't recall. But she had this head of tumbly blonde curls and he was well, John Travolta. I remember thinking I didn't know he was even dating anyone, but they were holding hands and smiling and looked happy. <ed to add it was the Mandalay in Oxnard>
My grandmother looked at me and said "quien es?" (who is that?) because I was obviously excited to see him. I tried to tell her "John Travolta gramma!" and she just shook her head and I said 'he's a famous actor, like...like, Frank Sintara" and she looked at him and said 'oh yes, guapo!' And she remarked how pretty Kelly was too. Then we laughed and had the best conversation about all her favorite movie idols back in the day.
It was a lovely day, and a great memory I cherish. John and Kelly are part of that story for me and I followed them all these years. How very very sad and tragic not only for John but his poor daughter who has now lost her brother tragically and now her mommy. How heartbreaking.

I was so surprised and saddened by this news. Kelly rented the house directly across from our family home in Santa Monica when I was younger (I think when she first started dating John Travolta). We had a daschund that routinely used to escape and on at least one occasion she was kind enough to catch him and bring him to our front door. She seemed really sweet. I love the comment above about Jet waiting for her. I hope the faith that they are reunited is a comfort to those who loved her.

I would assume the cancer was advanced when they caught it. It doesn’t mean she had traditional medicine. Then she never would’ve went to MD Anderson. They don’t specialize in Scientology treatments. I guess I’m confused why so many people doubt she had real treatment when she was clearly a patient at one of the most prestigious cancer centers in the United States. Their job is to treat cancer. Period. Celebrity status doesn’t pay for clinical trials, special treatments, or the “vitamin” treatment. It just afforded her the opportunity to get to a cancer center many people can’t afford to travel to. I know people are trying to discredit the quackery that is Scientology, but you’re just discrediting the job those amazing doctors do. If God forbid her child had cancer, would you say St. Jude gave the child “vitamins?” MD Anderson is a real, accredited medical facility that brings in millions for cancer research and treatment. She didn’t get yoga and medication. She was clearly wearing a wig and swollen in her last photos; they treated her with real medicine and probably very aggressive medicine at that. Off my soap box. I just can’t stand to people tear down what these facilities do. And they do some pretty damn amazing things a lot of local hospitals can’t.

I don’t believe she was receiving treatment for cancer there. The statement from Travolta said “My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped”. He does say anything about treatment and Scientology doesn’t/wouldn’t approve of it. This was just a carefully worded statement by Scientology.

MD Anderson is one of the best in the nation. No way they would give her “vitamins” You don't know that. In a past job I worked with oncology patients, we had one oncologist who did not believe in alternative/herbal/holistic medicine herself, but she did take on patients who did. She allowed them to to pursue some of those treatments along with conventional cancer treatments. We would have patients who got mega doses of IV Vit C for example. It never changed anything and didn't do anything for their cancer, but most of the time it made them feel better to try and the oncologist felt that was a part of her job to allow them to have those treatments as well. It could well be that she was treated in a traditional medical setting and with a sympathetic doctor may have pursued non conventional therapies. Although as I mentioned above it seems fairly clear she is wearing a wig in some of her instagram photos, which suggests to me she had some sort of chemotherapy atsome stage. Or she may have also just gone there for palliative care at the end, pain management etc.

As she is a Scientologist, I question whether she let things go too long before getting more conventional treatment.
