ny.eater.com/2020/7/1/21310249/against-dining-out-bars-coronavirus-nyc-restaurantsCan we discuss? Are you eating indoors in restaurants these days? Here in Illinois, when we entered Phase 4 a few weeks ago, restaurants were able to begin serving indoors. But I still don't feel particularly safe doing so and while we continue to get take-out meals occasionally, my family has not dined indoors in a restaurant since March. I miss it, because I love food and new adventures, but it doesn't seem like a rational choice at this time. What are your thoughts? Are you eating at restaurants indoors? Where do you live?

We have eaten out indoors a couple of times since our restrictions have been relaxed a bit. Here, restaurants are restricted in how many people they can have inside, all servers wear masks, and diners have to wear masks when not seated at a table. You also have to leave contact details for at least one person on the table, in case contact tracing is needed. We prefer to eat on a terrace or similar if that’s possible still - the same restrictions apply there as inside , but I feel a bit better in the open air.
I am in Munich, Germany and our cases are much, much lower than current US figures. We are seeing between 200 and 300/day for the whole country for the past few weeks.

No. I'm not sure when, if ever, I'll feel comfortable eating inside a restaurant again. Carry out works just fine for us.
I live near Pittsburgh which experienced a huge spike from reopening indoor seating in restaurants and bars. Our current numbers are higher than the numbers in March and April and the county shut down both indoor and outdoor seating 2 weeks ago when contact tracing showed almost all of the new cases were coming from bars, restaurants and people returning from beach vacations. They reopened outdoor seating on Friday. At the beginning of June when our cases were near 0, I went out with friends to a restaurant's outdoor patio. I spent the next 10 days anxious that I was going to get covid and spread it to my family. It's just not worth it to me, there was nothing so enjoyable about that experience to justify the resultant anxiety.

No way! We do get takeout sometimes, and once we've taken the food to a nearby park. But that's as much eating "out" that we'll do.

No, I'm not eating out (indoors). I have been to two restaurants and eaten outside but I'm not comfortable with that right now because our numbers are going back up. We will just eat at home for now.

No.
We are in phase two, so restaurants here can have limited indoor seating, but we are not going (we wouldn’t anyway, but the table size limitations also are smaller than our family size :/).

No, nothing is open for inside dining, just patios so far.
Our province is going to announce stage 3 reopening details today which will include eating inside. Even once it is allowed I won't be rushing to do it. We have ordered local takeout every week since early April but have only dined out on a patio once.
Locally, We have 0.4% positivity in the community rate and masks are mandatory for any indoor space so the risk is low but I'm still good with takeout.
Our whole country only had 281 new cases as of yesterday. I can't imagine dealing with some of the numbers some of your states are.

No, I wouldn't, even though it is possible here. I've been reading more about how Covid-19 spreads indoors and outdoors and have decided it's not worth it. It's summer, I would have a meal at a restaurant outside (distanced) and we have meals from our favorite restaurants delivered but we'll avoid indoors for now.

No, not in England. I did read something really sad and frustrating by restaurant owner this morning - that something like 27 people who had booked a table hadn't shown up on Saturday evening What were those people thinking?! If I was him I would be putting their names in a book and if they tried to book again they would need to pay 'in full'/ a hefty deposit in advance. Imagine how much difference that made to his taking that night Sorry for the hi-jack.

Nope not indoors or outdoors.
We do take out and I move all the food to my own plates immediately and probably wash my hands 3 times while doing it, lol.

No. Having spent months trying to get back to feeling my normal level of health, it’s absolutely not worth it to me.

It isn't an option where I live. Patios are opened at reduced capacity and there is take out. We do take-out once a week.

There, they had a limit of 10 people in restaurants, and in some cases, the whole 10 didn't show (one or more bookings). A number of places were requiring a per person deposit on credit card before taking reservations after that.

I thought I would be, but not a chance, nope. I love eating out and am so bored with my own cooking, but still nope. We’ve had takeout a few times but it’s not the same as the restaurant "experience".

We have most restrictions lifted but I have not eaten in a restaurant but one time since this began. We went at lunch and there was only one other couple in the entire mexican restaurant. I told my husband it felt like we were doing something illegal.

Such a terrible thing to do in today's economic environment - many restaurants are struggling to survive yet now they have wasted prepared food, had to pay staff they didn't need etc *shaking my head*

Yes. Did so night before last, actually. We take all the precautions - masks, sanitizing wipes, distancing and feel quite safe enough.

Nope. I wouldn't eat inside, or outside, at a restaurant right now. Just not comfortable. During this whole time I've gotten Starbucks 3-4 times, but that's it. But with cases on the rise, even that makes me not comfortable.
It'll be a long time before I eat out again.

We have, 3 times. I don't eat out a ton though so I don't miss it much. Once for our anniversary, once for MIL's bday, and we went and had breakfast Saturday.

No, we do carry out only. No indoor or outdoor eating. We are in Ohio and people act like this has all passed and business as usual. Our numbers obviously don’t support that but who cares about data, ha.
Our closest to normal pre-virus dining has been going to a root beer stand where they have carhops who bring food to your car. Even they updated for now, no trays, all disposable products, throw your own trash away, single use menus, and the carhops wear masks. I still hand sanitized a ton and felt like I was doing something risky. Went once, would maybe go again.

I have done both. We have done outdoor several times and indoor once. We felt fine with eating indoors and there were only one or two other tables in a fairly large restaurant. We aren't making that our preference but it was really freakin hot outside and the a/c felt good. Every time anyone came by with either our food or to take our order, we would put on our masks. While I am fine doing takeout, I am kind of sick of only being able to get food that won't go cold and taste bleh by the time we get it home. As for outdoor, we have no problem doing that.

Nope. Restaurants are at 50% capacity here but I feel no need to dine in now. We miss it, but I’m a good cook, so we’re just having fun cooking together and planning foods we all love.
We do have take out about once a week.

I’ve been to a restaurant twice recently and eaten outdoors, but have not dined in anywhere since some time in March. We have done takeout once a week. Otherwise, we’re just happily cooking and eating at home.
