No we are not. Don't need restaurant food that bad. Carryout only. And only sometimes.

We ate indoors at a restaurant last week for the first time since early March. It was an off peak time and there were very few people in the restaurant. They sat us far apart. Everyone had masks on while at the table and all the employees did as well. They sprayed our hands with sanitizer before we were seated. No condiments on the table, only single serve ones on request. Menus were single use. I was impressed with how they handled everything but still felt uncomfortable and won't be eating out again for a long time. I'm in Texas but it was in an area with a relatively low number of cases.

Missouri here, and our county is 100% open, but no, I have not eaten at a restaurant since early March. I've contemplated eating on a patio a few times, but its been so hot here and I don't do well in the heat. My DD just returned to her job as a server this past weekend. "I'm going back to my job at a restaurant and we don't even eat in restaurants anymore!" She wears a mask when serving but I know her and her friend had a meal there after their shifts on Saturday.
I also skipped a very large graduation party for a member of my family yesterday, but I don't even trust all of my family members much less the mob of other people that were there.

In Illinois. We have eaten under a tent once and in a restaurant once in Illinois. Once on a patio in Indiana and once in a restaurant. I felt social distancing was done well in both instances and wait staff were wearing masks.

We just recently opened indoor dining in MA, but I have yet to even do outdoor. It just wouldn't be worth the anxiety to me. Honestly, we haven't even done any take-out, because while I am comfortable with that, my DH isn't. We've been happy spending more at the grocery store and buying and trying new things. For me, it's not about the food but the going out, so it hasn't bothered me at all.

No - I haven’t eaten at a restaurant (indoors or outside) since March. Before Covid we ate out several times a week - now we get takeout every two weeks or so. I live in Missouri.

We have twice--the first was after a day at the local amusement/water park so it didn't seem odd to be eating in a restaurant because we've done the two on the same day so many times. We also ate out for DH's birthday on Friday night.

No, thank you.
But today is National French Fry Day, so I’m sending my husband to the Portillo’s drive-through ‘cause I want to support potatoes.
I might also throw some support at Italian beef sandwiches.

Here’s the thing: more and more we are learning that you are far less likely to get COVID from touching things. Surface transmission is far more likely when something has been used recently, particularly near your mouth. So your chance of contracting it from a menu or table is slim, and even slimmer if you dine outside. Your server’s chance of contracting it, on the other hand, is much higher. They are clearing your dishes and talking to you, while you are unmasked. (Because, of course, you’re eating. How can you mask?) It doesn’t matter how much they wipe the table down, what matters is that a week ago someone who came in had COVID, but wasn’t showing symptoms yet. Now your server has it, but they’re not showing symptoms yet, either. And they’ve sat and discussed the specials with you, and then they carry out your plate, and set it on the table, and you pull it a little closer, and you start eating, and you’re all breathing that lovely, recirculating air. Especially the employees, who are going to be doing it all again tomorrow with a new batch of customers. Taking a temperature before every shift *seems* like a good idea, but also not really. Because not everyone has a fever as a symptom... one country (Japan? Korea? Somewhere like that.) reported something like only 30% of people with COVID have one. All true, BUT the servers are masked, and they are maintaining a good 4-6 foot distance from the table. We usually have masks on until eating. I totally agree with the temp taking, and such. I don't think that's a good indicator at all. We try out best to be safe. But I could basically get exposed anywhere, unless I just stay at home, and I can't.

No way! We do get takeout sometimes, and once we've taken the food to a nearby park. But that's as much eating "out" that we'll do. Same thing here, with the added exception of one time getting food from a favorite lunch place and eating it at one of their patio tables where no one else was.

Yes, I have been eating inside. IHOP, Chilis and a local eatery. The places I have been inside of had every other table blocked off.

The last time I ate in a restaurant was the first weekend in March. I don't see it happening again for a long time.
My husband picks up take out for dinner on the occasional evenings I haven't felt well enough to cook (recovering from surgery this past weekend for example) and he has come home very stressed out the last couple of times because very few people were masked and the restaurant pick up areas were crowded. So I think our take out experiences are about to be cut way back.
Whenever I miss eating out, I go read r/TalesfromYourServer at Reddit...there are a lot of upset and stressed waitstaff out there with bad customers and bad managers/owners. Restaurants are the opposite of safe now.

We were. It was so nice to do something normal and not live like a caged animal for a minute. But my county stopped dining-in, now you can only dine outdoors. So we're back to mostly take away until/unless dining-in reopens.

I took my kids to Panera for lunch. It was quiet and we sat away from others.
I didn’t really plan it, it was really hot out!

Our area has permitted outdoor dining for three weeks and indoor started last week.
I prefer takeout, even going as far as saying contactless curbside.
I've waited four months to eat at a restaurant, I can wait longer.

We've eaten out twice, both at the same restaurant that had sidewalk seating where we sat on the sidewalk. We did this mostly to support a local small business. We also buy groceries regularly (eggs, onions, and the most amazing bacon) from a local restaurant that we've patronized since it opened 25+ years ago, and where my son worked last summer/winter break.
Other than those two examples, no.
Now, per today, all dine-in restaurants are closed. Take-out only. I really feel for restaurants, especially non-chain, local restaurants.

We live in the Pittsburgh area. Our county has closed indoor dining at restaurants but currently allows outdoor dining.
However, we go to neighboring counties for our trail walks and will dine out there where they have indoor dining options.
We also both work public facing in a restaurant. His county is still open for dining while mine only has patio dining and curbside.

I'm genuinely curious why some won't do indoor dining (when allowed)? Is it because of the re-circulated air with the AC system? Wouldn't you have the same thing at the grocery store (assuming you are doing in-person shopping)? This is also assuming 6 ft. distancing inside and staff acting accordingly.

For me, it boils down to amount of exposure and length of exposure. Yes, indoor is indoor. Grocery store I am masked and everyone else is, our county requires it and the big stores are the few places adhering to it. So, less exposure than folks sitting in a restaurant with masks on and off and talking, laughing for long periods, while my mask is off and on as well. Length of that exposure is also less in the grocery store, I am in and out for whatever I couldn’t get for pick up.

Restaurants are the opposite of safe now. You could always have it delivered if you get a craving for something specific. That's what we've been doing, although we're trying to stick with places that have their own staff do the delivering... I read about how the companies such as Uber Eats and the other delivery ones are taking so much money from the restaurants, so we decided to try not to use them. We have a few favorites that do their own delivery. I'm still pretty paranoid so I bring the bag in from the porch, take the containers out carefully and dump the food into one of our bowls, then wash my hands before I touch anything else.
