Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.............. Interesting. So Lara is alleging that cardmaker Cassie DID forward her the emails. Now that her name is out there, and she has responded personally, both on her insta and on video 2--show the headers on the emails.

I honestly have more of a problem with the inflated ego of Zoe after experiencing it first hand. She wields her power as an admin of the THA FB group like a weapon... I do believe her alleged behavior...and Marios for that matter....The jury is still out on Tim....

I see very little (if any) verifiable evidence here on either side. There's a lot of he said/she said, and screenshots, which aren't proof of anything. I am reserving my opinion until all the facts are in. That might never happen, but I hope so.

So was the message about removing Zoe from the admin role real? Has that happened? It seemed like a really fast throwing of Zoe under the bus if she hadn't done anything wrong.

I think we may never know all the facts. But, I sure would love to. I’m a big fan of a lot of Tim’s products (inks, stencils) and I have several of Lara’s snarky stamp sets. I abandoned Lara months ago over the bullying, downright meanness and targeting of people using products from AliExpress. Queenpreneur’s video is speaking volumes to me right now. I’m definitely not convicted enough to stop buying Tim products. There’s details that I’m not 100% ok with, but Lordy, there’s plenty of details in my life I’m not 100% ok with either.
I’ll also be following this board way too closely!

I was under the impression the card in question was made by queenpreneur? Isn't queenpreneur's name Rachel? Personally I think it's very telling that key players in the industry are speaking up in favor of Tim. Prior to this I appreciated what Tim brought to the industry but I was in no way a fangirl. I have met him a handful of times. My impression is that he's cheeky and sarcastic and it is very apparent this is his business and he is very professional. He has always been incredibly generous of both his time and talent. I can also see where some people may not "get" or appreciate his personality/humor.

I’ve heard of her stamps before but I am not familiar with her. I’ve tried to sort thru what is going on but honestly there are so many layers I don’t think I have it all straight. What I will say is that she seems a little off, her story seems all over the place. One thing that stands out is the fact she is now saying she just found out the card was pulled by the maker but in her tea stories on ig she says she knows it also and I believe it was from like 5 weeks ago. I am just making an assumption but it seems like something bigger may be going on with her personally.

Okay, chiming in again. Tim is definitely snarky/sarcastic and I’ve personally seen him say horrible things about the health and size of women in his classes. When I mentioned he should be careful what he says because you never know who is listening he said “who cares! I’m Tim Holtz!” I was in legit shock because it didn’t sound snarky at all, it was downright mean. That being said, in light of new info being revealed, it sounds like he was doing a ton behind the scenes for this pass the brush event and also has been helping BIPOC into the spotlight more (see queenpreneur’s Instagram and others). Everything I’ve seen personally of him was over 10 years ago so maybe he’s changed. Anyway, Lara needs attention and is getting the help she needs (at least from what she says in her insta stories). I appreciate her stepping up and trying to stop people from buying knockoffs from Aliexpress but her very aggressive tactics make those who she attacks completely discredit her as a bully and mean girl and don’t take her seriously, plus the people she targets don’t give a rip because they wants cheap crap and won’t change their minds. I also agree with her that the cult-like worship people have for Tim and other scrap celebs is odd, but I think any type of excessive love for any celeb/sports figure is strange.

I don’t think Tim is being completely honest either. Neither come off looking good.

I want to know more about the Zoe/Mario involvement. That is the piece I think we are missing here. What did they do/say etc...to kick this off or inflame it? The (crafting) world may never know.

So, the artist that Lara is "defending" (?) clearly doesn't have any beef with TH given that she's still tagging his products in her work... http://instagram.com/p/CCqXVKKJJ52 The whole "I've seen the emails... but OK" is so off to me. Where would Lara (that's who the Pretty Basic is, right?) get the threatening emails between Cassie and Zoe if not from Cassie? Are we really meant to believe that Cassie sent Lara this stuff but has now been so thoroughly bought off that she's denying it all? That sounds a bit far fetched to me. "I posted something in the heat of the moment and then changed my mind and then someone made it into a whole thing because they love drama" is a bit more plausible to me. Anyway, I'm going to go with Cassie's message for today and let all of this go.

I have already said my piece about the initial topic of this thread, but I just have to say something else about Lara and her hypocrisy… I totally get not wanting to have people buy cheap knock offs from Ali Express of your work, plus they are stealing your intellectual property to create the cheap knock offs, BUT... LARA DOES THE SAME EXACT THING. She has multiple stamps in her shop that directly violate the intellectual property of other entities... namely all the Friends TV show logo and icons!? There were other TV shows as well... probably other things, I didn't look too closely. It is beyond hypocritical to call someone out for stealing your "intellectual property" that you actually stole from someone else!!!

I've liked some of her stamp sets in the past but never saw any kind of evidence that she had obtained legal permissions to sell some of them so I've never bought anything. I've seen her on tangents before and don't respect the manner in which she tries to get her points across. Not a fan.

I think she's said in the past she's obtained licensing for Disney stuff, but I've never asked for proof. Disney is pretty strict about the use of their items, so I'd imagine they would have been pulled if she hadn't gotten permission.

I've never heard of her stamps and most likely won't ever purchase, as I was very taken aback at the blatant lifting of images. I am uncomfortable anyway of profiting off BLM and the Covid-19 pandemic, and was blown away by how she utilized the "Friends" and other shows imagery. Not to mention she (while printing BLM stamps) uses one of the more racist long running jokes Friends has, the character's supposed infatuation with a particular martial arts form.

Just like the email (or instagram post) pasted on this thread earlier. Interesting...... (page 3 + peas that quoted you) ETA: + Moraie got a all lowercase reply also.

I am not an intellectual property attorney, but I have had minor exposure to IP law (my ex did it) & I am an attorney and I highly doubt they would've given her a license... the cost of the license would've been more than the total she made from all the stamps she sells... she's just too small of an operation to afford their license.
Second, they are pretty strict with enforcing their license, but there are a lot of steps involved in getting someone to stop selling unlicensed work and typically it's too costly for companies to pursue such a small fish. It's also possible that they never even found the items... she's such a small company and she puts so many water marks on her images they likely aren't even aware of the copyright infringement... I also don't see Disney on her website? One of the ways that other shops, like Kelly Purkey, clearly get around licensing rules is they have limited short term releases. Before you can sue someone for using a license without permission you have to send them a cease & desist letter (which takes time to write) and then give them time to respond. By the time that process is over, her limited run would be sold out. Idk enough about Lara's shop to know how long she manufactures stamps for, but my guess is she has similar timelines.

I also don't see Disney on her website? I just took a quick look and there seems to be a Baby Yoda stamp which is def a Disney property, and Harry Potter in the past (maybe sold out now?) which isn't owned by Disney but a lot of people think is (including me until I googled it). Also Mickey/Minnie ears stamps. I noticed that there was no written description on the stamps indicating what they were about which makes it less obvious to anyone looking IP violations. Baby Yoda was just called "baby on board." She's probably hoping that she can claim that it's just "fan art" or something. She's definitely making money off other people's ideas, some of which she almost certainly doesn't have a right to use. There was no indication that Baby Yoda is a licensed property of Disney, which would be required on the page if she had a license, right? I don't necessarily agree with how strictly IP stuff is handled, especially in the realms of fan-art and fan-fiction, but it does seem awfully hypocritical to call customers out for buying rip offs of your stamps when you have ripped off the ideas in the first place.

I cannot even follow this thread, but..
I worked with Tim before he was TIM, with a store I was affiliated with. I took many classes from him, chummed around with him at CHA (now Creativation), and was his teaching assistant at several CK conventions.
Like some other posters said, he has his public persona, and then there is Tim. Snark is a gentle way to put it. And Mario, his partner, and business associate/assistant, would probably lay down his life to defend Tim.
Take from that information what you will. But also, the Craft Industry is filled with huge EGO's, and there is more backstabbing in the Industry than you will find in all the Real Housewife's franchises.

Oh duh, about the yoda... I was looking for mickey/minnie/disney theme parks... but I also must've missed the ears stamps... I forget that yoga is Disney now! Her images have so many watermarks/protections it makes me laugh... way better designers don't do that with their products. I assumed it was because she's so annoyed with Ali Express knockoffs, but it also might be a way to hide from image searches performed by large corps trying to enforce their copyright. If they were legitimately licensed, she would have the copyright info on the sales page (for example when Studio Calico used to have the Project Life license they would have the "R" in a circle after "Project Life" in the title for the kit). For large companies with licensed products the shop will also saying something about how they are an authorized retailer and sometimes the product also comes with a licensed sticker... they are holographic and usually appear on the tag/packaging, I can't remember if Disney does them but I know the NFL/NBA have them, I would imagine Disney does. I also did a little googling on how to get a Disney license to sell their licensed products and there are articles about how they deny almost every applicant and there is a thorough vetting process. I would bet good money she's not licensed...
